Mitre as headgear for some bodyguards is a very poor design choice. So far it has been consistently tied to the imperial clergy of various ranks. Not a fan of the chainhalberds either - the curve cuts too deep inwards making them look really fragile. The priestess is nice though.

These are not Imperial clergy and their underlings. They are Necromunda nobles, with all the arrogance and superiority that brings. Equipping their bodyguards with headgear that is normally reserved for clergy is absolutely spot on for the type of people these models represent.

I totally hear you, but like that guy during a Warhammer Preview said (it was for the Old World, Bretonnians), "My helmet is a church!"

 

I thought that was hilarious because it's so true.  "My helmet is a church" explains so much about Warhammer in general.

Literally everything these lads make is better than everything in the main games. They clearly have a lot of stake in the setting and a real feel for the historical artwork of the edges of the setting

They also have a lot more creative freedom than the sculptors that sculpt 40k.

Is it though? Let's assume that your interpratation that Prima Materis is not a real priestess and the Frateris bodyguards are not real Frateris is correct. She is the one, who in this group should be masquerading with priestly outfit, not her henchmen, if they are trying to fool the masses. I also have hard time imagining how a not so powerfull noble house could enjoy such good relations with the Ecclesiarchy (they are effectively glued to it) if its members were parading in public dressed up in full priesthood regalia, not only pretending to be members of Adeptus Ministorum but also giving the whole garb to some nobodies.

Maybe I'm missing out on some broader necromunda lore, but I'm pretty sure the house is heavily affiliated with the church. Lots of monetary donations, sending family to the sororitas, fanning the flames of religion, and basically controlling a cult (cawdor) that further helps the church. It feels like the ministorun gives them patronage in the same way they do for cawdor, and they try and leverage that for their own ends, while still benefitting the church. Like, do you think they'd just be able to make a bunch of ministorum branded things, call themselves a ministorum delegation, and send them out into the hive without permission and sanction? In such a corrupt setting where they're in competition with other houses that could report them?

 

Like maybe, drawing some inspiration from a minority of priest models is...the point?
