Indeed. Guess what next XP Expenditure will be for?

A course in underwater basket-weaving? A summer spent touring vineyards in the south of France? Perhaps a primer on the decline of the Roman Empire? Maybe Kraggan will finish knitting that scarf for his nan?

Edit: as an idea, could we maybe keep the rolled Initiatives... but swap which characters are at which Step?

Right, ok - I think I must have got the wrong end of the stick* - from the way I read this, I thought you meant that you were just kind of acting at the same time, but in deference to one another, in a modified 'order of march' so to speak, hence my reply.

My brain:

Ukalegon 12

Hagga 10

Cyrandras 11

Kraggan 7
Tarh Teshub 11
Xerxes 11

And I was happy to waive the 'Delay Action' requirement, as we've been playing it that way when I called for a block of Player Turns. Being honest, I think this is better, since we'd have to decide if your Inits would have to revert or not on contact and susbsequent Turns - and then the Sequence gets very messy. Players are also demoted in the turn by dint of character choice - especially when they could perhaps intervene in the Turn Order at the correct step to make a helpful play for others.

Doing it this way essentially does what you want, loses the logistical baggage, and actually benefits you more.

Thoughts?

Every man should consider the fall of Rome daily, sir.

Now go and polish your Lorica before the Centurion comes by...

* = Wrong end of the stick - attributed to the handing of the loo brush down the line of Roman Legionaries to clean clefts in the bathhouse, and the wrong end being proffered. Also believed to be the etymology of the 'cloaca' end of the stick, etc.

Yeah, I'm cool with whatever way you think! I just couldn't get my head around us lining up in Initiative order on the stairs (you just wouldn't, would you? You'd put the fighters at the front!) But then if you take Actions in Initiative order, you'd be climbing past each other on the stairs, which doesn't make sense either...? So, yeah, a modified order as above just for this Round makes perfect sense!

Side point: as soon as Ukalegon enters the room and looks around and sees whatever bad guys are on the middle floor, you'll have to add them to the Initiative order, right?

If there are any, and he sees them, yes.

GM NOTES:

  • Floors 1 and 2 are 30m in diameter, and 5m high, with flat ceilings and floors,
  • Floor 3 is 30m in diamater, with a domed ceiling peaking at 8m. The floor beyond the stairwell is concave, and tiered, with each concentric ring of cogitator banks 2m in elevation above the inner, accessed by ramps.
  • Each stairwell is bisected into steps and a partial servitor ramp.
  • All cogitator banks face the stairwell.
  • The doors on the stairwell are security doors, and colour-coded for which floor can be reached.

Sorry all, I tried to quote that into the OOC thread, but it doesn't seem to want to move...? I'll keep trying... Edit: there we go, this post is now in the thread I meant to put it in!!!

So, we are coming out of the blue door, and the Horde without Hybrid is behind the cogitator to the South-East, and Horde with a Hybrid is behind the cogitator to the North.

Yes, because only Shakin' Stevens uses the Green Door. :whistling:

Seriously though, you need to get off that stairwell. When you're doing FISH & CHIPS*, stairs and doors are the places that cause the most casualties - and you're on both.

Question: if Ukalegon's Run distance is 36m, surely he could get from the blue door around to take cover amidst the big round storage cylinders? The whole room is only 30m across?

@Mazer Rackham I wasn't too sure how many and what sort of actions I was going to be able to take since many skill and ability tests are of the full round variety. I could have asked earlier. Essentially I want to move Ukalegon into the room and find a nice retaining wall or cogitator bank to chuck him over, hopefully drawing some fire away from the others while he runs in.

Edit: that said, sliding along the floor is rather cool, and I did specify the nearest cover so let's roll with that.

Ok gang, as per MG's reminder across in the Murderers thread, we've got about a week before that game resumes. In order to give our GM a chance to prep, what we'll do is play to the end of next Round, assess where we're at/what we've got, and then close it up for recess.

Players, please go ahead and complete your Turns, we will assume the enemy Overwatch has burned their Actions for this Round.

For ease of reference - would it possible to jump from the stairs to some place from where to support the combat by Bolter / doombolt? Preferably with some cover

Yes?

@Mazer Rackham Well sorry we weren't progressing as quickly as planned. Happy to heap an abundance of blame upon myself due to incessant questions and confusion about basic stuff in this latest combat. I'm donning my hair shirt and hood of shame as we speak. However I seem to have misplaced my flail... I guess the old belt will do.

You missed a spot.

Seriously, no-one was running late. I had the pace at control the whole time, but due to real-life matters pressing, and my plate filling, I took the opportunity offered by Lysi's game to let us run out of room. (He offered an extension, but commitments are what they are).

Entirely my doing.

If you have any complaints or comments outside that process, please do not hesitate to PM me with your concerns and I will quietly have you shot afterwards. Thank you for your co-operation

To be clear, we haven't completed the compact yet, have we? I presume there is (much) more for us to do before we cross that milestone.

That is correct.
