And I am back!

I had been on a hiatus for health and life reasons, but got back into the hobby last week. 

To help me staying motivated, I would like to join the monthly hobby challenge again.

 

I, Valkia the Bloody, pledge to work on my Plogging Along Vow:

This time, it will be a roughly 1000 points Tyranid army (yes, there are also around 200 other unfinished models of various other factions sitting around here....). 

Here is the Tyranid army, primed and ready:

 

I even made first progress yesterday, since I cobbled together some "spore mines" as test objects for my paint scheme. These are just bits stuck into green stuff. 

I am going for my beloved "Blanchitsu" painting style and want to paint this tyranid army as "slippery toads in a slimy swamp-land".

I am not going to make a vow for September, since I will go on a 8 day holiday at the end of this week, so wont get anything meaningful done for the rest of September.

But hopefully, I will do a vow for a unit or two in October.

Going to move onto the myrmidax and archmagos on abeyant (Scoria stand in) next, started working on dry brushing on their metallics since they have the most on them

Got commissioned for a BT Emperor's Champion over the weekend. I received it and assembled on Wed , and spent Thu and Fri mornings working on it, really happy with the result.

I also have some Dirty Down Moss that I have yet to try out and this seems like a good candidate for that as well.

Another weekly update, managed to finish painting all of the black robed models. 

Honestly at this point I'm happy, but I'm still going to try to push to finish the 4 laecrymata guys (set apart by their white upper robes)...the tech priests are almost done, just need to highlight the metallics before tinting them. The Archmagos on the other hand...all that hard to reach trim over white so it needs multiple coats...why did I have to go for white scrubs

I am back from my holiday!

And I am motivated to get stuck in with some painting next month.

 

I, Valkia the Bloody, pledge to paint 11 Neurogaunts, 1 ripper swarm and 1 Harpy for my new Tyranid army in the month of October. 

 

 

Yes, the "Harpy" is a Leviadon, but it fits my swamp monster army perfectly and it has, typical for Tyranid bioforms. tyranid spikes and armor plates as well as 6 limbs. 

Plus, it now also has a chainsword of an unlucky space marine lodged in the carapace.

I don't think I will have the time to do them in the next two days, so I'm ready to vow for october !

I have finished the base for my Leviadon "Harpy" for my new Tyranid army. 

I would also like to extend my vow for October-

apart from painting the Harpy and 11 Neurogaunts, I would like to finish 4 Ripper Swarms- not just the one. 

Here is the finished base for the Harpy. I hope it is suitably grim-dark.

IT is not yet Oct., so a little bit early to pledge, but anyway, here is my target for October:

 

I, bouargh, enlist 12 MoH, and for teh month of October pledge to paint a custom Adeptus Mechanicus EngineSeer and a party of 8 Servitors and their lesser Babysitting-seer:

This is as far as I managed to get with the stone marine test, so calling that’s as a oath complete.

 

 

 

I did not try the dirty down moss yet, maybe will give it a try at the weekend, but the rest of it seems ok so far. Started with black, then three progressive light greys dry brushed on starting heavy and getting lighter. A wash with Athonian Camoshade and hten another grey dry brush and a light bit of grey seer at the end to catch a few edges.

 

I think I can make this work for the large Cathay Sentinel, with a little more direction and perhaps doing a few things with a mid brown dry brush or wash to give a bit more variance of the stone.

Not sure if I actually vowed but here's what I have done for September. The SoH element of the shattered legions. That's the army done, along with the board too. I'll get a better picture with them together.

First wave of September completions, tiny Fists. The SA troops are done, but need the basing doing so will aim to post tomorrow, the Sentinel will pass over another month.

This is about as far as I'll be able to get with this guy before month's end. I'm hoping to find some decent transfers to finish off the banner soon but for now I'm going to call the vow complete at tabletop level:

Man, crazy to imagine my original plan was to finish all my mechanicum by end of summer, now I'll be lucky if I'm finished by new year lol. Still got 80 tech thralls, 4 Armigers, 2 Krios, a Thanatar, and an Atrapos after this too lol. Trying to at least get all of the clergy out of the way so I never have to paint a black robe again .

Deciding to call it here got a partial completion rather than rush the laecrymata archmagos when I ain't feeling it. Hey I achieved my goal of painting every last black robe...it just cost me having to paint white robes instead. 

 

And for my next trick...

I, Cryptix, continue the 12 Months of Hobby Challenge, and for the month of October pledge to complete 20 Despoilers and 6 Objective Markers by month's end.

Between my birthday, my mum visiting, and the game I work on launching an important update, taking it slow this month. Can always vow more troops if I finish early, heaven knows I've got loads to paint :P
