Ok. I keep getting the run around on rules

so there are rules. They just aren’t complete. And you still have to buy them even though gw said they would be free

The Equipment Rules are available online.

The Team Rules are avaliable online.

The actual Core Rules aren't fully online.

Ok well at least that means you don’t need the Hivestorm dossier for full play.

You could buy this set, the BRB, a killzone or two, the equipment sprue, approved ops cards and download a bunch of stuff and have the full game.

Or you could buy hivestorm. But to be fair if you want these teams the price is somewhat comparable.

Which is such an odd split.  Again like 40K 10th rules are split down into multiple documents available in different ways.  Once FAQs/dataslates come there will be yet more to keep track of.

Team rules being separate and free (in full no less) is great.  The way they were spread across campaign books in the last edition was an absolute pain.  So GW have shown with this edition they can do rules distribution well.

If they want everyone to own the core book (not entirely unreasonable as the game can be played using existing collections) they need to simply put a code in the book.  This would lead to a single online document in app which was kept updated with all changes.

£30 for rules for a single purchase (no subscription like 40K) and free teams rules would be a good compromise.  It would also be much simpler.  What do you need to play Core book/core unlock in app and teams document, that's it.

I ended up caving and bought this set - the value when considering a thrid party discount is too hard to ignore

Might finally do that Under sea Plague Marine Kill Team I've always wanted to do after seeing the Dredge marine stuff.

I know the models you're on about, I love those guys. Mezgike is an extremely talented sculptor.

The half-and-half approach to the rules seems...odd. If they were going to make you buy the core book to play it (which I actually don't inherently dislike, speaking as a treeware appreciator) why make some of the rules online-only? Or am I misunderstanding and the other stuff is available in book form too?

My issue is more about how proud they were about free rules. But they aren’t completely free. Fine but tell people that and stop patting yourself on the back for free rules that don’t fully exist

Seem to have slipped through without a community mention, but the full Plague marine rules are up.

They seem to have a gimmick that there's a bunch of levers they can pull to make your day worse once you've been hit by a plague weapon and got a poison token (on top of it dealing a wound each subsequent turn).

Community site has been very thin on articles this week.
