Fire Golem Posted March 21 Share Posted March 21 Hi all, I generally do not enjoy painting. It takes me ages to do even single models and I’m never overly happy with the results, which means over the years I’ve never actually painted an entire force. I’m trying to change that this year, with my main focus being a 2,500 point Heresy Death Guard army. I’m hoping having a WIP thread will be a little bit more motivation to keep going sometimes. This first post is probably gonna be a bit of a photo dump as I’ve already made a bit of a start. I finished a couple of test models just after Christmas, a tactical sergeant and a Mortus Poisoner, as well as building the rest of the Poisoners: After that I de-40k’d some of the new Indomitus to use: Kitbashed myself a Moritat from the DG Praetor model, and made a couple of Contemptors from the Resin one and the plastic kit: I’ve also built the other 9 Tactical Marines, some 3D printed Deathshroud and a Praetor. Currently, all the built models are primed, drybrushed and washed…and that’s where they’ve been for a couple of weeks I think I’m going to invest in a decent airbrush with some birthday money, mainly for vehicles. I still have another 10 Tacs, a Deredeo and a Land Raider to build for my weird 2,500pt force. I also picked up the Solar Auxilia box to make some allies, another reason why I want the airbrush! I’m not sure how to build the rifle guys for painting, whether to leave the arms off or just build them fully. I also haven’t decided on a scheme for them yet. If it's of interest, as you said you don't enjoy painting and generally aren't happy with the results - I used to enjoy painting, and then stopped painting and even assembling models for a while ... what helped me get started again was acknowledging that I needed some form of magnification to be able to get acceptable results (painting "by feel" isn't really the best way of going about things) ... the "joys" of getting old.
