I managed to paint a little this month! Actually, I managed to achieve my own little personal challenge of painting the nine minis for september!

As I didn't post a vow, that doesn't really count, but here they are:

6 Inceptors and 3 Eradicators.

I'm still thinking of an idea to keep these jump pack guys in the air, as the transparent poles keep on snapping. I'm probably going to use 3d printing supports, I've seen that somewhere, and I'll shamelessly steal the idea.

Here's a picture of them unpainted, along with the minis I had planned to paint for july and august. My personal challenge would be to paint them before the year's end.

I still don't know about my vow for october, the month is going to be hard at work.

Congratulations and good luck to everybody!

Vow complete

Had a crack at some non-metalic metal nonsense. Broadly worked. Need to work on blending.

Not totally sold on the sword, might give it another pass later.

For once I am going to make a vow at the beginning of the month instead of leaving it last minute like I have so often recently.

Once White Scare Biker, to be my player character in the upcoming Spectre of Ullanor Play by Post Game over in the Nook.

@Grotsmasha would three Saturnine Terminators be considered enough for the Seriously badge?

Definately, each one is the size of a Venerable/Box Dread and independantly worth it

The months just keep coming don't they?

October targets, paint to completion:

  1. The rest of the Astartes support box (4 Rapiers and 4 Tarantula)
  2. 3 LI Xiphons
  3. 12 pieces of LI scatter terrain (8 containers, 4 storage tanks)
  4. Solar Auxillia command squad (plus spare guy)

And also finish off the Sentinel that's into month 3, along with a bit more progress on the Dracosan (I don't expect to complete).

So this next one requires a little context,

So, having had a tough week home schooling (my boy is VERY anti-school), I took today as a personal day and spent way more time NOT doing my current Word Bearers / Space Wolves commission. Instead I did a thing that has been a LONG, LONG time in the making. After my 3D printer having spent the last ~9 months or so out of action, my brother and I finally got it sorted on Friday afternoon, and after several attempts, and restarts, I was a very happy chappy.

BUT....this model probably won't make any sense to any of you as it's a bit of an "in" joke, you see it all started way back in 2011, with voltronmarine's thread "new to warhammer 4,000", which kicked of a response from me. "Not so new to warhammer 4,000".

Jumping to 2018, 2019, or there abouts, I was upgrading my Tablet and started transferring all my data, and low and behold I found those original images again. I'd recently began dabbling in 3D printing and the next logical step leapt into my brain. Using Tinkercad, I made the model, but then never got around to printing it, there was always something more pressing, then the printer stopped working, and it never happened.

But today, when I woke up, I raced downstairs, and out to the garage.....man I had the biggest smile as I was pulling the bits from the print bed, so here we go, the pieced removed from the supports,

So, now that I had one printed, was I about to just leave it there in pieces?

Hell no!

gallery_48988_17119_58623.jpg

So now that it was assembled and primed, was I about to let it disappear into my pile'o'shame?

Hell no!

I smile everytime I see it.

It's pretty rough, FDM printers will do that, and if I didn't have to replace the FEP sheet on my resin printer, I would have used that (actually, maybe I should get around to that...).

I've also made a Bolter variant, and a mkVII helmet variant, whish is printing now....

So once I'd completed this model, I considered, and started baby steps on developing my own skirmish game centred around these models. I made several weapon and armour variants for Astartes and Chaos Marines, and an Ork.

So for Orktober, I'm going to paint that Ork, (for a size referance, that's a 60mm base) it's posable at the neck, shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees.

 October

I, Reclusiarch Jolemai , embark on the 12 Months of Hobby Challenge, and for the month of October, pledge to complete: 3x Squat Exo-Armour Saturnine Terminators by month's end.

To do:

  • Magnetise
  • Base
  • Paint

I, Brother Christopher, embark on the 12 Months of Hobby Challenge, and for the month of October pledge to complete 3 Phobos Marines and 1 Bladeguard Lieutenant by month's end.

First up, an update to the Dreadknight, it was pointed out by @MoriyaSchism that the waist was a little weedy compared to the bulk of the rest of the model, and suggested sensors and such like a classic boxnaught. I agreed, and did just that,

large.PSX_20251012_164640.jpg.b5edad474a

Next up, the counts-as Venerable Dread. I was in two minds about how to complete the conversion, and ended up flip-flopping between the two and getting as result I'm less than satisfied with. The left arm lacks bulk vs the right arm, the armour plates on the chest sit at the wrong angle. I'm seriously tempted to start again with fresh modesl.

At minimum, I'll be looking for slimmer Lascannons for the right arm. Alternatively, I could go back and the Ven Dread shoulder to the left arm. Don't know

and some size comparisons, a Saturnine Terminator vs the Ven Dread chassis,

and then the completed conversion vs the Saturnine Terminator,

large.PSX_20251008_221039.jpg.3e8769cb69

Finally, we have the Strike Marines, 11 in total, to cover the required loadouts for either Combat Patrol,
