Inquisitor_Lensoven
How do I make the zhandri colored part look more like sandy beach sand? I have Baylor brown which is a fairly yellow brown, and various shades of yellow. might I need some sort of darker wash to complete the sandy look? LameBeard
For my sandy bases I do this: Zhandri dust basecoat Agrax Eathshade wash Zhandri dust heavy drybrush mix in wraithbone with zhandri dust for second drybrush Wraithbone final drybrush you can shortcut some steps. I also found you get a close match with: mechanicus standard grey basecoat zenithal white or off-white through airbrush watered down Zhandri dust on top i will try to find some photos to see if you like the effect Edited Monday at 08:49 PM by LameBeard Typo Firedrake Cordova and Inquisitor_Lensoven 2 Back to top

LameBeard
No air brush unfortunately :/ But version 1 is no airbrush, in case I wasn’t clear. It’s using dry brush technique. I can’t find any (board appropriate) 28mm scale right now. But see how these also look more natural on the left with varied texture, rather than the right, where it’s all the same. Grotsmasha
I water down my Agrax for a lighter effect, but otherwise do Lamebeard's method too LameBeard 1 Back to top
INKS
On a light sanded base: (or texture base) Use Casandora Yellow - citadel thinned 50/50 with water you need to feather it out after washing it on. Video explains it well. Ignore the water part. LameBeard and Inquisitor_Lensoven 1 1 Back to top

I’ll be at a game shop tomorrow, I’ll see if they have any thing like that texture paint. ill be painting some water onto the terrain at the edges, but I already have my own method for that. thanks for the video INKS 1 Back to top
Sky Potato
I used to use the now discontinued Armageddon Dunes, wash all over with Seraphim Sepia, brush Tyrant Skull. Base runs in Steel Legion Drab. Using Seraphim Sepia as the wash doesn’t darken the Zandri Duat coloured sand down as much as Agrax does. I’m trying to find a replacement for Armageddon Dunes - I’ve got a thread open for it. It’s basically Zandri Dust, the texture is what’s gone. Armageddon Dust still exists, it’s the same colour but with a finer texture. LameBeard 1 Back to top
Firedrake Cordova
I'd have thought a thinned wash of Seraphim Sepia, and then a re-drybrush of Zandri Dust followed by a Zandri Dust/Ushabti Bone mix should have got a reasonable result? No air brush unfortunately :/ You can get decent results for zenithal effects using a big round drybrush if you pay attention to the direction of brushing.
