Greetings!

I’ve just returned to the hobby after a number of years away. Have started building a Black Templars force.

I’ve got the stuff from the Leviathon Box set and a few extra Black Templars units.

Would like to create a fluffy army themed around a crusade into the great rift (as pictured) - lots of Templars and fanatical pilgrims and sisters of battle etc watched over by Ordo Hereticus- is that even possible anymore?

Welcome back to the Eternal Crusade, brother!

There's nothing really preventing your imagined army, which is a very cool project. There might be concerns with how competitive the rules will be with many different parts, but rules come and go, so I wouldn't let that dictate any long term army building projects.

Thank you!
I’m starting with some models from the Leviathan box as I get used to painting again. Want to do the Blanchitsu style but it’s a bit of a learning curve!
here was I have painted so far this week.

Putting multiple factions together is a little more challenging at the moment. I think Codex: Imperial Agents is the way to do it now.

Good shout - I’ll order that later this week.
Whilst I’m interested in having an army that can hold its own on the table having something I like the story behind is better for me

I like the idea behind your Crusade and all the various Imperial factions it will host. Look forwards to this.

It’s got me very excited thinking about potential allied - the thought of a massive armed pilgrimage heading for the Imperium Nihilis would be so cool. I’ve only got Templars at present but get Inquisition Ordo Hereticus next. Then who knows??

Ditto ^

I've considered a squad or two of Sororitas, that seems thematic for Black Templars? Also a squad or two of Crimson Fists?

Crimson Fists are amazing. I prefer their scheme to Imperial Fists and love their iconography. Definitely thematic as part of chapters of Dorn…

I need to get the Imperial Agents Book to see how I can get stuff in.
I’m not clear how to begin other Space Marines in so will just use my Templars.

I have a small force of sister. even painted about a dozen, but they're far from done, becuause, my attention keeps being on the marine force. been a huge undertaking to up the templarness of them since the BT range refresh of 21

I am tempted to do one squad of Imperial Fists for the challenge aspect of painting their yellow armor lol. I could end up regretting that if I ever follow it through?

They've always been one of my favorite chapters that I never did a real collection of and painted/played them. I did a hard reset of my 40k hobby selling off 22k+ of space marines and various other special edition and collectible stuff last October. Then started a brand new collection of Black Templars. I've had 0 regrets of what I  did  or choosing to do a new collection of Black Templars, especially with the range refresh which imo GW did the best job of so far compared to the Dark Angels (close), and Blood Angels (not close).

The refreshed models in the range are incredible. I’m waiting on a squad of Crusaders as all the models I have were from Leviathan.

The Sisters models are my favourite in the whole range so I will definitely be getting some - and Celestine, just because!

I decided not to go anywhere near them. The High Marshal’s gold armour will be enough of a challenge without those guys!! I wouldn’t know jeers to start with all that yellow.

They’re incredible - so full of character. Can’t wait to start adding some of ‘our’ models to the collection rather than generic from the starter box.
