Dark Eldar by Brooks, I'm in. Sounds like it'll be good.

Brooks is becoming the new Haley with how much he's cranking out, it seems like he has hit his stride with the Xenos stuff

I thought the Deldar stuff on his latest Ork book was neat. I thought they could've been their own novel. Well I guess they are now.

It certainly feels like he has been in flow state for the past year or two! His ork stuff is good, but not my cup of tea. However, with this announcement I’m now tempted to go hunt down a copy of Da Big Dakka so I can compare notes on how he wrote Commoragh itself across works within such a short time frame. Additionally, huzzah for new xenos lore, especially Vect!

Chart the continuing history of Warhammer Age of Sigmar in War for the Mortal Realms – a new omnibus collecting companion novels from each edition of the game with new interstitial sections bridging the gaps between major events in the Age of Sigmar. It’s a perfect way to get caught up with the affairs of the Mortal Realms before the new edition of Warhammer Age of Sigmar lands later this year, with exciting stories by Chris Wraight, Josh Reynolds, and Darius Hinks.

This has got to be a new highlight as far as WarCom coverage of Black Library goes. They announce an omnibus without even stating the novels that are included.

You can derive that it's going to be (the terrible) Gates of Azyr novella (Wraight), Soul Wars (Reynolds), and Dominion (Hinks), but for feth's sake, WarCom, you can actually name those titles in an upcoming preorder announcement - this is the only one we usually get before books tend to be sold out, after all.

No no DC, you're thinking about this all wrong. Are you not intrigued by the possibility of Mystery Omnibus? Does it not have a seductive allure? Who knows what works it might contain! Indeed, wouldn't it be a fascinating business proposition to gacha-fy their releases in this manner? How many copies will you have to buy to get the super-rare limited Horus Primarch book?! So exciting! I look forward to purchasing TOMES OF WONDER from the Black Library storefront, coming soon(tm).

Looking forward to the next crime anthology in which every short story is uncredited so you have to guess who wrote it.

The answer, tragically, is Claude Opus 3.

Like Russian Roulette, but with Nick Kyme who is more agonising than the bullet.

Why not Stearns? He did pretty nice DE short stories. There are way more competent authors to tackle xenos besides Brooks...

I only read "Turn of the Adder". It was good, but not as good as the Deldar subplot in Da Big Dakka. So far Brooks has the better vibe imho.

I should read the horror story "Pain Engine" tho

Someone keep DarkChaplain away from WHC this morning

They did an article about getting into AoS lore through books, talked about four books, and mentioned the mystery omnibus at the end. If you weren't paying attention, you might think the four books they mention are the four books you get in the Omnibus since it's in the same article and they're both aimed (according to the article itself) at getting you caught up on AoS.

Until you realize that none of the authors previewed are a part of the omnibus, at least according to the cover

Not saying it's being misleading on purpose but they really need to do better with how they talk about these things, because this won't be an AoS only issue going forward

They also bring up the first Cado Ezechiar novel without noting the sequel’s available this weekend. This is basic stuff. If only any care were put into these posts.

This looks to be a Sororitas novel by Jude Reid set during the Fall of Cadia. It’s titled Aveline: Daemon Breaker and sounds quite exciting:

Quote

Abaddon's Thirteenth Black Crusade has set the Empire ablaze, bringing entire sectors and countless worlds to ruin. As the Annihilator's malevolent gaze turns to Cadia, the holy hosts of the Adepta Sororitas prepare for the greatest battle of their generation. Celestia Sacresantis Aveline of the Order of the Holy Rose must fulfill one final sacred duty before she can join the Battle for Cadia: securing Orison VIII, a small shrine world within the Cadian Gate. But the simple mission of hunting down a Chaos Sorcerer turns into a deadly game of cat and mouse, and an ancient evil rises on Orison VIII - and it knows her name. If Aveline cannot defeat it, Sacred Terra will pay for her failure in blood.

This is the German version of Rob Young’s Longshot from last year.

Thanks for posting! This the first mention of Jude Reid’s SoB novel. I’m guessing it’s the second entry in the five part Sisters of Battle series BL announced in the 2022 preview.

She's mentioned it before and done interviews. Its about the New Soritas High Lord of Terra who uses one of those warsuits. Cant remember the characters name.

Think you're confusing the new Adepta Sororitas book here with the separate Morvenn Vahl book (also listed above)

Only three months for Siege of Vraks? Hell yeah! Shame that Morvenn Vahl will only come out till next year.

As @skylerboodie mentioned, the Morvenn Vahl book is a separate novel. Was she even a High Lord at the time of Cadia’s fall? I thought she came to power post-rift.

That’s the German edition. Let’s hope the English version arrives a little early!

2 months later and we still don't know what's up with Ahriman Undying.

Reading it now thanks to the Fnac release. I think those who liked the first trilogy will enjoy it quite a lot. It feels stranger than Eternal was. The narrative is non-linear and I might need a second read through to fully understand it.
