I think a more vibrant pink would be better, or a pale blue or green.  The current pink is kind of the same tone and saturation as the purple, where a bit of contrast might be more effective.  Still, a really nice model - the white bolter really makes it pop.

This pic is a more accurate colour match to the model in hand, I agree it's still a bit samey, but different enough for me.

Time for the weekly update! I actually didn't make a lot of progress this week, mostly because I was more focused on doing the green stuff sculpting on the myrmidons' boss (who you can see peeking in the back here ), but I managed to get the base colors down on the myrmidons and even did the plasma on one. I'm realizing it was perhaps a mistake to do pink plasma on an army with red arms, but the precedent had already been set and I was the one who decided to do silly colors for all the OSL in the army. Also notable, got the last models in the Vow primed, including the now present armistos. Very simple conversion, I just wanted to keep that axe and flag for a future possible sons of horus dark emissary and so was born the armistos.20250507_210817.thumb.jpg.ca15b9e04719f89eb78a72742800a7e1.jpg

  May

I, Reclusiarch Jolemai , embark on the 12 Months of Hobby Challenge, and for the month of May, pledge to complete 5x Cataphractii Terminators by month's end.

To do:

  • Everything

For May, I Lamebeard, answer the call of the 12 months of hobby, and vow to complete some of these Tau:

Gun drone (needs highlights), Fire warrior (needs bonding knife and base rim), Crisis suit (needs magnetised weapons, lenses) and Flamer drone (needs everything).

Nice bright red

So this weekend I sprayed several coats of what I thought was the same red as the gun drone and it’s just not as bright - no idea what’s happened here!?

Gah, I literally had a plan to post my weekly progress after I got back from my evening run but then I got distracted by taking pretty pictures of my toys :wallbash:.

Spoiler

...but it's so nice to see them all together. Boy there sure is suddenly a lot more infantry is this supposed Armored company...but giving all the foot slogging infantry transports, ignoring rapiers, would require 3 Spartans, 3 land raiders, and 7 rhinos and I'm not :cuss: doing that.

But getting back on topic, the progress. Finished off the tech Priests, Servo Automata, myrmidons, tech Marines, and armistos, leaving only the archmagos and the vehicles.

and I got a start on said Archmagos

My local used model store got a Commissar Yarrick model in the other day, which I took as a clear message from Mork (or possible Gork) that I've been spending too much time painting T'au gitz. Not being one to ignore signals from the Great Green I picked him up and will add him to my May pledge.

Yarrick is done. Little guy needed a tactical outcropping. Now I have to get back to the second Ghostkeel

Turns out I'm short a base for my Knights so this is as done as I can get it right now. I had tried to make a scenic base with a wrecked Rhino on it (from a failed print I chopped up) years ago but it turned out really badly and not a stable base for a Knight, and I forgot to ever replace that base.

I, gaurdian31, embark on the 12 Months of Hobby Challenge, and for the month of April pledge to paint 1 Chaos Cultist Firebrand:

I'm using the flamer cultist from Dark Vengeance as the firebrand since he can't be a member of a normal cultist squad anymore. Also I completed my Nemesis Claw from my plodding along vow:

Another weekly update: I finished off the archmagos, which leaves only the tanks of the vow. I finished the second Krios today, and I just got some new drybrushes which should hopefully speed up the preshading phase on the other 3 vehicles.

Considering we've got a week left May, its gonna be a time crunch, but I think I can get through it all. And hey, if I don't get to the karacnos this month I can punt it to double count with the call to arms .

Popped the base off a chaos Valiant I badly converted so I got to actually base this:

Adding on to my pledge- one "Warpsmith" for my Fallen Crusade army. The Fisher-folk are getting done, but need this guy for games coming up. Note- I don't know if he will be based this month, as the base is shipping out and will hopefully get to me in time (why is the Warpsmith on a weird 60mm x 35mm oval!?).
