And with plastic development lead times, warehouse issues, changing plans, delivery issues, and seeming production bottlenecks, it is not surprising if some stuff just comes late in an edition. That is if the rumours of 30k entering the edition churn are true.

This kit looks pretty nice and has some cool bits for kitbashing. I will just add to the noise that it would have been ideal to have the Tactical box contain 2x 10 body sprues and 1x 20 bolter arms sprue. Despoiler box could contain 2x 10 running body sprues and 1x 20 Chainsword/bolt pistol arms. Add on kits could then be Heavy weapons /special weapons /power weapons. Pointless wishlisting but it’s okay to dream.

There's plenty of examples of people with giant collections of Infantry models. No need to make fun of people's aspirations/ambitions.

It's REALLY easy to just state a big number and say "that's what I want", but is it a healthy ambition?

I thought GW were bad for "taking advantage" over us as consumers and "leveraging FOMO", but then it's aspirational to promote this idea? Weird.

$47 is a kinda heafty price. Dispoilers will be $100 a squad.

Considering a squad of 10 despoilers was previously something like £100 (GBP) from FW (and more if you wanted a special melee weapon), I'll take it!

Overconsumption is the new black. And a good way to lord having money over the poor. Tiktok is awash with it.

Well done to throw in a bunch of random concepts in there? What does someone wanting to spend their own money on their own projects have to do with "GW taking advantage or FOMO"? Horus Heresy minis are easily available with barely any FOMO going on. Or did you just want to say "GW bad" for no reason?

Also didn't know you were the 'acceptable amount of mini's purchased police'. If someone can afford to buy that project and sees it through to completion, which is a large amount of work; good on them. Same as people fixing up an old car, collecting retro games, building LEGO or whatever other hobby people get into.

I'm too much of a hobby butterfly to lock into a singular project, so I like that they've set a long term goal and are pursuing it. You know... those are their ambitions and aspirations I was talking about.

Just because someone else chooses to consume something you don't, doesn't mean they're "lording it over the poor". Maybe get off TikTok if it's distorting your view of other hobbyists that much.

It's also really easy to just take your negative worldview and project it on others.

Let other people enjoy their hobby and be excited for once is all I'm saying.

I've got 14,000 ish points of Emperor's Children. 8000 of it is painted. That includes c.100 infantry.

At no point did I aspire to do this or respond to fomo. It was a totally organic growth.

I'm enjoying the journey and the gaming. I do not feel taken advantage of nor has it impacted on my family as I've acquired stuff through the sale of other stuff. You make some hefty, sweeping assumptions there.

I'm looking forward to the melee weapon release so I can give Tarvitz, Eidolon and jetbike praetor their command squads,  and finish off some assault squads as I've been waiting for accessible power mauls and charnabal Sabres.

I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't go out, I don't play video games. GW/ sw legion are my hobbies and where I choose to spend. I certainly don't laud anything over anyone and being a teacher, my income is "ok" but certainly not something to shout about. Better than some, worse than some. Such is life.

I am stoked about this kit. I have plans for a lot of it and only wish it had come

sooner. I have an event in January I would have liked all these options for sooner. I know 3d printing exists, but I personally need the restriction of things mostly being from GW in order to make any process. Consequently this has also slowed my heresy intake way down over the years, but that’s another thread.

I actually quite like GW, but at the same time I'm not impressed by somebody dropping a Dr Evil "ONE MILLION MODELS" boast.

Funny thing is, no one is trying to impress you here. People are just expressing their enthusiasm for their projects.

You meanwhile, feel the need to ridicule, judge and comment negatively without any context.

I've tagged mods.

Feels like a missed opportunity on WarCom this week. Once again there's been no Heresy Thursday article. Given how long awaited this kit is, and that it goes on pre-order tomorrow (my finger is already hovering over the pre-order tab on my website of choice), I fully expected a "community/studio paints..." type article or something to showcase the kit. Guessing Underworlds has taken up all such resource this week.

I must confess I thought they'd do something. They normally do an article at least for the new releases. I'll still be grabbing some but feels off they're not acknowledging it.

I think you misread their post, which was a desire to complete a chapter/have 1000 marines. Either way:

=][= Play nice, and no more on how people want to collect their armies, or...I guess trying to shame them for being proud of having that many models? =][=

Maybe because it has been so delayed and it is, after all, just an option set. Had it released back with the assault squad or the command squad we probably would have seen it used. We also have not seen any influencers doing their thing, so GW marketing most likely though the window for that had come and gone

Yeah, that's kind of interesting, they even managed to work in the Blood Angels Armory Set with an influencer (Cult of Paint) post, but I guess that also tied in with the release of their rules so maybe that's why

I can't wait for this kit to be out of stock for 6 months because people panic buy 10+ boxes like it's toilet roll during lockdown.

So that does get me a little irritated

Let me be clear upfront, I genuinely do not care about people's collecting habits. You just want to paint one mini a year? Cool. You want to recreate the entire 1st Legion at the height of the Great Crusade all with GW parts? Awesome, if that brings you happiness, especially nowadays, then enjoy it.

But with GW's limited stock issues, it does get me a little miffed when something that has just come out is out of stock, then you see a post with someone who bought 3 LE boxes, or 5 of something else. On one hand, great you got what you wanted, but on the other, it would be nice to be able to have bought one too

But I guess that's more an issue with GW than the collector

Not really. If everyone just bought a few at a time, there would be plenty left, in 4 months when they actually start building something. Same thing with lockdown hoarding. If people buy the normal amount there is stock for a decent amount of time.

100% this. GW frequently struggle to meet demand. If it sells out super fast, they didn’t cast enough. The Skaventide box seems to be the only thing that’s been easy to get copies of recently (Just picked up a very good deal on this for a someone’s Christmas present).

The Imperial Fist project was going to be "only" 3000 points. However partly because it was the last project I talked about with my Grandma before she passed away and partly because of simply how much joy it brought it's ended up being well over 500 models.

And because of my love for the Imperial Fists rather than collect multiple armies over 30k I'm going all in on a full chapter's worth of IF. Not too impress anyone but because it's a passion project important to me.

@Matcap86 @01RTB01 Thank you guys :)

@Marshal Reinhard Well it does require a lot of sacrifice. But it is worth it. Like 01RTB01 I don't drink or smoke or play videogames. It is pretty much just Warhammer* and within that just Imperial Fists. It is well worth it though. The most satisfaction in the twenty odd years of the hobby has come from the Imperial Fists project.

*I have no Netflix subscription for example, but I've been with Warhammer+ since Day 1 and regret nothing. Warhammer is my passion.

I’m ashamed to admit that I was unreasonably annoyed that there was no Heresy Thursday again! It’s pretty much the only content I go to WHC for (especially now they’ve removed the RSS feed).

I’m beginning to think that WHC has downsized their team. They just don’t seem to produce the content they once did and there’s a lot of ‘filler’ articles.
