Titans battle and many hive cities are irradiated by Destroyer squads from the Death Guard. Nearly all of Terra was destroyed, soon, the battle was taken to the God-Emperor and his son, Horus.

After a grueling battle, Horus is victorious over Sanguinius, however in this case, Horus is congratulated by his father, instead of angered, however, the Blood Angels and many other traitor legions, continued the fight on Terra and hundreds of planets, to millennia to come.

The brutality during the Sanguin Heresy was violent, and immense,  Death Guard destroyer squads with jump packs drop grenades irradiated, turning the enemies into a irradiated, melted mass of barely even skin and bone, and many chapters showing no mercy to the enemy traitor, whilst hundreds of enemies and innocent civilians died

During the Triumph of Ullanor, the Emperor of Mankind announced that he would be returning to Terra. The completion of the Great Crusade, he placed in the hands of the most shining and glorious of his sons, the Great Angel, Warmaster Sanguinius.

This proclamation was met with some surprise by those who were not close to the Emperor. Sanguinius had not fought by the Emperor's side for as long as some of his brothers, particularly the first-found, Horus Lupercal. Nor was the Blood Angels' tally of victories as long as some Legions such as the Dark Angels or Ultramarines.

But none who had ever met the angelic Primarch could deny the majesty of his bearing or the natural way he commanded his forces, Astartes and Mortal alike. Only Horus had doubts about his brother's appointment for Sanguinius had confided in him of a flaw in his geneseed that overcame his sons with a lust for blood. But Horus kept his concerns to himself, partly out of love for his brother and partly to avoid the appearance of envy as he did not wish to undermine his father's command. Swallowing his reservations, Horus made sure he was the first to congratulate his brother and kneel before the newly-minted Warmaster.
