Someone on reddit mentioned that the new Warcry got leaked early last week, so they probably went into damage control mode and thursday was the first day they could do it when it was meant to be shown off this week. Someone has also asked the Warhammer team on twitter and they've said that there will be one on the 7th.

I agree this is definitely a case where it would have been fun to see the community build some models. It’s a bit amazing to me that there’s just a single assault marine they’ve built drawing a power sword on the GW site to demonstrate the kit. It doesn’t tell us anything about how things like the power spear or thunder hammer look.

In my limited experience, GW tends to send out previews of its bigger boxes, like the Mk3 box and the ones for SA and Mech. Other stuff may or may not be sent out, and we never know why they choose what they do. They didn’t send this or the Legion command sprue out, though full kits do tend to be sent.

I can’t explain the time this kit has taken to appear. Ideally it should have been a day one release along with the many different types of special and heavy weapon. But clearly they’ve had to scrabble to produce a kit after players demanded it.

Don't think it's a case of scrabbling, this kit has been on the road map for basically 2 years at this point. It is baffling that it took them so long though.

Seems to have been popular, quite a few discount FLGS in the UK have sold through their allocations already.

Love the sprues, but I really think GW should have doubled up the sprues in the box. I'll probably pick one up just for the bits pile, but I think it's a set of sprues shy. 15 chainswords + 6 sheathed would have been a nicer number, enough for one full 20-man Despoiler squad with 5 power weapons and a spare (rip if you wanna use spears), or two 10-man squads.

I mean I 3D print and when I want extra official bits, I'll just hit up eBay. It's a fantastic kit, it just feels a bit light compared to the Special and Heavy Weapon kits, given that they have enough bits to convert 3 full squads while this one can do one, maybe two at a push (alongside options that, while nice, should have been included in the sprues anyway).

8/10 for sure. Probably gonna hang fire to see if they get included in a big box in the next Marine wave tho.

Or this is the calm before the storm. I reckon that we're going to get hit by the preorders by the battleforces (my guess is next Sunday for them) followed up by the new Lord of the Rings box the week after.

War of the Rohirrim drops in cinemas on 13th December, so I'm going to guess the 24th for the preorder preview so that it can release on 14th December. I'd be fairly surprised if it was earlier than that. It'll probably also be the last GW release of the year, so Battleforces next week, KT & any AOS mopping up the week after, LotR the week after and then the preview articles are likely to be fairly quiet until the New Year. Or at least, Christmas.

Of course, this all depends on when they start previewing Astra Militarum, which are supposedly coming early in 2025.

I believe we have another preview show this month which is perfect to reveal the Krieg box. Do not know when it is other than 'it's this month'
