What I really like about this guy is he's just fancy enough to stand out as a consul, but flexible enough with current bits to be other specialties than just overseer. His body positioning and arms are flexible. Easy conversions: Chaplain as is, Champion w/ mace replaced with paragon blade/power weapon from melee upgrade/praetor, Herald with banner from command upgrade, Delagatus with spare weapons.

I think I want to convert him to a Herald, using the big banner from the command squad upgrade kit and a hand holding the helmet, replace the head, and snipping the backpack banner either to leave as "bare" or add a Salamanders brazier from their primaris upgrade kit.

I like him. I would probably swap the helmet, but it is otherwise a cool model. I am still torn on weather or not I want to buy more FW resin when I was so burned by it in the past.

Newer stuff is fine. I grabbed the EC praetors, Lucius and fulgrim and honestly zero issues. I get very fussy when paying fw prices and I honestly had no issues. Didn't even need to bend the spear for the praetor.

Miles ahead of the old fw kits.

Sometimes I wonder to myself, why do I even like the Horus Heresy?  I already know how it ends.  It's using old rules, like it's the Windows XP of Warhammer.

Then I look at miniatures like this and I'm like, oh, right, that's why I like the Horus Heresy.

i collect all of GW's model lines and don't play any of them. Rules come and go but a nicely modeled and painted mini is forever.

I concur. I want to do Warcry and Kill Team, but never even get time for those

I would love to turn this guy into a 40k chaplain. I wonder how well a Reiver helm would go with him?

For the record, the SoH Overseer from the Beta-Garmon book may clue us in as to what we should expect from the Traitor version:

presuming the pose doesnt end up too bad, and swapping the whip with a crozius proves easy enough, it's *this* guy that's probably gonna be the basis for my loyalist IF chaplain, albeit with a headswap and replacing the backpack's ornamentation. I like the loyalist overseer, but the trim and decorations are a bit too fancy for him to make a chaplain in my opinion. I want my chaplain, even heresy era, to have a bit of dour brutishness to him, so the chainmail, chained greave, skull, and spiked pauldron seen here are all perfect for the IF chaplain I'd like to make.
