Maybe the standard design is a direct response to all the conversions out there using the Custodes standard.

Nothing wrong with the model but it doesn't wow me as much as the rest of the recent reveals have.

At the end of the day I am just happy to see anything Heresy though.

Looks like a good base for a custom character. But like other recent releases since the AoD praetors, it feels like a kitbash of bits from other minis instead of actually fully designed for its purpose.

Besides the standard being too small and bland, I wonder about that SoH/EC/WS helmet and the half moon icon in his shoulder pad that also appears in the Loyalist Overseer. It looks like the one used by HH White Scars, but that doesn't make sense...

Overall I quite like it, I'm not 100% on the sash thing he's got going as that won't fit well in my Terran Ultras but could in either my allied BA or TS. I'll also echo the comments about the standard, seems a little small for a herald but a swap for the command squad kit's banner would go far.

Banner would look a bit better without the cloth.

Someone else mentioned that the custodes version is well liked and often used, so the proof of concept is there. Maloghurst also has a big honking icon for his legion standard and it works well.

It doesn't look like it provides fearless to the unit and LD 10 in a bubble; it looks marginally less inspiring, like it'd only give out LD 9 and no fearless. It looks extraordinarily similar to the command squad banner from the upgrade set and dark emissary staff that do these things.

There's been some really great single models released during 2nds wave, but there's also been some real duds to contrast (not that 1st was all bangers all the time). The loyalist champion, siege breaker and loyalist overseer are all very off.

It's an OK model but think they could have done more with it.

I really don't like the bionic leg. The pistons and cable going across the front just seem too chunky. It initially made me think this was a plastic model, but it says in the article it's resin. You can get much finer detail with resin, so I don't get why they made it look so thick.

As others have said, I feel the standard is too small. It says in the article that "Each Legion Standard represents the very soul of the Legion". There doesn't seem much soul there to me, lol. There is so little room to add a decent size legion decal or do some nice freehand. The older forgeworld standards were much better as you could get really creative with them.

To me it reminds that iron hand from killteam box with genestealer cults.

And on consul side, i feel like they made loyalist version abit too... generic, it seems to take abit from every legion and it just feels more botched. Less is more, sometimes.

He looks neat. I probably won't buy one though.

My two biggest quibles would be, 1, I am just not a fan of the banner, and 2, the top knot is kinda what SoH are known for. Weird to see it on a loyalist, outside of like WS.

I’ll definitely get one. The power fist and bionics sold me.

That also sold the model for me. Gonna snip that Banner though. To short and the towel looks ridiculous.

But bottom line is that I really like the dude.

Honestly, with the big generic plastic banner I can see why they refrained from just doing the same in resin.

Also, get this one, a command squad (since they have two banners) trade as you want and use the resin banner as a vexilla for a veteran squad.

I really like this model. The only thing that irks me slightly is the placement of the holster on the side with the power fist. How on earth is he supposed to draw his gun? :P

Very, very gently lol.

Just imagine he's being stereotypically British with a tea cup but instead, it's a pistol... Best I've got.

I guess in a way the small banner could make sense for my Raven Guard, as a stealth banner. The big gold bit on top wouldn’t be so helpful though.

I can’t imagine I’d buy this guy myself. He’s just a bit too generic, where I feel like a Herald ought to be one of the models that looks most specific to their Legion. Obviously there isn’t a lot they can do about that for a generic model like this.

Thiniing about it, it would be great if they made Legion-specific resin upgrades as well as hats and shoulder pads. Have some banner bits, maybe to add onto the command squad, some legion weapons and so on.

And some staff paint jobs, which might suggest he isn't far away:

Traitor version next week, probably:

Jesus Christ! He has a bionic leg and they can´t think of giving him an Iron Hands paint job.
