Any worse than Dante forging an alliance with the Necrons?

I would say so. That was barely an alliance, Dante and the Silent King just agreed to ignore each others' forces as long as they were both killing the Nids. We know that the Nids are the threat that caused the Silent King to start waking up the Tomb Worlds while the Blood Angels were desperate to stop the Nids from reaching Baal.

Honestly, I had wiped that one from my memory. Life is much simpler when you are just purging the xenos.

The story made it look like Dante felt the same way, he could barely contain his disgust and only agreed because of the magnitude of the threat.

This only exists in memes.

I still really want a story covering the silent king and sanguinius meeting, as apparently that’s a thing

It is not clear if he actually met Sanguinius or was simply aware of him. Remember Sanguinius used the Pharos of Sotha to communicate with Roboute and the Lion on several occasions during Imperium Secundus. We know with hindsight that this was a Necron facility. My headcanon is that the Silent King was simply eavesdropping on the communications.

I have been having a look at the contents of the box and trying to work out the value and compare it to the estimated price point.

£40.00 10 Assault Intercessors

£40.00 Brutalis Dreadnought

£37.00 5 Jump Assault Intercessors
£37.00 5 Jump Assault Intercessors
£27.00 Lemmy
£27.00 Asty
£43.00 2 x BA upgrades sprues and Transfer sheets (based on DA price)
£20.50 Codex
£10.50 Data cards

£282 Total

I have made some assumptions here such as pricing both Astorath and Lemartes at £27 which seems to be about average for a special character at the moment. I have also assumed 2 copies of the new BA upgrade sprues. If this is correct, a price of about £140 would represent a 50% saving which is pretty impressive. Of course it may well have a higher RRP. Can anyone recall what the value of the Dark Angels boxset back in march was like?

I could also be wrong about the number of upgrade sprues in the box. The photos only show 1 Eviscerator for instance but that would not give enough shoulder pads to go around (actually I am not sure 2 sprues gives enough pads for 20 Intercessors but I doubt they will put 4 in the box).

I’m pretty sure the Warhammer community post mention four upgrade sprues will be included in the box.

edit:  yep!

The rest of the set comprises 20 Death Company Intercessors – 10 with jump packs, and 10 without – who can be customised extensively with four sets of brand new Blood Angels upgrades and transfers.”

Yeah it's 1 upgrade sprue per "box", so since we're getting 4x 5 man DC (2x on foot, 2x w JJ) "boxes", it's 4 upgrade sprues.

They don't have Assault Intercessor shoulder pads on them, so it's still kind of a ?, but they are at least allowing you to be able to fully weapon outfit the squads with a single upgrade sprue, and then have some non-DC kit bits left over.

I’ve already had the go ahead from the boss (wife), she will even queue online for me too

Now that's love!

Looking at getting this for my oldest, give him an army worthy of mordor- I mean the Sanguinor...

Same.  If I didn't end up picking up the Christmas Spearhead Force box, I'd almost be considering two of these.

I've still got all 15 of those JP AI on the sprue.  I did put the Captain together, still sitting on the paint bench tho.

I didn’t get that one, but do already have 15 jump assault intercessors and 20 assault intercessors.

so this set will legitimately be built as death company.

Will likely spruce it up with bits from other sets too of course (I’ll also swap arms between the two kits in there to avoid duplicates within a squad)

It'll be interesting to see the datasheets for each of the two types; I know there's the assumption right now that the DC Intercessor sheet will remain similar, but with the upgrade sprue being part of the box, they'll have access to the Eviscerator plus an inferno pistol.  I wonder if they maybe change the base DC Intercessor to be more in line with the Assault Intercessor box or if they allow both Intercessor weapons and Assault Intercessor weapons.

It won't be too impactful, but it'll change how I plan on using them.  I'm mulling over the idea of 10 with chaplain bum rushing out of a Repulsor or a Land raider might be fun if they get the AI weapon profiles as well as their Black Rage stuff+Chaplain stuff.  Maybe if they're good enough, a Landraider with a 10man+Chap, then another 5 without a leader might be an interesting combo.  Can use the small squad to either screen or soak an overwatch or enable heroic intervention chicanery.

I personally believe

DC Intercessors + DC Marines will just be rolled into 1 Datasheet = DC Marines.

Basically just a 10 man unit of Intercessors, with a DC upgrade sprue and options of rifles or chainswords

We're definitely losing all Firsborn; they'll probably tell anyone who wants to use them to use a Legends style profile that'll basically be "Index" DC marine (Which hey, that ain't half bad if your group is cool with it, they'll retain a lot of their power if your group will let you use the last available points for them if GW doesn't set points otherwise).

I'm thinking that, with this release that we're getting, that the "new" Death Company marines aren't going to have the "old" DC Intercessor loadout options.  My reasoning for that is; this new box is Assault Intercessor based (Assuming they are updating them, they always may choose not to and keep selling "Death Company Intercessor" box that is already out there right now, but I hope not lol), which do not have the same loadout as regular Intercessor on the sprue.  So new Death Company Marine datasheet won't have Rifles, it'll have JUST Chainswords and HBP since that's what comes on the sprue (In both AI and AIw/JP, technically), and what's in the box = what's the available loadout quite often recently.  Now I'm actually kinda wondering if they'll even sell a box that is called "Death Company" after this initial wave or if they'll just expect you to handle it yourself; I don't think there's a box called "Deathwing Terminators" right now, is there?

So I'm thinking that the new Death Company datasheet coming in the new Codex Supplement is going to based around just the Assault Intercessor bits, and I WONDER if they will also allow the "old" DC Intercessor as an alternate loadout, or if they're gonna drop it.  With GW, I think it could go either way, tbh.

I don't have any old Death Company Intercessors as I knew it was stop-gap and have PLENTY of Firstborn DC, so it's not going to affect me, but there's gotta be plenty of people with a few with that older loadout.  I'd probably prefer running the CHainswords+Pistols any way it rolls and that seems to be GW's preference too with these updated kits, but the option was always nice, just for variety's sake.

Just interesting to think about.

The overlap with BGVs would be pretty big IMHO. Actually BGVs are really good in SoS provided you don't mind footslogging them or buying them a Land Raider.

I don’t think Sanguinary Guard will ever be on foot there’s a number of reasons that won’t work
