Exactly, and I'm satisfied that I'm not alone in seeing that. I cannot be bothered to outline all the reasons why the sculpt is superior, but this is one of them.

I know quite a few people have said that the upgrade sprue is a bit underwhelming, but I really like it. Yes, would have been nice for a few more weapons with Blood Angels icons on, such as a Power Fist, Bolt Rifles etc, but I'm still happy. I quickly made this up showing the different shoulder pads. Apologies if I've got any of them wrong!

A lot of the little charm things look like they'd fit on the back of a powerfist.

 

And, no joke, how is Tycho still in the codex? His miniature is old enough to have kids, he's been dead in lore ages, and GW is pushing a 'modern' narrative. This is the one question I want someone in the studio to explain.

I think I'd just rather have more helmets over "Here's 10 different blood drops that are miniscule".

Like any of the charms are really disappointing over anything like;

I get wanting sculpted nipples and abs is probably a HUGE ask with how Space Marines are built now-a-days, but the lack of helmets mask and the almost COMPLETE lack of Chalices is the real ??? in my mind.

 

Edit; Realizing that the one helmet they are giving us is literally just the original Primaris Upgrade Sprue helmet all over again.  That's really sticking in my craw.

I like the upgrade sprue and this seems like a decent box. The art on it and the limited edition codex look great. I really dislike the model for Astoroth but the new Lemartes model is awesome.

I only ever used the one with the laurel from that set, always found the other too heads too silly with the massive crests that were far larger than the ones sanguinary guard used. They just always looked entirely impractical.

 

dont get me wrong, I’d have liked at least a couple more helmets too… but personally, the bare heads are (mostly) doing it for me (there is one that I do not like lol)

The poses look fine.... When we start getting 10 foot giants in power armour in "real life" and have pics of em then maybe we can start to get all nit picky about poses

I think the heros look good, the upgrade sprue is OK. It is maybe a bit heavy on shoulder pads, but not bad, even if I wished it was better. If you want a bunch of assault marines and jump assault marines, that's good too. If not, I think it's not super exciting. 

 

Personally I only have a few blood angels and won't be getting this box, but it's not a bad buy I guess. 

 

Vbits makes a lot of stuff that could assist with the blood angel glow up.

I have no reason to think this other than a gut feeling but I bet their is 3 Sang guard are in the combat patrol.  The new BA Captain, 3 Sanguinary Guard, and a unit of something they want to move out of stock.

Lamenters aren't too bad for Death Company, I think you add silver trim to the shoulderpads and use a bone color for the acquila, as far as I remember.

I really like that Lemartes but he's not really resemble classic Lemartes at all.

I will buy it even if for my collecting and paiting purposes, I don't need those squads.

 

Lemartes is cool, maybe I will use the old helmet to create a more stoic pose but it's a solid model.

 

Astaroth needs more purty seals, I need him more grimdark and that's what I will do.

 

Dreddy will be heavily modified too.

 

Plus amazing transfer sheets, 4 (not bad) upgrade sprues and the codex?

 

I hope it will not be 200€ like someone said, otherwise this a great box!

 

 

Now I'm very curious about the Sanguinor. I think they will play safe and only rescale him but...

Not a BA collector, but I like the Lemartes pose (not 100% on the sculpting bits and do-das), but he has a mean stance, reminds me of some World Eater beserker kinda thing.  I like it, it's different from the STC we have seen in Primaris from day one. Looks like he is about to deliver the "Glasgow Kiss" (for all our brothers and sisters not from the UK, that's a headbutt).

I have been poring over the images of the data cards and I have spotted that Dante looks like he has received a slight buff. He now grants +1" to Advance as well as Charge rolls (was just charges previously I think). Nice to have but he still seems weak for a Chapter Master. Azrael, Logan and Calgar all have better rules IMHO.
