Deus_Ex_Machina
As the title says. I don´t own a Game Pass and right now I can´t access the two other game modes (PvP & PvE) to play with other players. So do I need to purchase the Game Pass subscription in order to do that? Right now I can play campaign missions and operations with two bots. crimsondave
Unfortunately, yes. The cheapest version is $10 a month I think. Grotsmasha
Yes, GamePass has replaced Xbox Live Gold, and is a prerequisite for online play. IMO GamePass is a much better deal tha Live ever was. Special Officer Doofy
Xbox live gold got renamed to Xbox game pass core. It's still only $60 for a 12 month subscription, but now you can play a rotating list of like 25 games for free as well. If you pay it monthly, it's $10 a month. Just like gold was. So you only get more for the same money now. Deus_Ex_Machina
In the past I have bought redeem codes from department stores in order to pay for games which were not available as a physical copy. Can I purchase the subscription with such redeem codes? I don´t want to reveal my bank account online in order to pay for this subscription. Deus_Ex_Machina
I just checked. You can also pay via gift cards aka redeem codes. In "Learn more" it says Price may be increased with at least 30 days notice. Is this a thing in the gaming industry to later raise the price of the subscription after you have purchased it? This is a thing in life. Netflix and Hulu have had price increases over the years. If you pay $60 for a year, and nine months in they increase it to $80, you still have your three months. If you pay monthly, it might go up one month. Microsoft is the largest (or second, they keep switching spots with Apple) company in the world by market cap. They are not in the business of alienating their customers and playing bait and switch. Also, it has been $60 for Xbox live gold since the Xbox 360 days. They haven't changed the price in well over a decade, which is more than what GW can say haha. It's easy to not raise the price when they basically gave you nothing to begin with. I'd give give GW more credit for providing a product for your money. Spend $60 a year and you're still playing games p2p matchmaking? Big Mac ads on the dashboard your paid service? Stuff like that makes GW look good. Hosting the online servers for games to connect people around the world and allow them to play together and also providing a rotating list of multiple paid games for free is nothing? Like I said the service's price hasn't increased in years and only offers more as time goes on. Charging for marked up plastic for a game that changes every 3 years and makes you pay for the rules to play with said plastic seperately, often being outdated on release? Won't even let buy the rules digitally, makes you have to buy paper to play? Paying $60 for a codex that lasts less than a year? Stuff like that makes Microsoft look good. If you play 2 or more factions you're spending over $60 a year on average for rules to even play with your "product". (core rules + codex + codex). Not to mention those rules change during the three year cycle and become out dated and need pdf support to be up to date and usable. Such a weird take to somehow think Microsoft is a ripoff but GW is not. Like, what are you paying $5 a month for? The privilege of playing your xbox online? Sure, GW is trash in it's own way, but trying to justify how much MS has charged for Live is ridiculous. Not every game is peer to peer match making. Not every studio/publisher supports their own dedicated servers either. And even 15 years ago gold still gave you free games. I'm just saying GW is far worse than Microsoft when it comes to nickel and diming people, it's weird to complain about MS pricing on a forum dedicated to a GW product with far worse pricing and practices. But you do you, this is off topic. GamePass is cheaper than 2 AAA games per year, and significantly more games come to the service than that, it's a bargain. ADDITIONALLY, every account on the XBox gets access to GamePass, so it covers my whole Family.
