I can throw down something about running through the jungle, but would like some GM advice to my poor fortunate son whilst this bad moon rises...

I'm interested to know if I would be able to work around the cliff face - if I'm reading the description rightly,  the main quay/dock and the chateux-de-knife-ears is built into the cliff face, and therefore there should be a clifftop overlooking it.

I also understand this might be anywhere up to 40m, but I can throw a rope 30m. I have, much to my chagrin, abandoned my drop harness for extra bombs - would the GM rule on/thus consider the following:

  • Collecting enough raw materials or sturdy ropes from the market/jungle to use as a simple lasso/grapnel line? Or, a rudimentary Drop Harness provinding +20 instead of +30 to Climb tests? (Perhaps I could ask Zidemi/@Mike Zulu to help fabriacte this, if the wishes?)
  • A Navigation (Surface) Test to find somewhere with a suitable climbing face within throwing distance?
  • Anything I haven't thought of, up to and including shark repellant.

TIA.

Fair point. I think you guys know that we're due for and gearing up towards another Structured fight? Possibly that is holding people back from posting IC?

Would it be preferable if I just moved us forward a bit and we can get into it, or does anyone have narrative stuff of the journey upriver they want to include?

I was hoping to get this part of the story finished before the hols/ new year, but it's looking like it may still be mid-fight over the holiday period (which I don't know if that is a good or a bad thing for everyone?)

@Lysimachus - I think that its the Hols too.

Yet we have played Structured Time through Chrimbo before in To Plunder the Stars Themselves with no problems

I've got a post brewing and I say Go!

Yes, probably possible, though it might not overhang exactly? The highest level of the palace building would reach above the cliff, so that the rear of that uppermost level would actually be at clifftop ground level (if that makes sense?). Though you can't see it from your position, there are more gardens surrounding the palace up there and a semicircular defensive wall to guard against attack from the rear.

So you could climb, but you'd be very exposed to anyone looking down from the upper gardens, or you'd have to go quite a long way along the the cliff face into the jungle to climb and still be hidden, which might take longer than the fight lasts and then you'd be outside the upper defensive wall? And as Necro said, there might be easier ways to get up to the top?

I'm totally cool with Azadth getting off the boat along one of the banks before it reaches the quay/steps... but I might have something equally fun to offer you instead of climbing...?

Jungle sniper duel...?

I think maybe it is better if I post again and move us into fight time, then I can give you a clearer picture of what is happening/where things are?

I'm your huckleberry, squire.

@Lysimachus, is there time before the first round for Alda to either fluff wise or even crunch wise get over to Amaras and provide medica assitance, atleast enough to get air into him agian, an emergancy tracheotomy or some such?

Yep, sure thing. Obviously you won't get him back on his feet (the whole point is that he's staying down so I don't have to autopilot him), but you can narratively treat him so you know he won't die.

Thanks, just feelt like how Alda would react, will add fluff to the inative post in a bit.

First Placeholder filled.

By the way. Lys, I assume it is a common craftmanship power sowrd Alda has aquiered, or is it more refined then that?

Edit: I also asume that I can only use it as a normal sword (without power) until I get Melee Weapon Trainig (Power), or is it like skills where I can use it at half stat?

Edit the Second: filled out the Initiative post with improv tracheotomy, ammo usage marked on character sheet.

Very nice posts, mate!

As to the sword, yep it's Common Craftsmanship.

And for Training, I had forgotten about that. One of the Marines could obviously just pick most stuff up and use it.

Hmm... thinking...

Ok, I think that as an Inquisitorial Agent expected to go into the field, Alda would have been given at least a little training with most kinds of hand to hand weapons? I think what we should have done at Character creation was give her Melee Training Universal, as I can't see that she wouldn't have had some experience with any of the varieties covered (Primitive, Chain, Shock and Power), even if she wasn't actually given any of them to use?

So I think go ahead and change that on your sheet from Primitive to Universal, and then we're sorted.

A cut just enough for clearing the airways, but not too deep.

"Ah yes Amaras welcome back, yes Techmarine Zidemi has fitted you with a strengthened airway and Cybernetic Larynx after Adept Alda's field surgery, however..."

"However what? Speak to me!!"

"Well not versed in Astartes anatomy, she cut just a little too deep and damaged your Progenoid Gland."

"No!!!!!!!!!!"

Pity the foo'!

2x2m, and unfortunately not - it used Assassin Strike to blink back through the wall!

Edit: if he wants to pay the pointy eared sneak back, though, RAW I don't think you need to have LoS to a target? If he jump pack-ed upwards to go over the wall, he might well be able to spot the Shaderunner and divert to engage on his way down?

Ninja'd by the GM.

As a point of order, can Gerhardt see the Shaderunner from his vantage point? And what's the grid scale?

No there's a 3.5m wall between you and the target.

The Shaderunner is of course within Jetpack Charge range for melee assault.

I should have said, if Zidemi and/or Alda also want to take their Round 1 Actions, feel free? They are next before the next enemy to act, and I don't think they should affect what Gerhardt does?

Merry Christmas, my fellow Nookies! Hope you have a great one as we all go to our heroic deaths in this adventure! :teehee:

@Necronaut Remember that our tests for Righteous Fury auto-pass against Xenos...

Merry Christmas to you all as well!

Yep thanks, mate. I have suffered near-permanent brain damage from this past year, so I appreciate the friendly reminder.

Edit: here's hoping @Urauloth/Vafri will reappear and lead us to a glorious end, riding shiny and chrome into Valhalla. Failing that, we could have someone else give the call to join squad mode before we all get splattered.

Likewise, hope everyone is having a good day!

I'm currently relaxing on the sofa, so I'll probably try to update with some Dodge rolls and update through to the next PC.

Next is the Wayfinder and the remnant of Corsairs A.

If necessary, you guys can let me know what you want Vafri to do (Initiate Squad Mode, use Cohesion for Squad Action, etc, etc?) and I'll roll some dice for him.

Omoc and Vafri up next!
