The fluff may not be great but then this is your blackshield force, so you can make up your own background for it.

Yeah, the Blackshield Rules are pretty awesome, and there's some good art. I can't disagree much about what others have said about the lore, sadly.

Looking at the Shattered Legion rules, I'm wanting to house rule it as whole squads per legion (same as 1.0) but get all the needed traits. Kinda works with a few of them (1st with -1Ld and not playing well with others and 3rd with not accepting a challenge making them look not as glorius infront of other legions), would have to do some testing but it seems a easy fix which requires little extra book keeping.

I've seen all sorts of suggestions on how to houserule shattered legions. Most of them are improvements on the original rules but it's difficult to solve all the issues. I think GW needs to take another look at them and do an extensive errata.

Anyone kind of feel that actual legion rules look quite anemic now compared to the Shattered Legion rules? Like how cool would it be if Full Legions got all the Traits (including the negatives like we used to get...) as the core Legion rules, would almost make me look into doing a legion haha.

My thoughts exactly reading them. In most cases I'd prefer the shattered Legion rules for the legions. They are way more immersive and full of character and not just some bland "+1 to wound" or "+1 to armor penetration".

In the same vein, Priestly was the chap who put minis, scenery and rules in core boxes. Both named are legends and it'd be fascinating to see what they'd do with 40k now if they were allowed a totally clean slate.

 

 

You don't have to wonder what Priestly would have done. Check out Gates of Antares by Warlord, thats his new baby. I got my BG copy, only flicked through the rules so far, but I think the blackshield rules are solid, Endyd Haar is a gigachad, great rules and cool model.
