I really hope its not Votann! Would like to see Dan's take on an Aeldari novel

Its weird we have a new faction out a while no and pretty much zero lore. It would be great to see someone of his calibre build them from the ground up. Might explain why nothing else has come out if they're leaving it to him to make the first steps.

Eshorts on successor chapters. Someone else suggested it might be the winners of the open subs. I remember Mark Anthony Fenech commenting a lot on ADB's facebook page back when ADB was active there. Don't know any of the others. Perhaps one or two might be regulars here on B & C?

Richard Swan already has one or two short stories published by Black Library. He also recently completed his own trilogy, 'Empire of the Wolf,' medieval, low-key, somewhat dark fantasy. It's a pretty decent debut but nothing exceptional.

It would make a ton of sense, but they’re not doing that. Abnett could be writing a Votann novel this year (or something totally different), but Thorpe was in the middle of writing a Votann novel last year (he posted and deleted a teaser on Twitter) and Hand of Abaddon, Kyme’s forthcoming DoF novel, will involve the Votann. Those will presumably be the first novels featuring the Leagues.

Seriously though, I'd be very very happy if someone like Dan would take a chance with them. :)

in the Dan interview linked above he says that he has done annotated versions of Xenos, Malleus, & Hereticus! He thinks the first two have been published, third not yet; my understanding is that only Xenos has been published to date, further volumes not even announced by Black Library (but of course), but it is great news to here that Malleus & Hereticus are coming.

Indeed only Xenos is out, but interesting news.

There are HH connections into the Bequin books so I took it as him meaning he wrote Pandaemonium last year ready for release this year. He is checking the manuscript. I would say he is checking it to ensure no mistakes or contradictions now that tEatD is all out.

Its very likely right what you suspect.

I don't know if this is a hot take, but current day Votann made me realize why the old dorfs were squatted in the first place.

They really don't have the 40k vibe. Even the Tau do, but for some reason the Votann do not.

And in fact. Given the AoS range refresh and whatnot, there is a nonzero chance that the Votann will be re-squatted at some point.

I had this feeling at first as well, and their general lack of fluff doesn't help the 'mouthfeel'. I write a little bit of fanfiction, and figured 'what the hell, let's give it a crack, let's see if I can find what makes them fit' - and ended up doing a total about-face. The possibilities for the LoV in 40K are really compelling, there are an absolute ton of awesome story directions to take them in and to explore the 'fortress mentality' cracking like the Core, etc. I don't think it's wrong at all to be a bit iffy on how the Leagues fit into the setting, but I genuinely believe once there's a book - or at least a significant story role - people will come around.

The new reprint survey thingy is up. I'll be shocked if Titanicus doesn't win the 40k vote. Just sucks they didn't feature the original cover art.

And the WHFB one? ALL of those books are available in Warhammer Chronicles omnibuses. All of them. They could just, you know, keep those on regular reprinting runs? Just an idea.

I feel like Deathwatch and Titanicus aren't old enough for this? I have a reprinted copy of Deathwatch on my shelf that came out not too long ago. And didn't Soul Drinker just get a limited-edition reprint?

There were better choices for this I feel like. Oh well. At least it's something

Toby Frost was asked about another Straken novel and this is his answer:  I would love to do another, but for complicated reasons working for GW is tricky now (no blame on either side - they were quite nice to work for!). But I'd definitely do another if I could!

source: saw it in one of the FB groups (Catachan Jungle Fighters, I'm not a member so not sure if there are more authors)

Titanicus is from 2008, same as Ice World; Portents and Deathwatch are both newer.

Titanicus has had at least three print runs with different covers as well as a LE in 2017.

I’d love to learn what the rationale for selecting these reader’s choice shortlists is, they always seem so scattershot. I’m far more likely to buy an ebook or a used copy of an old title than one of these, so I’m evidently not the target audience but couldn’t they at least theme the nominations? Tie them in with recent (or heaven forbid, upcoming) releases? Maybe they just draw the titles out of a hat.

Big Dakka Le up next week against all the Ork and Custodes boxes. I’m not exactly confident

Pleasantly surprised; no queue and smooth checkout. I know it wasn’t the most in-demand title but adding a new delivery address and using a voucher/paypal split worked too…

I am gutted, however, that Deathworld isn’t available until next week- I was all set to start reading it at midnight (had to stay up with a poorly pet).

Local book store got it early, it's very good. It'll be worth the wait for you, I think.

It has just come to my knowledge that writer Brian Stableford died 24th February.  Brian wrote several novels for GW/BL in the early days of the imprint under the name Brian Craig, most notably the WFB Orfeo Trilogy.  His one W40K novel, Pawns of Chaos, was an interesting read but closer to his WFB output (the Imperial world was a medieval level culture for instance).  He also wrote one of the Dark Future series of novels from early GW (Ghost Dancer).

Brian was a veteran SF&F writer who began publishing work from the early 1970s.  His Grainger/Hooded Swan series are probably his best known works, but there were many others over his career.  Sad to see another of the early stable of writers gone.

So GW remembered the Emperor's Children and Lucius today. They're getting an Index released, which indicates they're actually getting their own Codex this edition.

And Lucius is basically mandatory to run EC.

I sincerely hope BL will actually remember that Lucius is still stuck in limbo, and has been missing since The Crimson King in summer 2017....

I, for one, look forward to a resurgence of the interminable 'what if Lucius was killed by [increasingly convoluted method in increasingly unlikely scenario]???' questions.

Eidolon's getting a book, so maybe he'll be the big guy this go around? That'd be nice. I like Eidolon.

As reported in New and Rumours: A surprise novel announcement for a Lelith Hesperax novel by Mike Brooks, continuing that serise of short character novels we all thought was dead. I for one am intrigued.

What a cool sounding book!  Anything with Vect in has the potential to be fun.

Dark Eldar by Brooks, I'm in. Sounds like it'll be good.

Brooks is becoming the new Haley with how much he's cranking out, it seems like he has hit his stride with the Xenos stuff
