I don't know how, but I'd never seen that in DW, but you're absolutely right! In that game your DoS on the Hit roll is your minimum Dam on one of your d10s... Slightly different wording, but same effect.

I wonder how many points of Damage I've missed out on over the years by not seeing that...

Wow, never really copped that rule either.

Adversaries just jumped up a notch, but it IS situational.

I'll put it to the vote - do you want to maintain, or go by the book?

Edit @Mazer Rackham it probably doesn't make much difference...

Not a bean, my lad.

I'd use the rule, but that's because I always prefer to stick to the book wherever I can.

Like you said, it's a pretty rare situation where you'll get more than 1 or 2 Damage extra, as most times you won't get masses of DoS.

But it might just protect players from the horrible feeling of having rolled a successful Hit and then flubbing the Dam roll with a 1?

Edit: @Machine God I think the Cursed Metal downgrade says 'at the end of each combat' so I'd say you only need to roll for that once at the end of the whole fight, not each Round... unless Mazer has told you differently?

Quick question so I can phrase Rakash’s plan correctly in the narrative: Since the summoning obviously worked and the binding didn’t - I assume it’d make sense for the banishing to involve sort of “reverse” the summoning - replacing asome of the sigils, removing others?

What is the chanting tested against?

That said I think Xerxes isn't qualified for more than the page turner roll, or assistant to - at INT 45 he gets a bonus DoS from his cybernetics, a potential assist from his minion (who may be a legless servitor with the strength of a child but can still dual-wield candles) and possibly a +20 bonus from his cerebral implants if this is considered a logic/lore style test.

Plus he hasn't blown any infamy yet.

What is the chanting tested against?

Apologies, it can be Intelligence (Forbidden Lore (Any suitable) or Willpower. I'll amend that, cheers.

I’m guessing Cyrandras will act as the locus with him being the only Psyker in the group (and unwilling to let Khardon take credit ) -

keep in mind that he’s also got “Radiant Presence “ though I’m unaware if  that is of  any further use here since it is in play already and I haven’t found anything that says the effects stack

Radiant Presence only affects Fear or Intimidation Tests, and I'm afraid this Ritual doesn't qualify for bonuses therefrom.

..unless someone tries to scare or threaten the ritualists away

But yeah, noted.

Also, placeholder replaced

Side point, but how crummy are Huron's bodyguards?

His target to hit Delly with an AllOut Attack was 80, right? That's including +20 for Size and +30 for the AOA. Can't think of any negative mods that would have been in play, so has he really only got WS30??

Forgot about her Size.

But I also forgot to do the WP Tests for them as well.

Maybe they'll get Stunned...! Unfortunately I don't know what's going on with the post. The stuff in the spoilers won't edit.

I'll add an amendment...

@Mazer Rackham - GM, what was the damage from the Alpha Legion Miss?

It looked like Kraggan got hit, then Eska and then a Terminator who ignored it?

Kraggan cannot Dodge as he made an All Out Attack.

Damage is rolled as a single roll for anyone hit. However, since I waived a rule for Lysimachus, I will allow you a Dodge roll against the Bolter shot or the Horde Attack despite your AOA.

The Terminator ignores it because it cannot beat his Arm/TB.

Fair is fair.

If Xerxes has any sort of Forbidden Lore that is applicable, he will be better than the Smiler due to his auto-DoS, who will be using his WP 45. For Forbidden Lore, I think you would need either Demonology or the Warp.

As for order of actions, to me it looks like this-

Round 1 - Locus (Summoning of Force), Assistant (Alteration of Binding), Chanter (Refrain of Refute)

Round 2 - Assistant (Reformation of the Warp Vortex), Locus (Control of the Immortal Power), Chanter (Refrain of Castigation)

Round 3 - Locus (Unleashing the Unrelenting Tide), Chanter (Refrain of Abolition), Assistant (Closure of the Eternal Seal)

Each round seems to follow a sort of pattern; raising a power, controlling a power, then binding/finishing a power. Of course, that may just be my read on it.

So it looks like our current plan of making things worse is :

Locus - Cyrandras (Manifestation rolls)

Chanter - Smiler (WP)

Rites #1 - Xerxes (INT), with assistance from his candle waving minion

Rites #2 - Unoccupied

Presumably, as Locus, Rakash can attempt the Forbidden Lore Test to work out the pattern, before the whole process is actually started? So although it's a tough-ish Test - Int40 - 30(Difficulty) +10(Assist from Crux'as) = 60 - there is no risk in having a go at figuring it out?

Failing that, I'd say Ikka's read on it makes a whole lot of sense.

I don't think any of the rest of us have the Skills to be much help to you guys?

Hagga and Teshub are definitely more fighty than lore-y so I'm guessing they are better off staying where they are?

Kraggan, however, has got high Int and Forbidden Lore (Warp) so could be useful in the second Rites position... but I'm not sure whether he can get out of the melee in order to come help? @Mazer Rackham would the narrative prep Round allow him to Disengage and get over there, if MG wishes?
