In response to a suggestion to add a reaction to express sadness/sorrow, we created the Support reaction. Like the other reactions (minus Respectfully Disagree), this reaction garners a reputation point for the recipient; and all reactions are counted in a badge/achievement progression for giving reactions to other members' content.

The concept behind the Support reaction is that you are expressing your support for some other member. Maybe they've just experienced a personal loss. Maybe they're working hard on a project and need encouragement. Maybe it's some other situation in which you support them.

The imagery is based on some really old lore explaining the Crimson Fists Chapter icon being based on a ritual in which Rogal Dorn would clasp left hands, palm(s) cut open to intermingle blood, with fellow Space Marines. The original versions didn't work well because the black outlines blended too much with the crimson and dark blue. Eventually, we decided upon the lighter colors you see.

We're still looking into options for a sadness/sorrow reaction, but figured this one was ready for prime time.

Would a "Commiseration" reaction with an icon styled after the Medallion Crimson work for a Sadness/Sorrow reaction?

I like the Vibe of the Support icon, but I feel it's gonna be used more as a combination of Love and Agree since you "Support" that viewpoint/message/colourscheme/etc.

Idk if we need ANOTHER positive leaning emote.

Support at least makes sense since there are times I don't necessarily agree or like something but I do support the share or the poster, so I get it (tho I feel like it's stretching).  If people hadn't gotten so riled up about the negative emojis there would be more need for nuance, but since there was SUCH a reaction (I'm pretty sure it was just a specific few complainers, probably the same ones who got upset about the laughing emoji enough to require to have even more rules around it's use), emojis shouldn't really be that much of a worry.

I mean, no one should be that wrapped up with internet accolades, but that's a genie that escaped the bottle a long time ago.

The Sons of Dorn's practice is a way better idea that what I proposed (2 hands forming the sign of the aquila).

Yours was such a good idea it seems so obvious now, as the best ideas do.  Also, great execution on the icon itself.

This is now my favourite emoji, not just here, but across all social mediums.
