Xenith
I picked up the Mechanicum battlegroup box, and now have nabbed the Heavy Support box, so it woudl appear that I am now a devout servant of the machine god, and am looking for inspiration on how to paint my metal men. I have in my mind that I want to have orange armour, but this might be tricky with the difficulty of orange paint, so am looking for other ideas and inspiration, as well as allowing our Cyborg loving frater to show off their models. I didn't find a similar post, so this is the space to share and show off your painted Mechanicum! I'm particularly interested in seeing models from any custom forge worlds/factions etc - so have at! I'll start with sharing some: Vincent Knotley Paints has got some cool brightly coloured Thallax - I didn t know about these until I searched, but that orange one looks good! Spoiler Iron Warriors-y also looks cool: Spoiler Alpha Legion colours: Spoiler Edited Monday at 09:04 AM by Xenith Xin Ceithan 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385380-share-your-mechanicum-schemes/ Share on other sites
Pearson73
I think orange would give a real industrial vibe which is very fitting for Mechanicum! I've gone for yellow, with one black shoulder pad to denote allegiance to my Iron Hands legion force: Xin Ceithan, Xenith, LameBeard and 1 other 1 2 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385380-share-your-mechanicum-schemes/#findComment-6096586 Share on other sites
No Foes Remain
I had some Castallax planned as part of my SoH which I think I'm going to do in dark grey/black with lupercal green secondary, so basically reverse SoH colours. For the Mech force that's going to be working alongside my SoH I had the idea of using some of the old school Destiny 1 Titan armours as a base, something like: or I think the first will work well with SoH but I'm leaning towards the second as it would be a good contrast but I'm slightly worried it would stand out too much unless I muted the colours a little. Are you tempted to do any hazard sripes, like industrial gear? Pearson73
Thanks @Xenith, I had considered hazards, but already having a lot of yellow and a bit of black makes me wary of creating a bee-like effect... Corswain
I was determined to do some orange in an oily grimdark kinda scheme covered in streaking grime but just wasn't satisfied with the result. It looked good but I just wasn't excited to paint it and that's the goal for me. Then I showed my three year old an orange tester and a pink tester and he chose pink. He knows what he's doing - I really like the pink. I do think the orange can be done though and I really like that it's not a Legion colour so it has it's own identity. Pearson73
Really interesting point about having a colour unassociated with a legion @Corswain I think it definitely helps set a force apart, especially if it represents an independent forge. Trokair
Here are a few pictures from my army from many years ago. Haven’t painted any of the new plastic yet, and am debating on if I try to continue with this scheme or go for something else once the plastic lot are built and ready. 2018 ETL Vowes Spoiler 2019 L&T Stuff Spoiler LameBeard and Xin Ceithan 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385380-share-your-mechanicum-schemes/#findComment-6096936 Share on other sites
Xin Ceithan
I think it’s a shame that with the focus on the Martian Civil War, we didn’t get a lot of input of how pre-Heresy Mechanicus schemes ight have looked. I’d have liked to see at least a few of the minor forges mentioned in the Black Books getting some love, like Cyclorathe, Moab or Incaladion… A wasted opportunity to increase the general orangeness of the setting, I say! And while I mostly used this as base for my knight, I’m tempted to try blotchy orange again on my Explorator fleet… Spoiler … though I’m unsure I’ll able to repeat that effect on a smaller miniature Corswain and Pearson73 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385380-share-your-mechanicum-schemes/#findComment-6097306 Share on other sites
Magos Takatus
This is probably cheating but I painted this Triaros to match my 40k Adeptus Mechanicus army. I am painting up a Mechanicum box currently and it will be matching the Xana II scheme, more or less. The plastic one is so nice to work with in comparison, though it's made of so many more parts! I was going to do my inbound collection in the standard Mars red. That was until I watched the newest Cult of Paint video on YouTube. I'm now set on the Ryza scheme (orange) as per Henry's video. Well worth a watch if you're still considering orange....
