I think if anyone would like to go with Scout armour, that's fine, we can assume that the Supremacy would have some suits aboard? (Might also be easier to disguise as some form of Carapace rather than being obviously Astartesian power armour?)

Been thinking about our potential landing zones.

Desert:

  • No bugger around
  • Easy to land and take off
  • Creates little signature
  • Concealment difficult
  • No supplies
  • Probably sandworms
  • It gets everywhere

Jungle:

  • Few buggers around
  • Plenty of easy concealment
  • Lots of supplies (hunting/water)
  • Helicopter size midges
  • Difficult to land and take off
  • Creates lots of sign

Submarine landing (and subsequent Over The Beach)

  • Complete concealment
  • Good protection from assault
  • Plenty of supplies
  • Difficult landing and extraction
  • Always a bigger fish
  • Alda Bulbasaur is not a fish (possibly a turtle tho)
  • Sea is probably acid

Just as a heads up, there will be a space/shuttle port that serves visitors to the Bazaar, so I would imagine they will expect you to use it? (They will see you coming at very least by the time the Needle is hitting orbit)

However, I suppose there would be an opportunity to drop off the Strike team on your way in, whether into desert, jungle or even into the sea is up to you! (no acid/toxins - the nice bits of the moon are relatively paradisaic in terms of climate - picture those ads in the local travel agent window for holidays in the Caribbean!)

I guess that might make life easier for you, as the Strike team don't have to worry about whether those going into the Bazaar are wearing sealed armour or not?

I'll see your Surfin' Bird, and raise you a:

Bike Handstand...

Because Rad Lads don't play Quidditch.

@Lysimachus and @Mike Zulu Since we have several days/hours to kill on the trip out to Hell Riviera, I was wondering if I could ask Brother Zidemi to upgrade my Khukurai to Exceptional? We could work out a scene?

I was going to ask about the Stalker Boltgun, but I think that would take too long and incur too many penalties for the craft.

I think, as Zidemi doesn't have the Trade: Armourer ability yet (I went and looked and surprisingly you don't get it automatically as a Techmarine, or a Salamander), I'd probably say no to the Stalker, but sharpening/strengthening a knife blade should be possible?

He'll still need to make an Armourer test, but as it is a relatively simple task and he has the facilities aboard the ship, we'll assume he already has the Skill just for this occasion.

Edit: Also, I just noticed that Armourer runs off the Ag Characteristic, which feels very weird for Salamanders, so I have no problem with Zidemi using his Int value instead (and I would also allow that to benefit from his 'Tools of the Forge' Chapter Trapping, although not his data-port/MIU stuff)

@Lysimachus

I have thought about getting Armourer, but it’s a lot of points to sink early on if it wasn’t going to be useful.

So far, I’ve been rationalising that Zidemi’s duties and crafting are just an extension of the Requisition system, as opposed to him using a Skill to make weapons.

@Mazer Rackham I’m assuming your Khukurai is a type of kukri?

It is indeed just a Kukri (the size of an Astartes Combat Knife, maybe a few fingers longer...) with some 40k flavour drizzled on, inspired by the White Scar 'Duelling Tulwar' Chapter Trapping.

Currently, it's sitting at 1D10+4, Pen 3, Razor Sharp, Unwieldy.

If you're happy to proceed, I'll whack a post up?

@Mazer Rackham Sure thing.

On another note, who else is going to the Bazaar and how many armour sets do I need to interact with (Power or Scout)?

So far its:

Moridyn?

Omoc?

Zidemi?????? (I feel 3 is too many?)

I'm not sure... those you've mentioned, plus Asterius in his latest IC post I think is suggesting disguising his armour as a renegade's?

If so, that's 4, which I figure is the absolute maximum before you start drawing an awful lot of attention to yourselves?

Edit: If we don't get any additional posts before Friday, I will move us on to arriving at the system where the Bazaar is located, but you will still be aboard ship so there will still be opportunity for any 'getting ready' style posts? Edit edit: or pop placeholders in if you wish!

Omoc is optional if other players have a strong desire to hit the bazaar.

Otherwise the Scorpion is going to be making good use of the bases facilities before leaving as his idea of a disguise is less unclean symbols and more xenos pelts and skulls.
If we are looking to draw out Eldar it might not go unnoticed to have a little 'jewelry' from our recently flattened friend as well, full-on cold trader style.

I have another post in the works re a diguise and such. should be up by tomorrow.

I mean Alda's head could be small enough (compared to all you Astartes physique) to wear the recovered helmet, if that is a route we want to go down...

I wrote this before seeing GM's post, so for story's sake I'm imagining Zidemi is just getting the armour ready but nothing's been picked out...

Yep, that's absolutely fine. We can assume that anyone who chooses to stay in their power armour will use these suits to replace or hide the parts that show Chapter/Watch iconography, but for simplicity their AV will stay the same as whatever it is on their sheet. But obviously, with or without all the symbols it is still power armour, and therefore will draw more attention/scrutiny (hence the -5 to Alda's Disguise test for the team).

The variable AV gear obviously doesn't protect as well, but it is easier to hide who/what they are.
