Deus_Ex_Machina
So after playing a few hours in the campaign mode I decided to focus first on the Vanguard class instead of Tactical. Why? Because I want to see people scratch their heads when an Iron Hands Vanguard is zipping around the map like Usain Bolt on speed. :) Besides of that the class meshes Batman (grappling hook) and Rambo (combat knife). You can´t become more badass than that. After doing the training scenarios of the Vanguard and subscribing to the PROS account I had enough resources from the start to easily obtain all Iron Hands cosmetics which were available at the start of the game. Yesterday I played the first operations twice on easiest difficulty. The first time I failed and the second time success was mine. What did I learn? Parrying elite enemy attacks is more difficult than those of the lesser creatures. And jumping into the middle of an enemy pack with little armour AND STILL kicking a$$ is just great. But I also wanted to play this game in the future with people. So I bought the Game Pass Core subscription today and was a little bit surprised that the game immediately assigned two players to me without asking me, if I wanted to play with bots instead. Well, I need to familiarize myself better with the lobby and how it functions. This is how my first co-op game went: Me being a Vanguard Lvl 2 noob with some experience was teamed up with Ollie and Raptor. Both were Lvl 1 (Assault & Heavy). After 75% of the operation had been finished one of my mates was dead and I tried to find his prone form to revive him. Just when this occurred the other team member NOPED out of the game. Funnily, the game instantly provided me with two bots who helped me complete the mission. I still suffered a single incapacitation although the bots are trained to revive you instantly. The scenario was completed successfully and now my Iron Hands Vanguard is an unstoppable Lvl 3 killing machine. :) Edited September 11 by Deus_Ex_Machina Xenith 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/383959-your-first-space-marine-2-experiences-note-don%C2%B4t-spoil-campaign-play/ Share on other sites

Sothalor
Installed on a rig well surpassing system requirements... Non-stop crashing within 4 minutes of loading the prologue. Unplayable. Do research. Known issue. No fixes. Remember that I QA'd a Saber Interactive game that ran over schedule and budget by nearly two years and they perpetually couldn't get a handle on hard crashes. Feel like an idiot for buying into the hype and getting excited. Deus_Ex_Machina
I suffered zero crashes so far. A couple of minutes ago my fourth run of the Inferno mission has been completed successfully. This time I ran with bots again and RNGeesus decided to screw me over big time because it assigned a Bulwark and an Assault to my team. I don´t have to tell you that dealing with Zoanthropes with that team was pure cancer. Both bots stood there and watched as the floating bug hurled psychic energy at me. Intervening on my behalf? Nope, we only do melee! Deal with that kind of creature yourself, playaaa! Overall it was the most difficult run which I experienced so far and this was still on Easy difficulty. Unsurprisingly my marine suffered five incapacitations but this time I decided to search the area for armoury data instead of rushing each area and also found it. NovemberIX
So I've had a weird experience, last night I played the game co-op, the second half of the first mission got skipped during a weird map transfer, after a restart we finished the second mission then called it a night, but when we started today it restarted the second mission. Looks like there's no way to load a save so, we just had to do it over again. The two things I have issues with is taking damage during healing animation, and there's weird timings on the parry system between enemy types. Grotsmasha
Got the game last night, played the first two story missions, and have run through the Inferno Operation 5 or 6 times, with 3 successful. First time around I was forced to choose an alternate and went for the Heavy, and have been quite enjoying it since. Will be hitting the Campaign properly tonight co-op. The only thing that frustrates me is the forced order of unlocking paint colours and badges. Why, if I want black armour should I need to get the Black Legion Icon? Cpt_Reaper
Just wanted to mention the custom marine builder. I am disappointed in it. No ability to save a custom colour scheme across classes - had to remake it 6 times lack of options - why can I only paint the full leg and not just the greaves? Why can't I choose eye lens colour and the face plate? Overall it's a 7/10. Marshal Rohr
Been getting operations in every chance I have since Thursday. Great game. Ran smoothly until general release and now everything takes forever. Apart from that it’s an amazing co-op experience with friends but it suckkkkkssss so hard with randoms in matchmaking. You’ll have a dude trying to fight every creature because they think it gets more experience and a dude spending ten extra minutes searching for pick ups. When you play with buddies and can be line through while checking the spawns for the pick ups the pace is great, the AI is working correctly, and most importantly you FEEL like a space marine moving fast through the AO to complete a mission. 10/10 would recommend everyone find a solid group and play as often as possible. Casual Heresy
I've almost finished the campaign after playing all day yesterday (yes I took a day's holiday just to play a video game) and I love it. It is by no means perfect but it 's everything I hoped for. Melee can be a bit tricky (especially against Tyranid Warriors and Lictors!) but still love charging into a horde of enemies with a power sword in hand. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of weapons in the game. I hadn't realised we'd get Las-Fusils and Boltrifles with grenade launchers but I'm very happy they're in. Matcap86
So far pretty disappointed tbh, combat feels a bit clunky in single player. They clearly designed the game to be online first and then used those systems for the single player campaign missions which detracts from them imho. I came into the game expecting the same power fantasy from the first game and instead I have worse firepower than 2-3 termagaunts who can pick off 60% of your health before you even noticed they randomly spawned behind you. Not very happy I rushed out to purchase it. While playing with a friend is certainly better going into missions with strangers is not too bad. Most are decent and willing to cooperate when you point pick-ups to them. So far I have played 22 missions and there weren´t too many atrocious experiences associated with them. Deus_Ex_Machina
What bugs have you experienced? Apart from a player gliding a few metres across the landscape there have been two REALLY annoying instances where the camera was off. It switched into first person view but you moved slowly and sluggishly like a drunkard. A few minutes later the camera tried to readjust but was stuck too close to the right shoulder. So my view was very bad as half of the screen was obscured. One time this wouldn´t go away and I had to abort the mission and the second time I was lucky and the view returned to normal after a few minutes. Deus_Ex_Machina
How do I kick players during and/or between missions on XBox? I was the host and one player decided to roll around the map the whole time thus barely helping out. The third player asked me during the run to kick him (Vote to kick) but as I am unfamiliar with that stuff the offending player stayed in the team. The complaining player left the run and another joined to finish the mission successfully. The name of the rolling player was: The Caveman 100. Nomen est omen. KaosRaptor
Played through the campaign and loved it, just wish it could've been a tad longer. No major bugs or anything either, just some slight graphical issues but that could've been just due to my aging pc. I've also done a few operations, primarily as Heavy and Assault, and looking forward to doing more when I have time. Assault's jump pack functions differently than the campaign one though, that's gonna take some getting used to. Only real complaint is other players taking all the med-stimms when I'm Assault, have none and at low health.... Haven't touched pvp yet, but I'll probably give it a go at some point. Bring up the Edit Squad menu via the Y button (you'll need to go to the pause menu first if you're already in mission) then to scroll down to the relevant player and select the "X" icon to initiate a kick vote. It´s good etiquette to indicate loot for other players. That functions honestly really well. What never goes well is the stealing of finishers. A player is on low armour thus fighting for his life and the solution is to achieve a finisher and replenish the protection. Sadly often he has to see that some other player steals the finisher depriving him of said security. Commander Dawnstar
So if you have two votes for kick the player is removed? I believe so. I've only had it come up once so far (when someone had seemingly AFK'd on the Battle Barge). What never goes well is the stealing of finishers. A player is on low armour thus fighting for his life and the solution is to achieve a finisher and replenish the protection. Sadly often he has to see that some other player steals the finisher depriving him of said security. I really wish we could see our teammates' armour plates as well as their health bars. That'd make it a lot easier to appreciate when someone else badly needed the kills in situations like that. Deus_Ex_Machina
And the fun is over. Today the game decided to not connect to the server anymore. So online play has become impossible. And no, offline play is not an option either for a modern game. I have learned my lesson well in that regard with Injustice 2 (IJ2). My toons were being levelled by the AI for months in order to gain the Legendary Items while I was painting minis. After I have reconnected to the IJ2 servers all my offline progress was erased. Complaining to the support team didn´t help either: "We are sorry for your loss." In the same vein this also happened to me in SM2. Today in the morning I could log in at first though the game has erased my recent progress from yesterday for some weird reason which meant I went from Lvl 22 to Lvl 19. And all successful Trial missions for the other classes has gone too. The solution to this was to immediately leave the game and try to reconnect again as this was already the second time that this progress loss occurred to me in SM2 but this time the server has been disconnected to me since now. Edit: Server is back to normal. Deus_Ex_Machina
Another useful tip: Players have reported that they have been booted from teams by their mates after doing a mission. So I guess you are safe from this fate, if you happen to be the Squad Leader? As a consequence just make sure when playing with strangers that you are the Squad Leader to avoid this fate. Deus_Ex_Machina
A new issue: Yesterday I was in a run with two bots, picked up the gene-seed (YAY!) and only a minute later the game yanked me out of the mission. Now the screen is black, the progress bar is full and reads: HOST MIGRATION What does this mean? I have shut down the console and went back into the game with zero effect so far. Screen is black with that strange progress bar. Edit: The issue has been resolved.
