GM: OOC, I'll rule that because Eska has Quadruped, she still falls over, but she may stand back up for free if we go to Initiative. I forgot she has such a dangerously low WP. Interesting...

Thanks boss!

Yep, as mentioned previously, it is so difficult to get a Lesser Minion that can do much of anything if you split the stats evenly... you almost have to make them good at one thing, and ignore everything else? Therefore, Eska isn't terrible in combat, but is flat out rubbish at everything else!

That said, as I understand it, the Loyalty characteristic should go some way to offset her poor Wp/Fel/etc slightly, helping her to be obedient and do what Hagga asks even if such actions would otherwise be against her better judgement? (...for a dog, obvs )

(if that isn't the way it works, I can't see what the Loyalty stat does at all?)

Seriously though, 8 more Infamy and another 500xp, and I'll be immediately taking a +5 Fel boost and upgrading to a regular Minion, where things improve quite a bit stats-wise!

@Mazer Rackham Sorry for my lower activity this week -- I've been utterly crushed by work. I'm anticipating I'll have only limited time to post over the next 2-3 weeks, but I will try to be diligent about inserting placeholders and requested dice rolls as needed.

Duly noted. For your foresight, I will withhold the usual Obeisanquam Cactaceae this time around.

Just be advised everyone, I am going through people's sheets to make sure I have everything dotted and crossed. If you get a PM from me it's because I'm old and confused and am trying to cover all bases, understand all the interactions.

Not that it will make much difference, since you'll all likely be dead anyway - but, hey, at least I'll know for next time. I apologise for the inconvenience, but do your civic duty and help an old, forgetful GM out, ok?

This reminds of the last time I played Black Crusade IRL: a buddy of mine was playing as the psyker (human, unbound psyker) in our party. During our first combat encounter the first and only psychic power he manifested with the character was a doombolt against an enemy at maximum push (+5 for 8 psy rating total). Naturally, when he rolled for psychic phenomena it went straight to perils of the warp, followed immediately by "Grand Possession," with a Great Unclean One taking control of the character. The survivors were then pursued around the deserted halls of the Dark Mechanicus asteroid base we had broken into to sound of the Benny Hill theme music while firing loads of ordinance downrange at the abomination with little-to-no effect, all while panicking about finding the McGuffin we had been contracted to secure and avoiding having it corrupted by the presence of a Greater Daemon of Nurgle and praying we could get off of the miserable rock alive. Good times.

It is always the way with psykers.

The first Dark Heresy game I ran was an attempted murder-mystery. The groups psyker having survived an attempt on their life would subsequently use divination, full push, in the garden of the Sororitas ministry where they had been taken for treatment. It did not go well.

No matter how Tzeentchian an aspiring sorcerer may like to think they are in a game of Black Crusade, subtlety and restraint are utterly foreign concepts. All psykers only have two settings: either 'on' or some variety of 'off.'

Like: On = Alive, and Off = Dead?

^ This sounds like that 'you get £10 million but there is an immortal snail chasing you and if it touches you it will kill you' thing...

Sadly I feel that especially on the psychic side, the FFG games are both showing their age and aren’t very well designed. I understand that it’s both an attempt to balance “classes” and get the idea “Warp is dangerous “ across but if you risked TPK as a magic user every time in something like D&D, that’d be rather putting people off playing magic users, I think.

I like that Imperium Maledictus has more cantrips and spell equivalents for use out of combat to offer than just trying to represent the stuff from the tabletop.

Nevertheless, taking the safety off when it comes to summoning / binding. A Greater Daemon is still totally acceptable

Like: On = Alive, and Off = Dead?

On = actively using a psychic power

Off = Up to and including one of or some combination of the following: dead, unconscious, sleeping, gagged & bound by brass chains, inside of a null field, being actively strangled by a blank or champion of Khorne, possessed by a bloodthirster, player is currently or temporarily confused about how psychic powers work, et. al.

..snip..  possessed by a bloodthirster ..snip..

Funny enough, this is exactly what happened in my  very first combat encounter in the Rogue Trader PC game.
All the Psyker did was buffing the group, mind you

There are quite a few ways scattered around to mitigate the risks... most players either don't know where they are hidden or like to play the odds.

(the very boring tzeentch 'warp staff' for example, or the oldschool aetheric wave spars for the cash-strapped heretic who doesn't want to use all their powers fettered)

I am a vessel of hatred.

No, at Level 1 you're a kayak of aggrievance.

Says so in the book.

I mean, with a bit of jiggery pokery I could let you be a dinghy of umbrage?
