Seraphim vs Zephyrim

My first 1000 points of my Adepta Sororitas army is coming along nicely. But then something occurred to me.

 

So I've got the old(!) Combat Patrol and the Army of Faith box. The first one includes 5 Seraphim, the latter 10 Seraphim and 5 Zephyrim. What if I took 5 of those Seraphim and painted them up like Zephyrim? Is that a good idea for a 1000-point army? Has anyone else done that?

 

Instead of 15 S and 5 Z, I'd end up with 10 each. The Seraphim would be joined by a Jump Pack Canoness, the Zephyrim probably by Celestine.

It would not hurt but I would run 10 seraphim and 2 5 zephyrim squads

I don't like either

 

I used to have two units always, with a mix of melta pistols, even in units of 5, a few bolt pistol shots could do something (back in the day)

 

Now, a few s4 shots is like being tickled by a feather, and melta pistols are not what they used to be

 

I found zeph useful when they came out, now with the T hikes. They have slid off the scale for me. Useful for what exactly.  

 

Killing guardians maybe

I didn't know the Army of Faith box was a 10/5 split- I thought it contained 3 dual build units.

 

If there are only parts for 5 Zephyrim in the box, and there are NO parts for Zephyrim in the Combat Patrol, what parts are you using to build the extra 5 Zephyrim, because a paint job won't make them melee units.

 

If I've interpreted correctly, this makes me glad I didn't buy the box- like you, I wanted 10 and 10, but I would have fielded them as 5/5 and 5/5.

 

Bot if the box doesn't make that possible without conversion/ tinkering, suddenly it's not as good a deal.

Yes. That's why I'm faced with a choice. I'll build at least 10 Seraphim, and I'm wondering how many Zephyrim I should build, 5 or 10.

Since I ended up with 8 boxes of this kit.  I made 15 zepharim.  Then the rest serphaim with all the loadouts.  A I couldnt make up my mind on what to make.

I'd say build 10 Zephyrim and 5 Seraphim.

 

You've already got the 5 Seraphim from the old Combat Patrol, so build the 5 Seraphim from the Army of Faith box as the other 5 for a full strength unit (I.e. build the Seraphim Superior as a normal Seraphim), then for the 10 remaining build 5 Zephyrim with a Zephyrim Superior and 5 as regular Zephyrim so you can field a 10-model unit of each.

Urm… how do you “end up with” 8 boxes of a £150 kit?

I would order one from my local store.  Pick it up, then I'd stick it on a shelf with my other stuff of shame.  I then would forget that I had them haha.  I was planning on getting 4 boxes in total.  Then when I was trying to figure out what I wanted next.  I was like umm why is there 8 boxes of these.  I thought I had more battle sister boxes.
