Ok, totally up to you how to handle this scene. If you want you can try to maintain the ruse, and have Alda/Godfrey go talk to Jennings. Note, however, that his Scrutiny is quite a bit better than anyone you've encountered so far. The Orks and Bouchard were all taken in by Alda's Disguise roll, but he might not be…

So, do we want to try and continue the ploy? Or go for Surprise Astartes!

@Trokair - I vote for carrying on the Charade. Its your game anyway, we're just your bodyguards.

So we shall expect a lovely worded action from your 'Nom de Plume /Character.'

We shall of course expect the Spanish Inquisition

Expect surprises from the Hooded Claw

Expect surprises for we're the alert.

The Imperium of Man needs Lerts!

Keep him distracted, even if it's with nonsense whilst I slip around the back and cut some throats.

We could do with a number on the Biters, and have a good look to see if this Top Fop has a force field to stop his Kopf from getting lopped.

Anyone got an Auspex and within 50m?

Three squads, numbers per squad vary a bit but probably 20ish Ork Nobz in total, so outnumbering you two or three to one.

Hard to say until someone shoots at him, I guess, but it seems reasonable to assume he's got some fancy gear stuffed in his pockets...?

Unless I hear otherwise from the rest of you I will get a post up this evening and try to maintain the masquerade and ask some pertinent questions.

Well this evening went as planed...  :wallbash:

Zidemi has an Auspex and presumably can do a Tech-Use test for things “not detectable to human senses”.

So, we've potentially got an Auspex roll for Zidemi to make, but in the meantime:

@Trokair are you still planning to make an approach to Jennings anyway, or do you want to wait and see what results there are (or aren't) from the auspex?

If you are definitely trying to keep the con going, maybe you could pop a placeholder in to that effect, that way I can include Jennings' Scrutiny roll as part of tomorrow's update?

Or if you want to hold off and see what Zidemi finds, that's fine too, I'll push tomorrow's update back a bit until @Mike Zulu has a chance to roll?

Someone should issue a challenge for command of the market. Bigger means in charge, right?  :p

I'm very, very tempted to allow this if you want @A.T....

After all, Heinrich Jennings is not just an administrator but (as you might have guessed from his name) is a pirate and an adventurer in his own right. Even though Ork rules of leadership don't govern the Bazaar, I think Jennings himself might go for it...?

Edit: and as he's still unaware of the Strike team, he's probably not feeling too threatened by the Infiltration team just yet. Yes, I think he might be brave enough to accept such a challenge!

Beware, though, he's pretty handy in a fight for a human, and well equipped for swashbuckling... :pirate:

I love the smell of shredded long pork in the morning.

More like the stink of ozone and disappointment from forcefield saves and dodges....

@A.T. Take the blade to him!

(And buy us time to get....closer....closer...)

Tell you what... I'll even let Omoc nominate an alternative Champion to face Jennings one on one... swords at dawn, so to speak...?

Omoc is a terrible melee fighter by astartes standards, but by virtue of the Deathwatch rules he has a (theoretically) fairly high percentage path to victory, and hasn't used up all of his fate points yet.

So a bit of narrative back and forth to not make it too anti-climactic before pulling out the rulebook and making a prayer to the dice gods for their forbearance...

I'm still going to vote that Omoc quickdraw his heavy bolter and turn the human into paste with extreme prejudice, force field or not. He only needs 1-2 rounds to bypass a field and/or dodge roll to turn this guy into pre-processed sausage. ;)

Going to recede into the background now with popcorn in hand. Happy rolling!

Superb! Ok, just so everyone can see there's no funny business on my part, this was the profile I came up with for Jennings earlier:

Heinrich Jennings
WS49, BS38, Str40, T40, Ag41, Int46, Per38, Wp40, Fel47
Wounds ??
Move: 4/8/12/24
Skills: Dodge, Parry+10, Scrutiny+10
Talents: Combat Master, Counter-Attack, Jaded, Paranoia, Swift Attack, Step Aside
Traits: Heightened Senses Sight (Bionic Eye), Touched by the Fates(2)
Armour: Mesh(5)
Weapons:
Duelling Las-Pistol with Red-Dot Sight:
Range 30m; S/2/-; 1d10+3E; Pen 4; Clip 30; Accurate, Reliable
Power Sword:
Melee; 1d10+10* E; Pen 6; Balanced, Power Field *inc SB
Equipment:
Force Field 35 Overload 1-10

As usual for Enemies, I haven't specified what Wounds he has to keep things interesting, though as a key character he does have Crit Wounds.

Omoc has already rolled Initiative, so I'll roll for Jennings in a bit. Duellists will start in CC range, so no-one benefits from a Charge Action.

As it came up somewhere else, a Grapple has the Subtype: Melee Attack, so can be Dodged/Parried.

Unfortunately I've got to pop out for a few hours this evening, but once I get back I'll roll Initiative and post to start the duel.

Just a technicality from the AKSHEWALLY brigade here, and may my immortal soul be pilloried for it, and my ascension into righteousness be delayed by the almighty on account, but you can't QD a Heavy Weapon.

Always a Half-Action Ready.
