Leopold Helveine
Heya, after reading whitedwarf's Arks of Omen I badly wanted to build a Czagra's Iron warriors army, or well.. not too large, still got a giant pile of votann shame laying around too. Rotation video: https://sendvid.com/rzb45miy Bought a warpsmith and to connect with the setting threw a son of sanguinus to the floor, not sure if its visible but the victim has some bolter holes on his chest. He's pleading but that is not going to work, the warpsmith had more pesky marines to shoot ofcourse. Also got a box of terminators to paint, already partially assembled, waiting for a box of havocs cause I want those terminators to look cooler than wielding pistols, cmon!.. And a chaos lord also coming soon in the mail, while partially-assembling a Vex machinator aswell on the side. (but have been busy painting an xmasgrot..squig' this month first) I'll throw those into this thread when they are done. Rest of images behind spoilertag to reduce load. - - - - Edited December 26, 2024 by Leopold Helveine phandaal, AutumnEffect, Deus_Ex_Machina and 10 others 8 5 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/384899-helveines-iron-warriors/ Share on other sites

Leopold Helveine
Thank you, I do sometimes think the basing is perhaps a bit too empty but then again adding tufts would distract too much from the chemistry. Firedrake Cordova
I think it's fine as it is - it keeps the focus on the mini-diorama. (if there wasn't the wounded marine on the base, then that would be different) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/384899-helveines-iron-warriors/#findComment-6083181 Share on other sites

On the other hand, it also checks out to have Space Marines fighting over something in a barren, lifeless desert wasteland! For some reason (maybe intended setting, depending on the army ofcourse) I never really feel satisfied after placing tufts heh. Leopold Helveine
After almost a month I finished my own rendition of Warsmith Czagra as a Chaos lord in Terminator armor. (Also, rotational vid: https://sendvid.com/pe4i8kuk ) Hard to convey on a gloss varnished cape' but it sports a silver IW crest (bigger version of what is on his shoulderpad) Rest behind spoilertag to reduce load: - - - - - Edited January 18 by Leopold Helveine Firedrake Cordova, Tallarn Commander, bloodhound23 and 3 others 3 3 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/384899-helveines-iron-warriors/#findComment-6088451 Share on other sites
Firedrake Cordova
He looks great. I really like the skin tone Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/384899-helveines-iron-warriors/#findComment-6088489 Share on other sites
Leopold Helveine
Thank you, I always feel like my photographs reduce how well it looks, maybe the light is too hard, ill try some thin cloth over the lamps next time, noticing the rotational video to have the fluctuations again too. The skin was a tad darker but after watching some videos on how other people paint the lighting' of faces I thought to redo it a bit with a lighter hue as the tint was otherwise similar to the helmet on the warpsmith. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/384899-helveines-iron-warriors/#findComment-6088500 Share on other sites
Dr_Ruminahui
The lighting is really effective for this model - your use of patches of bright colour combined with the desturated green and blue and the neutral iron and black really give it a horror movie feel to it and make it kind of like some of John Blanche's artwork. I think he's great. Leopold Helveine
Carnyxis Lugalaes, captain of my Terminators' (4 more to go :p ) was finished today. His name refers to the warhorn of the celts and the second part is Sumerian for lord(lugal) of Ice (aes) I'd like to think he enjoyed taking the heads of those inferior false emperor worshipping cadians, painted to allign with the blood angels, the IW sworn enemy. Dr_Ruminahui
Makes sense, though the posing of the head makes it look like his looking at his hand. To better convey what you suggest, it would be better to have him looking at where the gun is pointed. Maybe he's cracking walnuts? Minor posing issues aside, he's a very nicely painted model - very good uses of yellow and blue, with the yellow being muted enough that it worksreally nicely with the model as a whole. Firedrake Cordova
The first impression I got was that he was looking at what was in his hand too, although it could also be a trick of the camera angle as I didn't get the same reaction when I looked at the images in the spoiler. Leopold Helveine
Terminator no.2 Also facing the same way, slightly less in process of engaging. I went a bit more wild with the striped parts, will definately do less of that on the remaining 3 (only one shoulderpad and legpart). Leopold Helveine
3rd terminator although I shaded the white droopys below the shoulderplates after the photoing because I forgot to so they are slightly better looking than on here. - - - Dr_Ruminahui, Firedrake Cordova, OpossumStrong and 1 other 2 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/384899-helveines-iron-warriors/#findComment-6094923 Share on other sites
Firedrake Cordova
I do like the warm yellow you're getting on the hazard stripes - the almost brown tint to some areas of it. Tallarn Commander
Yes, there are some really subtle and well done shading effects here. A wonderfully painted model. My favorite part is the attention to detail on the trophy racks. Well done! Pearson73
Keeping up the good work, I see. I agree with the others that you're getting in some nice shifts in tone and shading that keep the colours interesting.
