Nah I prefer this new version based on the OG Whirlwind. Each to their own though, it'd be a boring, boring world if we all prefered the same thing, and to be fair I do really like the older one you shared with us, just not as much as the new one. Speaking the second ed Whirlwinds, do people think that the new multiple tube launcher would look good mounted on a Diemos Rhino as a Whirlwind substitute in my 40k 2nd edition army project or is it horribly over/undersized?

The main body of the Tarantula with the optics is slightly smaller than a Razorback turret so I think this missile launcher is the right size for any Rhino.

It helps on the intercept, sure. But without any real guns you don't really need to intercept it;

It's not the Arvus which the enemy wants to destroy but what's in it. ;)

The SA player put their only BS4 guys the Command Section in it and give them all Melter guns or plasma guns.

As a side note I'd prefer that GW gives all flyers these Flare Launchers. It would help a ton to improve flyers.

Ya, but they can't be dropped anywhere useful the turn it comes on, so again, the intercept is a much a lower priority for this than a lot of things.

And it's kinda funny on the flare launcher thing. Back in 1st, flyers could just jink if they were targeted by anything, and they'd get a 4+ save. Much like interceptor it was a trade off to make, and much like going to ground, got butchered into a reaction for the current rules regime.

If the new edition rumours are true, I'll be very interested to see how the reaction system gets handled.

Reactions are now cards (RRP £19.99).  And it includes a special card that is a reaction to a reaction so by the time both are resolved no-one can remember what the original move/shoot/charge was and whose turn it was.

I recently visited my local GW store. The store manager said that one of his supervisors told him the next boxset for HH would indeed be another edition. Though the supervisor didn´t elaborate on that as he noticed any further comments from him would reveal too much.

I don´t expect a book for Militia and Daemons of the Ruinstorm in the next edition cycle as it seems those factions are purposefully being abandoned. It seems GW doesn´t care, if 3rd companies are filling this niche with their model ranges.

Deep Strike the Arvus next to an enemy unit you want to nuke and nuke them? That is useful in my book.

Sure ya, that definitely makes people want to intercept, especially as it comes in hovering and being hit in ballistic skill.

And all this has definitely gone passed the point that updated sheets haven't really fixed core issues with units, and it might not even matter if there's just new rules coming out soon enough (which should hopefully fix core issues).

I absolutely agree but nonetheless it is Balls to the walls o'clock when it comes to playing SA. Take one Command Section plus two Companion Secions in one tercio and all of them in Arvus, play Ride of the Valkyres on full blast while putting them on the table and hope for the best.

That is the way.

Go out with a bang and have some fun. Until GW fixes it we as players have only this option. Playing one NPC faction is playing the game on hard mode.

I love the old 2nd ed inspired version too. I stll have one or two I need to bash together somewhere, I think!
And yes, I bet crayon launcher 2.0 would look great on a Deimos!
