So with March approaching I want to share my WIP killteam for the Knives in the Shadows 2025 painting challenge.

I haven't played since 2004 so I'm in this hobby only for collecting and painting. I asked permission to @Lysimachus to create something more of a scenic diorama rather than a ready to play kt squad.

I like to have a theme, a schedule and to inspire and be inspired by other people works.

With his ok, I started to think what I wanted to do. First I was thinking about the marine Raptors chapter since they fit so well with the city fight theme of the challenge.

But then, searching through the chapters I (re)discover Wolfspear, a rare primaris founding from the Space Wolves.

I really liked the idea of space wolves more silent, with more hunting tactics if you want and the colour scheme was for me intriguing.

With some difficulties and some luck I found the 2 years old white dwarf when they spoke about them and the transfer sheet of the chapter that was with it.

I will speak about specifics in the next posts but basically it's an ambush by a Wolfspear killteam to a Necron detachment. The scene is in the center of a ruined Imperial city.

I will leave the story for last, for now as usually I do, I prefer to concentrate to painting while I'm thinking about the story.

So this is the team. The pack leader is the one in the middle with the spear.

The team is legal, killteam game rules speaking, and I tried to pose them as if they are about to strike. When you will see the rest of the project it will be more clear.

I used many pieces from different kits and some 3d printed ones to assemble the squad.

I also choose not to exagerate with SW blings as I see Wolfspear more tactical and "clean".

He's stunning - I actually don't think he needs any griming up - with the battle damage he has, he's a great middle step between realistic and classic 40K.  Kind of reminds me of the art style from the Borderlands games, actually.

Thank you!

Yeah, I am going for something more grim and dirty and maybe the light (I suck at photography) was too bright here. Anyway I finished the model and this is the result:

This will be the style for all the killteam. They are in an ambush operation in a city destroyed by war and I want them to blend with the enviroment. I dim the light in these photos.

Coming to finish the Killteam.

Next I will do the rest the of the diorama.

Here's another three Wolfspears:

Next will be the pack-leader of the team.

Vow completed!

"Under the ever-lasting shadow of the Massif Ballistus the pack watches the Necrons passing by, ready to strike.
Amidst the ruins in one of the district of Cascabael, the Wolfspear killteam can even smell the xenos in all their metallic foulness.
Skygg is looking closely through the scope of his sniper rifle at the commando of the Necron squad, and for a split-second he thinks the xenos is looking at him.
There is no time, soon the trap will spring.
Rïlinos slowly pulls out his blade, the impetuous Firkägr is ready to unleash his unsuppressed stalker bolter rifle. He is the only one who prefers to use it like that, so he will probably be the last one to fire it.
Meanwhile Burfasir is throwing a grenade in the middle of the enemy squad. There is no trace of Likæt, he is surely hidden somewhere in the ruins of the hab block, stalking the enemies from the darkness.
The signal is the pack leader,  Æõvigamaõur, leaping from the third collapsed floor of the building plunging directly into the Canoptek Doomstalker beneath him. In his hand the power spear gifted to him by Ragnar Blackmane of the Space Wolves, when the two chapters bonded years ago.
The fight was over as soon as it started.
The xenos annihalated. The Dreamer of Portents was right.
The Necrons are here on Volkus, searching for something.
The grim wolves will find out what it is and they will kill them all."

It was fun and I think I will do some Wolfspear in the future too.
