Update:

The four additional four Reaper Bots have been finished today. I have painted them with an older, frazzled brush that´s why they are more rusty than their first metallic brethren. Maybe I need to add some rust to the first one so that it won´t stand out as much:

Update:

Rustica has been finished. There is also a comparison pic included with her sister Metallica:

The five Reaper Bots received more attention to their bases. Junk & Scrap were bits from Juweela. I also added more rust to the first painted bot:

Update:

The ruins have been finished last week. This means only the Primaris remain unpainted from the Command & Recruit boxes of the previous edition. Though I still need to come up with  a fancy paint scheme for them as just black isn´t exciting enough for me atm. :

Update:

Android Priestess from Reaper:

I resisted the urge to give her a colourful hairstyle despite the mini having a Cyberpunk feel. So I went for the classic white of Rutger Hauer´s character from Blade Runner. Inside the album is also a comparison shot with other models. And she had been glued atop a larger base otherwise I couldn´t make use of all the junk/trash bits which are in my collection.

We are staying on new Mars for a terrain crafting project. The Rust Buckets need homes so lets construct some buildings. The motto is:

"Trash to terrain!"

The buildings main purpose is to have a second level on the roof which is accessible via stairs outside the building. So skirmish games like Rogue Trader (yep, battle report incoming for that one when buildings have been finished) will profit from this as will low point games of 30K/40K.

Maybe I also do a hatch on the roof for minis inside of it although the roof will be fixed. The vibe is of course rusty metal. For this I plan to cover the buildings in welled cardboard giving them the appearance of being made of corrugated iron.

Here are the early stages of the first building:

Update:

Junk House #1 has been built and basecoated with black colour. It will get the Rust Bucket painting recipe tomorrow.

Edit:

Now I know why people buy terrain. Building that stuff takes hours!

Heh, yeah, it is a lot of work, but it can be quite rewarding and has a lot of charm (I really liked the scenery in the old Necromunda battle reports in White Dwarf). The new terrain kits are lovely, though ...

The keyhole is a rusted cog wheel (what else?) which has a hole for a data spike (idea stolen from Robocop). So a Rust Bot has to extend it into the cog wheel to enter his home. As I don´t have this time around sickly green lights for contrast I chose alien tufts. I have arranged those in a flower bed to quickly identify the shack when doing close-up shots of the roof in future battle reports. Other shacks will have differently coloured alien tufts.

The idea with the flowers was stolen from the Machinarium video game in which robots live in a junk city although their town is much more colourful than mine. Despite being robots they nonetheless appreciate a few organic things like flowers. The flowerbed was done with Vallejo Red Oxide Paste and the stairs with gravel. Junk/Trash bits completed the wasteland look of a futuristic landfill.

Fastest mini I have ever painted:

The Plasmacyte received more trash on his base today. It had been too empty for my liking.
