And now an update. Commissar Geffes decided that ain't right The Hero of Imperium wear worn down armour and found new shiny one for Bop the Wolfgryn.large.IMG_20251207_1047222.jpg.c67ab63839554ce0ce5a8a838d320731.jpglarge.IMG_20251207_1047282.jpg.cd8b751a4666f42e73e4b461720e3b81.jpglarge.IMG_20251207_1048012.jpg.40ea248a5b819e4b4dc1b93ec75af580.jpg

My potato phone don't show real difference in brightness and saturation though.

This approach to painting consume a lot of time but result is more then satisfactory.

Another post without progress to keep me motivated while there is no time for hobby.  I found out my long dropped roombox are perfectly fit as Ogryns village.

Lol, I can't glue his hand cause the shield is too big. If I do so I can't paint left leg at all. Also his hand not finished too. That's my error. I glued shield to hand. I'd should glue his hand first and the shield once hand properly painted

I'm guessing one of the stall-holders has been rumoured to have extra appendages, and Bop has been dispatched to investigate

I wonder if that town has a second-hand store.

Yeap, it is, though it's in another roombox.  also it would be nice if you give me a hand with my paint job :teehee:

I'm alive. That's was brutal both the end of year's hell at work and today's hobby session. I took all my unpainted infantry and trying paint them all in batch. Well, it's not super fun but very productive way to paint. There is 30 cadians, HWS and command squad. 41 bodies+ big guns.

All get basecoat of 7 colours, classic two thin coat(or more in case of dark blue).

Command squad get fancy blue for armour and grey for drab.

And started painting highlights for first cadians squad.

Decided to not wast time with NMM and just use my nice metallics I have.

On photo it can look dull cause my potato can't shoot properly without preparation.

What I want to say. I love painting infantry. Even more I love to paint Guards infantry. All that's small gubbins and details all over model. Current kit provides a lot of heads and bodies and combined with hwt, kasrkins, sentinels(which have 4 cool heads) and upgrade sprue there is tones of faces and hands.

I think I'll correct my plans and add another platoon of cadians to maximum six blobs of twenty. And may be 4 more HWS so I have all weapons variants.

Also I understand full infantry list ain't competitive or fast to play, but I really wanna big infantry army. May be 4-5k .

Yet another productive day. Add fancy blue and gray to HWS and seven troopers. They already looks good.

There is "before" on the left and "after" on the right. Unfortunately without proper light it's looks a bit rough with my phone.

without batch painting I'll sink in details for every trooper and finish planed forces around end of 15th edition :D 250 small infantry are too much to paint them all to high quality, and I also need to paint my nids who already covered with dust on upper shelf. so I switched to mass production. It's lowering individual quality of each miniature, but from other side they looks good enough for display and for tabletop.

Here is HWS, painted based and varnished. I really love this kit. Good variety of bodies and heads, lots and lots of bits to use in squad and for conversions and terrain build.

Command squad is almost ready. I believes I'll finish them today.

My overall plan for this forces is corrected a bit. It'll gonna be infantry company + support:

All kind of non-epic HQ

150 troopers. line riflemen + special weapon and Voxmen

Heavy weapon platoon. 5 HWS, at least one squad of each kind

3 squads of kasrkins

3 FOB. One of each kind

Sentinels squadron. 3 armored and 3 scouts

2 russ + baneblade

150 infantry is a lot  (even for something like WHFB, let alone 40K)

Haha, it's only line infantry it should be around 300:laugh: with all support. And without separate scions/ aquilons company

Command squad is complete. Again good kit I like it more then old one. You virtually can build 3 command squads and make them looks different without to much effort. Next one obviously should be with banner. I don't really like how banner in kit looks like. Idk may be I make my own. I don't like they limited us with cadian banner only, wish they gives us empty banner so we can make our own.

I can't make proper photos again. Could you be so generous and gives your priceless feedback. Don't forget! Every time you gives feedback, The Emperor smiles on his throne.

300 infantry? That's more models than is in my WHFB Orc & Goblin army

It's good to hear that the kit's got a lot of variation within it, so you don't just end up with identical-looking units.

There's some nice posing in the squad. Making the "radio doo-dads" copper instead of "silver metal" is something you don't see often.

I wonder if it might be worth just giving their feet a light dusting with a "grey" pigment? Their bases look like it's a dusty place, but their feet are clean.

I'd trying add some variety, so antenna is cooper. And yeah, that gonna be large infantry "collection".

Considering bases idk, I wanna add some grass and maybe rubbles and then add dust to feets.

Right now imma finished blue on troopers and cloth are midways. I think I'll finish it tomorrow and start my favorite part. Faces. 30 faces to be painted. I have problem with them, cause it's feels like I spend more time painting faces then any other part. Just can't create pipeline like for all other parts. It's simple for armour. Like dark blue, next mix 1:1 dark and medium blue. Next add light blue to mix. And finish with light blue alone. Simple. But faces always looks bad if I try use some standard approach in mass. Something looks good on bald guy, but horrible on meltagunner.

I would be glad for any suggestions.

If it's any consolation, faces are often the focal point for models, so it makes sense that they're time consuming. I can't really add anything beyond that, because all of my armies are either helmeted, or not human (undead, orcs, etc), where a level of uniformity is more visually acceptable.

As someone else who has painted a million guardsmen (or so it feels like - it was more like 200), I basically batch painted my skin in different groups.  So, I had 4 or so different skin tones, would determine which models had which skin tone (usually semi-randomly), then would batch paint the skin for that group of skin tones together.  Maybe something similar would work for you.

Oh, that's nice idea, gonna try tomorrow.

Done drab and leather today. Now it's faces, weapons, auqilas and individual small gubbins left.

After that there is 3 sentinels, half done castellan and unfinished baneblade which need lenses and weathering. Once this complete I would have no unpainted IG minis and switch to my nids where another 60 infantry bodies waiting for me

Completed Yellow squad. Here they are alone and with their platoon.

Two more squads almost done, and tomorrow I finish them. There is only red Aquilas and some metallics aren't finished.

Next gonna be second castellan who also almost done and need only drab and weapon to be painted .

Finished all battleline units. There is last blob of twenty and army shoot without vechicles and ogryns who's wip right now.

I wish I finish last two bullgryns and castellan tomorrow. There is very few touches for them. And technically basecoated sentinels who need to be repainted in new( or upgraded colour scheme). That's looks good on the shelf and after I got all remained infantry, which is twice current body count I've got a company.

Loving the family portrait!

A fully painted army is always a stirring achievement.

Thanks,  yeah it's my favorite state of army, when it's done and on parade in all it's glory, though there is 2/3 of army is absent and it's looks like I need to build kind of second floor to fit whole planned force on single shelf.

I'm almost done with my Owned Astra Militarum. There is only one bullgryn, which I failed to paint cause of wrong colours are chosen and he go to repaint and two sentinels are left.

First Major and second in command in regiment Karl Mannerkheim, master of siege and defense. Beloved strategy - static defence.

I really love this kit. Good pile of options. You can make 3 different castellans and they all looks good, and you get a lot of options for your kit bash

Do you remember Bop? He is done. With some reworks and some OSL Bop is ready to defend Imperium and fight it's enemies. Right now it's something slaaneshy I think

I'll never tired to say how I love ogryns kit. They just cool. You can make and paint them GW way, you can make them heroes or villain and they looks always amazing.

Whish I have some time on the week and finish last bullgryn. And with The Emperor's grace have time for sentinels. They are large so it's shouldn't be hard to paint them to new standard.

As always I would be happy if you leave any feedback or criticism. It's always helps to paint minis better.

Finished skin on bullgryn bonehead. There's some work needed to finish armour, virtually few glazes and next gonna be shield. If I would be lucky I'll finish him tomorrow. Also this is the first time I'm happy how face and especially eyes looks.
