Looks like the article is going to be part of a series, likely leading up to the new kill team announcement. The article looks like it was re-posted and is now under the header "tales from the Chalnath Expanse" with a "I" on the thumbnail.

Seems like we will find out more information about who the Tempestus is going to be deployed against and some more clues as to what the alpha asset might be.

Very glad AoS 4e is out the door and war-com can be something other than index updates again.

There's a small backlog of small releases to go for the next 2 months sandwiched in between the starter boxes for AoS and sigmarines/skaven dropping if I were abetting man. I'd wager for 40k it'll be [redacted], individual characters from last releases and that's it with KT being previewed for later.

All guesswork.

A roadmap would be nice too. I don’t mind waiting (I have plenty to paint) but it would be nice to be able to plan!

Most definitely "honored auxiliaries" is a pretty big tell. Its open that it could be more than vespids that seems unlikely.
Alpha asset is some sort of weapon, which is fun
Orks are in the area - hopefully means new stormboys sculpts are on the horizon!

A new entry in this series

Definitely looks like the build up to the new Kill Team season with plastic Vespids in the mix.

Indeed, on social media they've posted a link to the WarCom article with a tag for Kill Team:

Guess that means I should hold-off on my 'breachers but with jetpacks' Vespid plan until we see what silly weapons they get from being a Killteam squad. I look forward to a 10-beg squad with 5 different gun rules!

Imagine tho:

My secret hope is that they don't actually want to do a flying killteam, and this is all a leadup to a Gue'vesa killteam instead.

I might actually buy that! Kroot with wings sound awesome.

I seem to recall Winged Kroot existing in the Kroot army list in Chapter Approved.

I also wouldn't be upset if that was the case (although I'd like to see new Vespid too).

And here's hoping with it being Chalnath again, we see the Sector Imperialis terrain.

I forgot Chalnath was Sector Imperialis, that was a good box last time as a Sisters player.  Add in the battle sanctum and it made for a great ruined convent.  Hopefully it's another set which will bump my collection from KT to 40K size.

Not convinced by the flying rumours I can't see how flying would work in the KT ruleset.  I am excited for more Scions though there are so many options for the direction the kit could go.

To be fair, I distinctly remember winged Kroot being an option for Kroot Mercenaries in 3rd/4th. While Vespid need the revamp desperately, I'm also not going to complain if that gets an official release either.

I gotta say.
I made this as a joke at how GW focus way too much on Kroot when regarding T'au auxiliaries to the near exclusion of Vespids or any other Canon auxiliaries, but I'm surprised at how many people have expressed that they'd actually be pleased to see winged kroot.

Winged Kroot are a neat idea and have history but in the very specific niche of 'winged Tau auxiliaries' I'm not sure there's room for both them and Vespids and unless Kroot were to actually get their own codex I think Vespid should get the spot. The love Kroot have got recently has been great and it would have been cool to see them get a big knarloc too but there's gotta be some love for other races as well, I'd much rather see Vespid get new units than Kroot take up their design space.

I can't wait to see these vespid, I have high hopes for them. Tau desperately need an expansion of their auxiliary units, the Kroot wave was absolutely great but that's enough now. Give me vespids, tarellian dog soldiers, hrud, and fishmen please.

Nicassar (giant, flat, psychic polar bears) and Galg (six tentacled 3D starfish guerilla warfare specialists) first!

Then perhaps Morrelians and Hrenians...

The Hrud are enemies of the Tau, not a client race.
