I'd assume fairly low, while an update to MkIV is like to come at some point, and the Herald is likely an indicator of how the update will look, if it was soon then they probably would have had it as part of the reveal show or a teaser of some kind.

Currently working on a Tutorial in upscaling the mkIV's to the same scale as the mklll's and mkVI's.

Just because I must hate myself. I am putting together a 28 man strike force from six different successor chapters to the Imperial fists. (And from the fists themselves) This shall give me all unit options for my Kill team with the option of swapping out operators for those from other chapters. 

 

Wish me luck brothers I haven't built or painted a model since the early 2000s (See previous comment about hating oneself)

A few have started early, but most (as far as I know) are waiting for March. I think it's pretty much up to you, though? No big deal if you want to get started now?

Good call - I'm in the same boat, painting other odds and sods in the meantime to tide me over until Battle Goat time in March .  Personally, I think a big part of the fun of these types of events is everyone painting and sharing their stuff at the same time, so that's definitely my preferred way of doing it.  That said, I also think its good that those people who want to be painting right away can still participate.

This year I'm (finally ) building all of the Necrons I got subscribing to Imperium magazine, so I thought I'd be able to take part in this because I most certainly will be building and painting Immortals, Deathmarks, a Cryptek and a couple of Plasmacytes (which is why there's a sprue of Skorpekh's pictured )! Thanks for running this!

This is a tricky one. I've got several kill teams that I've started, which would probably make all of them ineligible for the event, but those are the ones I probably ought to work on.

 

Ratlings are an option. I've got those on sprue. I've built and magnetised but not painted four ogryn/bullgryns. Warpcoven are also a thought as I have 30k Ahriman mostly painted, some partially built Rubricae and Tzaangors. I could build a legal team without including Ahriman in the vow, but finish painting him alongside the rest.

 

What to do?

I think there has to be a level of flexibility with this. While in the spirit of fairness it's good if everyone is starting from more or less the same place, on the other hand it's all supposed to just be a bit of fun and a way to get some cool kill teams painted up!

 

So, if you've got a team that you've already started and that you feel inspired to keep working on, I don't think anyone will object if you want to stick with them? As long as they aren't already nearly finished, it's all good? Or if they are nearly done, you could maybe include them as an 'out of competition' entry or something?

When the Challenge is complete, I'll start a thread where everyone can add a post with their completed entries (with finished pics and whatever fluff they have created). I'll probably add a poll to the top of that thread, so people can vote for their favourites.

 

In the meantime, you can add WIP stuff wherever you think is appropriate - minis could be in the WIP forum, fluff maybe in the subforum of your chosen Faction (or in the Liber if it is DIY?) or could be in the Fanfic forum if your fluff takes the form of a story?

 

Alternatively, you could start your own individual thread here in the KT forum, where you can post all aspects regarding your KT, whether that's WIP pics or background fluff or whatever? (That is what I've done/will do for my Marines Adamant team)

Getting close to a decision here. I’ve kitbashed a third sorcerer to join Ahriman and the guy from the rubrics set. Used the legs from the dark vengeance librarian, which I still had on sprue somehow. 
 

 

For the vow I guess I’d do something like five marines and a couple of Tzaangors, though I’m probably going to paint more stuff than that. I have five rubrics, excluding sorcerors, and five Tzaangors. That’s enough to build a good roster with all the options I’m likely to need. 

 

Unfortunately the rubrics bits I picked up didn’t include a soul reaper cannon, so I’ll have to kit bash one. That’s ok as I find the official sculpt pretty uninspiring. It’s puny next to the legionaries’ Gatling gun. I’ll see if I can kitbash something suitably outrageous. 
 

The fluff would be that this is pretty much straight after Ahriman did his rubric, so he’s down on his luck a bit. I’ll try to flesh it out a bit from there. They’ll be red, unless I learn that the rubric instantly changed their colour.
