The fact that Saturnine are in squads of 3 has utterly put me off.
I can’t stand 3 man squads in 40K/HH and I hate that GW seems to be doing it more and more often.
I miss the days when everything was in multiples of 5/10.

To each their own, I absolutely love it, especially for larger models. Wish it was the case for stuff like veterans etc too, but then again I love small battle sizes and focusing on fewer models both gaming and painting/modelling wise.

Never been a fan of the Saturnine Terminator aesthetic, but I actually love it on the dread. I'll definitely try to get that separately online.

Planetfall countdown ends on Thursday 29th if I'm not mistaken?

If it's q stealth release date I'd be amazed, however it also doesn't line up with the preview event.

Unless the event has the CGI and "more coming soon" which the box shown off the following Thursday?

It was always going to be tough to make Saturnine armour look visually appealing given the proportions.

I think the only time I’ve ever seen them look good was in the Death of Hope video from a few years back.

Seems a odd thing to feel so strongly about, why don't you like it?

I can't speak for @TheWarmaster on this, but as someone who feels similarly at least WRT 40k, I don't like how messy it makes trying to assign each squad to a squad number in the companies of my homebrew chapter.  10 squads of 10, or 20 squads of 5, or a mix of the two is all nice and neat. Squads of 3/6 however just muddles the whole thing and messes with my totals.

I recognise that this is an incredibly minor and niche complaint that probably says more about how many chromosomes that I have than anything else, but it definitely bugs me, I went to the trouble of making a spreadsheet to keep track of each squad in my chapter, and coming up with a colour coding system to make it very clear from the back banner which company and squad I was looking at at a glance, and then GW messes it up by changing the Maths.

Ironically since I've done far less work fleshing out my 30k forces lore so far, I have much less of a problem with the idea in HH than in 40k.

Event is cancelled it seems.

Those 2 to 4 extra goobers are stuck with ATV/Attack Bike and Invictor duty until they can behave. If the rumour of a new Land Speeder are correct you also have another avenue of "two marines outside of their squad".

From  Terra Vult. Contents of the box:image.jpeg.8c08d460116a39bdfae1313cf54c4878.jpeg

Doesn't entirely match up with the box content smudges. The MkII leader is a centurion, while the MkII Legionaries are listed in a block of 40 and the supposed heavy weapons are listed as "two sets of disintegration weapons*"

The turret I struggle with, most I can make out is "One smudge Quad smudge Platform. maybe Arachnid or some other spider pun to reference the tarantula.

MK II pics aren't clear enough for me to say anything, but Saturnines... (I guess it's a small retcon  that they are Vulkan's prototypes). They looked bad in the art and are abysmal in plastic - if you squint your eyes they are returning from shopping with a pair of bags. There's no saving of them for me. I may be interested in the deadnought, IF those horrible pouldrons can be removed and it looks decent underneath, but to be honest it feels more like a new Leviathan pattern than completely new chassis.

Quad Accelerator Platform - the Sicaran autocanons

Guilty pleasure most likely but I do actually like what I'm seeing here, especially that Dread.

Of course, I'm betting that the warcom article was on auto upload and it was pure coincidence that this leaked when it did. Question is why the preview was cancelled (that seems to have happened before the leak?).

I'm on the fence with believing that GW will bring forward the reveal. How long did we have pics of the 2nd edition box for before they said anything?

The first leaks of the box contents were in july 2021, trailer reveal at march 2022, with a better look at the box contents leaked at april 2022, and final reveal may 2022.

I like the mk2s and dread but I’m not too impressed with the saturnines and I don’t care about the turret. I actually wonder if the terminators are push fit, as that was one of the hearsay rumours. They kind of look like they could be.

Looking at the contents, it mentions tactical status markers. Wonder what that means. Just things like pinned or broken, or maybe other stuff?

Love this. I don’t play heresy but have some mk3 marines I was hoping to make into a 40K ‘untainted’ iron warriors force. This will be perfect for havocs / marines / chosen and the saturnine guys a great daemon prince / obliterator proxy. Hopefully legends choices for the platform / big dread.

Thanks, I knew it was a crazy amount of time but wasn't sure how long it actually was. Though 10 months from leak to actual reveal, there's rumour engines that sometimes takes longer than that

There should be a new rule: if you accidentally end up with a new GW box set in your garage, you should at least take some decent photos of it so we can all read the text on the back and see the whole thing...

Anyway, by 2cents...

The Good:

  • MK II in plastic! I'm sure they'll be a bit marmite, as the OG resin sculpts are iconic and much loved. But I'm happy to see them.
  • The Saturnine Dreadnought sort of works for me? Not sure what niche it fills that isn't already accounted for by a  Leviathan, though.
  • Templates! So we can put the full-blown doom-mongering about Heresy being ported over to 10th edition to bed (for now).

The Bad:

  • The Saturnine Praetor, though, is not good. Continuing a trend of stock plastic characters being overblown.
  • The cancellation of the Dallas preview event does not bode well, in my opinion. I know there is now a countdown on Warhammer Community, so maybe we will get a Heresy bespoke online preview now, but generally, anything that makes GW mess with their schedule means delays for us all.

The Other

  • Saturnine Terminators, I'm unsure. My initial reaction is that they were always a weird aesthetic, very much a 2nd edition design that is hard to update. That being said, they haven't been badly executed here, and I'd like to see them painted in a more traditional Heresy style with a lot of weathering before I decide if I like them.
  • See also the gun platform, which you can't see much of...
  • The 'MKII Veteran' is potentially interesting? Especially as the model they have used has the Disintegrator? Or I am just reading too much into it...
  • Obviously, nothing here answers the question as to how much of a change the rules will be. Which is the burning question for most people.

Like...a year? But that was in part due to the box being finished long before the rules, IIRC

The dread does kind of give "3rd party Leviathan proxy" vibes. Reminds me a little of the Makers Cult Tempest Legion stuff. Actually....might make for a decent addition to the Thunder Warriors project that's mothballed in my garage.

Chap on the Heresy Discord that leaked the box contents has just flagged that the Legion "Arcane Journals" seem likely given what he's been told, containing;

  • Exemplary Battles Units
  • Legion-specific Units
  • Army List Variants (Rites of Wario, Army List Mutations, etc)
  • Legion-specific Wargear
  • Legion-specific Consuls
  • Named Characters / HQs

I must admit as soon as i saw the leaks I thought 'Ohhh Valrak's comment about the box leaking will not have aged well'

So pretty much the old world approach then. Would it be safe to assume that the non-SM factions would get one? (Wondering out loud here)
