So ive played a major gt with this list, only double landraider for the lascannons and an extra pack of genresian wolves.

Ive only managed to win one game unfortunatly (against gsc). Lost one game agains demons proper. And had four really tight games against two similar greyknight lists, tau and an ironhand list.

 

On all the games (except demons) i could put a lot of pressure on the opponent and could keep them in their deployment zone. The only thing i was lacking was some units to score secondarys and to screen out my backfield.

The misions we played where also quit easy to score primary for my opponent, and with a few little mistakes i gave some games away on points.

I played 77-78 against tau.

68-75 against greyknights (he managed to win 21points last turn with deepstriking and charging on to my home objective while i had defend home objective and he pulled take opponents home objective)

91-68 against gsc

36-83 against demons (3 big chickens, shalaxi hellbane, belakor and sone small demons, i pretty much got tabled turn 3)

64-64 against grey knight, i really thought i had him but made some movement error and he kept making his invulnsaves.

87-92 against iron hand list with 3 redemptors, 3 balistus, 10 heavy intersessors (pretty good he!), 2x 3 eredicators, 2x 3 inceptors. Was a really fun game and i also thought i beated him, for 3 turns i had him stuck in his dz. But he managed to kill my stuff pretty easely. Was also last game so i wasnt paying a lot of attention, so eventually he had the last two turns to score a lot of points and managed to steal the game.

 

Overall a lot of really fun games against nice opponents (only the second greyknight player was a bit salty)

 

So i need more units to play the mission and infiltrators.

So i was thinking about something like this.

Maybe i should still swap out the predator or whirlwind against skyclaws and Fenrisian wolves, but i also like their long range thread to take out their objective units

I have decided to abandon stormlance.

I was warned in advance that stormlance doesn't have killing power and now I understand.

 

I have had a run of games where I simply can't punch through enemy armor and stormlance has no stratagems or tricks to help add AP

 

My opponents are saving on 4s against AP3 ranged attacks using combinations of cover and AOC...vindicator shots are just bouncing left and right off wraithguard and SM vehicles etc.

It gets even worse in melee where TWC have AP1 only and the trend is a 2+ armor save.  Even murderfang at AP2 bounces against someone with AOC access

 

I am going to test similar lists but using Gladius detachment instead

Remove cover and access to extra AP for ranged will be a big deal using storm of fire

Honor the chapter gives me access to AP in melee as well

 

Time for more tests

New list version 1

 

Judiciar goes with intercessors to sticky things and free me up to move other units around.  The judiciar with enhancement and fight last has a fair chance to survive a charge by 5 chosen + chaos lord if I can precision the lord out first. 

 

The apothecary and gravis captain attach based on what my opponent is running.

 

Gravis captain gives me access to a second usage of storm of fire or honor the chapter as needed.

 

Apothecary gives the lethal and sustain combo with storm of fire

 

Aggressors or eradicators get to ride in LRR depending on opponent 

 

Lancers and vindicator round out the list to help erase big threats.

 

Vindy gets oath + storm of fire when a priority target needs killing
