I suppose in KT, the teams that are even more big/tough/elite than Marines are maybe the Heavy Intercessors (5 minis?) or maybe Custodes (which I think you'd get 4 in a team?), although neither of those teams are for KT24 so I'm not 100% sure how they'd measure up now...

 

Anyway, I agree that Thallax would probably be somewhere around 4 or 5? I'd say for a team maybe something like:

 

1 Leader:

Tech-Priest or Enginseer

 

and 4 Operatives:

0-1 Thallax with a choice of special weapons

0-1 Thallax kitted for CC

2-4 regular Thallax

 

Possibly a 5-man team might be a bit too strong, perhaps a 4-man might be better for balance? But we don't need to get too technical/rules heavy here. I'm happy to say the above would be a reasonable entry for the painting competition?

Nah, the 3 month limit is for the painting Challenge itself. If you want to post your background and give us a preview of what your team is like, go for it! 

 

(Though I'd suggest starting a new thread for it, so we can keep this one just for sign ups and answering questions?)

That sounds very sensible. Given that this challenge is someone else's baby, I don't want to step on anyone's toes by starting it.

I, Rusted Boltgun, vow to complete one Kill Team of the Vespid Stingwings to be fully painted and based by the 8th April 2025, and to provide at least minimal fluff/background for them. May the Kroot Hounds lurking the corner devour me should I fail.

Just for clarity, as I'm not sure if my meaning came across correctly, I wasn't thinking 1 thread where everyone can post/work on their background. I was thinking each person could (if they wished) start their own thread for their team where they can cover all the aspects; WIP pics of build/paint, background, etc, etc. That seems like the simplest way to organise everything?

• The WIP forum is a great place.
• And the appropriate (sub-)faction (sub-)forum would be a great place.

And you can do any combination of those, if you want, especially if you use your blog and then want to post in one or more of the (sub-)forums.

I'll keep most of it here but when I get around to modelling I might put it in the WIP forum as well, to get more commentary.

 

Speaking of commentary I've put down my lore for my guys. This may evolve, particularly as they are being made. I'd love to hear peoples opinions on it.

I  just finished Elemental Council, and my urge to build some Gue'vesa has been reignited. I just ordered the parts for everything, so my WIP will come along once I get them kitbashed.

 

I'm not sure which team I'll actually run them as. I'm just looking to build up from my Kroot army.  I don't want to go pathfinders: probably vet guard or scions from last edition.

I have a legionaires kill team on the go, but as I have some of the base colours down on most of the models I figured they were too far along for this.

It would be cool at some point if we could all meet up and have a weekend event with our kill teams. I think we all live thousands of miles apart. I'd mention warhammer world but my models are going to have 3rd party bits so would be banned.

Rather than clutter up this thread with all my WIP pics, here's the link to my Ebon Word thread/post with my two kill-teams. Got the last model in so everybody is put together and I'm working on their full fluff/descriptors (which will be like the others in my thread, so "poetic"). I'll be waiting on painting them until most likely the beginning of March or April, as I have some stuff to finish this month and a Knight/couple of Armigers to do in Feb. Looking forward to seeing everyone's entries!

I've bulked up the WHH models with the missing two models to give me the full roster. I've also bitz purchased some additional WHH models bases so that the additional models bases will match the rest of the team.

Once those arrive I'll Zenithal prime and officially start my Vow.

 

Time dependant, I may do an additional KT using the KT: Overwatch KT Cassius models.

I'll be using the Legionaries kill team (boo!) to represent my (very!) loyal Fire Claws Chapter Adeptus Astartes - I'm submitting a team at the height of the Chapter's ... unorthodox ... practices, prior to being confronted by the Inquisition and four full (but weak) Chapters of the Adeptus Astartes.

 

I guess that means I'm in the Chaos camp and not the Loyal Astartes camp.

 

More details will be in my blog under the Fire Claws category (I'm still collecting miniatures/bits).

I think there is some flexibility for you to choose in this regard. For example, @sitnam has vowed a Vet Guard team, but it is being painted as Tau Gue'vesa so I've put it down for the Xenos Alliance.

 

I've seen quite a few examples of Legionaries painted as loyal Chapters... but I suppose whether the Fire Claws/Relictors belong in the loyalist or heretic category is very much a matter of opinion...

Fair point, I should have checked which Alliance you wanted to vow them for! I'll swap them over to Loyal Astartes

I ordered Betrayal At Calth Mark 4 marines. Theres a new mark 4 standard bearer which means we will likely get new marks 4s. The standard bearer looks great. What are the odds there'll be new Mark 4s available in time for this?
