greatcrusade08
Running through some assembly and basing, painting ongoing. I obtained a large number of primaris marines, i think its enough to build a reasonably powered force, with enough characters for angelic inheritors. Be interested to see what forces people would build from the following list? Bladeguard ancient Bladeguard captain bladeguard lt (i think) Judiciar Terminator captain Terminator librarian Apothecary biologis Lt in phobos armour 6 x bladeguard 3 x eradicator 5 x sternguard 5 x terminators 5 x terminators 10 x infernus 10 x scouts 10 x reivers 10 x assault marines 3 x eliminators with las fusil Invictus warsuit ATV Redemptor dread Ballistus dread Repulsor executioner Firestorm turret Hammerfall bunker imperial bastion I was thinking you could get a decent 1st co list from this? I realise the ATV doesnt come with base, but i wanted it to match, does this matter? greatcrusade08
Played my first game against a very beautifully painted nurgle army Didnt take any pictures, but was a closer game than i expected. Going first wasnt great as his GUO had the no shooting outside 18" aura and 4+ inv is very swingy, my opponent rolled really well on his saves all game and just wasnt able to shift him from objectives. i ran angelic inheritors which was great with bladeguard as i could permanantly switch on the shields as getting rerolls to 1s with judiciar attached anyway. Thye were tanky and used them to hold centre objective, but i was out OC'd by the daemons. jump intercessors are surprisingly good and 5 man units are cheap enough to exchange, hold up the enemy for a turn, then he infernus marines burn them. Heavy support options were very good, but GUO were tanking thier inv saves, managed to kill one and reduce the others to single digit wounds though. Had a string of poor rolls T3 which lost me the game, but could have gone either way til then. definately feeling angelic inheritors though, great strats and rerolls are always welcome. Ill be trying them out a bit more. Captains getting free CP per turn works well as using "strike now or glory" on sternguard to get sustained hits and dev wounds with reroll 1s to hit and 1s to wound (all wounds if oath of moment target) My list: captain with 5 sternguard termy captain with 5 terminators termy librarian with 5 terminators 6 BGV with judiciar 2 x 5 assault intercessor with JP 2 x 5 infernus marines 2 x 5 scouts 5 reivers ATV 2 x ballistus gladiator lancer Q: can i attach a bladeguard ancient and a judiciar to the same BGV unit? would help with OC Jolemai 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385696-bat-eaters-blog-models-painting-and-games-reviews/#findComment-6108040 Share on other sites
Jolemai
No it can't. You can only double up if there's a Captain/Chapter Master/Lieutenant there. greatcrusade08 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385696-bat-eaters-blog-models-painting-and-games-reviews/#findComment-6108239 Share on other sites

Shame, never mind, the strikes first is too good not to take just for the ancient, maybe if they changed that more people would use it? greatcrusade08
I had my first tournament with blood angels yesterday, 3 games at 1k, bit of a strange points value. I went with the following list: Angelic inheritors: Sanguinor Captain with storm shield/sword (with sternguard) Chaplain (with BGV) 2 x 5 assault intercessor 6 bladeguard 3 eradicator 5 scouts 5 sternguard Ballistus dreadnought. Game one vs imperial fists first company detachment (Search and destroy, burden of trust, swift action). Opponent had two units of terminators, one led by captain, other with librarian, 10 sternguard and 5 sternguard, 5 assault intercessors and an allied unit ive not seen before, but man they had a shed load of flame weapons (8 i think). My opponent didnt really know how to handle my ballistus and he took some early wounds, i sent a unit of assault intercessors into each corner to try and take control of each objective, whilst scouts and BGV wrestled with the centre objective. BGV tanked a lot of damage and took out the allied unit and 5 sternguard to control middle objective. His ten sterngaurd wiped out my assault unit on the right and i opted to leave it alone, instead controlling the left flank and centre. His terminators ands captain came down to take on dreadnought, but failed the charge (with rr), the other terminators appeared close to my sternguard. However with so much in reserve, i already had full battlefield control, inc up and down on scouts to take his home objective. A last ditch attempt in T3 to take the centre from the BGV resulted in sanguinor appearing and levelling the terminator squad and blunting his attack. 47-33 win to me. Only played 3 turns before running out of time, 1.5 hours per game was tight as there's still alot of paperwork involved Game two vs dark angels librarian conclave (dawn of war, scorched earth, raise banners). Opponent had a large unit of sternguard with librarian, 6 bladeguard and ezekial? in repulsor, azrael and a large unit of badass looking sword dudes and a unit of scouts. I made my opponent drop first with less units i was able to outdeploy fairly easily (dropped scouts and 2 x 5 assault intercessors down in cover and the decided what to do. I gave up the right flank, leaving azrael and sword chaps out of the game and focussed on the other side. My opponent went first and killed my ballistus in one volley from the sternguard, ouch. But failed a 7 charge on my scouts with BGV who dismounted. i focussed everything on the BGV, charging with my own to wipe them out. In turn two my BGV were reduced to two but i was able to then focus on the sternguard and take full control of the board. My opponent had an early VP lead burning central objective, i went into T3 20pts behind and running out of time. Sanguinor swooped down and burned opponents homefield objective, i scored two others and held the centre of the board to take 22 pts in T3 winning the game 36-34. Azraels unit didnt even get to take part. Game three vs astra militarum (crucible of battle, take and hold, adapt or die). Opponent had a tank formation, leman russ with autocannons, rogal dorn commander, two chimers with kasrkin inside, and two sentinels. Heres the bad part, we had the most open board ive ever seen, i had almost no cover, so deployed as close as i could hoping to take first turn and run into cover in the mid table. Not to be. Opponent took first turn and pretty much destroyed BGV and eradicators, it was downhill from there, pretty much wiped out T3 losing 68-24. Bad dice (oponent rolling hot) and no cover really ruined that game, was a bitter pill on top table at the end of the day, STC terrain would have really helped me, but alas small indy events dont always have that. 2 wins and a loss, not bad considering I've only had one practice game with them. Sternguard are great and 40pts more expensive per ten that basic intercessors is worth it for the dev wounds, and stackability of sustained hits and rerolls makes this even better, im going to take ten myself at 2k with the captain. Im really digging angelic inheritors, i roll alot of ones, and had several noteable combats where a chaplain rolled 3 or 4 ones only to reroll into 100% hits. edit: I also think judiciar is better than chaplain with the BGV, as i was running them on foot and more likely to take a charge, striking first can blunt an attack. plus AI have a 1CP strat for lethal hits and lance if needed.
