What is The Call to Arms, I hear you ask?

The Call to Arms is a new multi-forum event designed to encourage us all to start a new army, or bolster our current armies.

The Forums of the B&C are divided up into four Strongholds; Imperium, Chaos, Xenos, and Heresy.  For the next three months the 8 Forums of the Xenos Stronghold will be competing to claim Victory over the other Xenos Forums, with all four Strongholds being compared at the conclusion of the Event.

There are two categories for Victory in both the Forums and Strongholds, the Forum/Stronghold who has painted the most points worth of models, and the Forum/Stronghold with the highest % of completion (Participants vs Completions).

Full Rules and Place your Vow =>  The Xenos Stronghold

Start Date: 15th June

End Date: 17th September

How do I join in?

Models for The Call to Arms have been allocated a point value based around their size, the time they take to paint, and the amount of effort generally taken to paint them, this is why some models of different sizes appear in the same categories, and why Characters are worth more.

The below list should cover every model for the T'au;

1pt    Drones, Kroot, Vespid, Warriors, Stealthsuits,

2pts   Crisis Battlesuit, Piranha

3pts   Broadside Battlesuit

4pts   Ghostkeel Battlesuit

7pts   Riptide Battlesuit,

8pts   Stormsurge Battlesuit, Devilfish Chassis Tanks, Razor/Sun Shark, Barracuda

5pts    Leader and Unit Composition: 1 OR Epic Hero, Shaper, Fireblade, Commander, Ethereal

Terrain

1pt    3 Munitorum Barrels, 4 Munitorum Crates, Zone Morialtis/Gallowdark Column, Octarius Ramshackle Bridges

2pts   Aegis Defence Line Section, Aegis Defence Platform, Galvanic Servo-haulers, Thermic Plasma Conduit Section, Imperialis Ruins Wall Section, Zone Morialtis/Gallowdark Wall, Octarius Scrap Heap/Barricade

3pts   Fronteris Vox Antenna, Fronteris Auspex Shrine, Thermo-exchanger Shrine, Octarius Oil Rig, Necromunda Fuel Tanks

4pts   Munitorum Container, Mechsnicus Transterrsnic Gantry, Galvanic Servo-crane, Big'ead Bossbunka, Skull Alter, Noctilith Crown, Octarius Ramshackle Walls

5pts   Tidewall Droneport, Tidewall Shieldline, Feculant Gnarlmaw, Miasmic Malignifier

6pts   Fronteris Landing Pad, Mechanicus Forgeshine, Mechanicus Galvanic Magnavent

8pts   Fronteris Hab Bunker, Manufactorum Administratus,

10pts Zone Morialtis Gang Stronghold

Note: Custom/Scratchbuilt terrain- use this list as a guide as to how many points tour terrain is worth, but please make sure to mention your terrain is custom when Vowing.

All points are per model. For example if you pledge 20 Fire Warriors (1ptx20), 3 Crisis Battlesuits (2ptsx3), a Broadside (3pts), and a Commander Battlesuit (5pts), your vow would be worth 34pts

If you have any questions or queries, or there's a model you want to paint but isn't listed, just @Grotsmasha and I'll be more than happy to help you out.

Please feel free use this thread as a place to share your thoughts, ideas, and WIPs throughout the Event to motivate and inspire the Tau, and the Xenos to Victory!!!

Event planning indeed - Need to work out what I have to paint and then divide in all up into 3 (Paintable) Vows ,since I wont have a Big'un unit that's over 10 points (only Elmo is crazy enough to paint a Manta ) I'll only have 3 Vows worth...

better get all my T'AU stuff together and pair them all off into vows...

Cheers. Mithril

I went on an investigation today.

Apparently I must have dreamt up buying a copy of Chalnath.

However I do have the Ghostkeel Combat Patrol, an extra box of XV25, the Kroot Hunting Pack and I found a Strike/Breacher team on sprue from a previous Kill Team box.

Oh and two XV15 (sadly I think my others are lost as I really want to build a squad of XV15 for nostalgia) who need some more friends.

I'd probably look at a Fireblade, Strike Team and XV25 team to give me some different things to play with.

Because I imagine my next purchases will be the new Combat Patrol (or two) and some Devilfish.

  • 3 weeks later...

I need to get my cuss together for it, I have most of the old combat patrol to paint, and all of the new one coming for my next Crusade, which is a lovely excuse to make a game of it. Of course, as a filthy assemblies painter I can't get them all glued together for a photo first, it'll just be a pile of sprues.

Yep, I was the idiot that bought a Barracuda the week before it was consigned to legends...Doh!

I'm guessing form the points list at the top it will be worth 8pts in the challenge?

I really need That nice undercoat weather ...very soon please Weather Gods!!??..

I've heard that warming a can in warm water for a minute or so works wonders for priming when it's a little cooler. Up in Brissie I've never had reason to give it a go, bust maybe could be worth a shot

@Grotsmasha - Thanks Grot,

I do actually do that with the can and yes it works extremely well!, but if it's too cold I'd rather not risk it, I'm probably going to drive into work on the weekend and spray them in a Loading bay that's sheltered and heated + The things we do for our Hobby !!

2 Days Till "Call to Arms 2024" Starts!!

I have my First Vow undercoated(finally) and ready...

@Grotsmasha * double checking though, I have 3 members of a Strike team put together & undercoated (I only had 3 when it was a good time to undercoat so I went with what I had, I am going to finish the rest of them later)

am i able to vow these 3 now for 3 points along with the other stuff I have? The rest of the team will probably be in my second vow...

The same with my Stealth Leader his other team mates are already painted so am i able to vow him separately from them for 1 point?

Thanks for any clarification you can give...

Cheers,

Mithril
