As a heads up, the way the store guy told us to order scout moves was wrong - the correct way is to have players alternate doing their scout moves, starting with the player with first turn.  Its in the little booklet that comes with the mission cards - you can see here where @Tawnis helps me find that out.

Had a fun game yesterday with a nice young man with a beautiful in-progress Ultramarines army.  He had swapped the white and blue of the colour scheme (so predominantly white, with blue trim) and it was very fetching.  Forgot my camera, so no pictures, but hopefully I'll see him again and snap some then.

 

Both of us are still rather new and slow, so we only finished turn 3.  We were pretty even on points, but I really running out of units so he would have pulled ahead considerably had the game continued.  I feel I played better, but I have a ways to go as once again I basically failed to fully kill anything except a unit of bikes & attack bike.  Hillarious(ly frustrating) moment was my defiler charging Guilliman and wiffing on hits + good saves such that I did no wounds to him, with the only redemption being Big G failing to kill it in the crack back.  Also got a maulerfiend killed by bringing it in where I though his Lancer couldn't see it without exposing itself to my defiler... but was wrong.

 

Anyway, I think I need to work on how to screen and/or position better, as I ate a lot of charges - one thing in common with this last string of losses (though some were knights) is that I've gone first.  I also feel I kept too much in reserves, so I'm going to have to think about that too.  And being more aware of the possible lines of sight.

 

Still not sold on priority assets - I always seem to have to work a lot harder for my points than my opponents do.  That said, with my inability to fully kill anything, I wouldn't be doing well with purge either and I don't feel any of the other 3 work well with EC's unit selection (and mine in particular).

Finished my GW Lord Kakaphonist model:

 

 

I'm relatively happy with his point job even if the photos aren't the best - its a remarkably difficult model to photograph well.

 

Eventually his armour will get some highlighting, when I figure out how I want to do that - its a decision I keep kicking down the road.

 

Anyway, next on the block is my 3rd squad of infractors (a 5 man) - currently working out how do their capes.  Think I'll go teal (so, half way between the green and blue of the other 2 squads), but still working out the best process for doing.  I should have pictures of that in the next day or two.

 

As a bit of a milestone, I've now painted more than 1500 points of EC since the codex came out, which I can combine (roughly) the same amount of points of demons and of my "dual purpose" chaos stuff (largely vehicles), giving me a fair bit of flexibility in army creation.  Only thing that I'm feeling I'm really missing is a second defiler - which I have a build going on behind the scenes while I paint stuff for CtA.
