Okay, so literally dispel any idea of GW putting it on FB. It makes no sense. It didn't happen. You have no reason to think it did. It cannot be used an argument to cast doubt on the validity of the leak.

I am not saying it is detrimental for them to poke fun of it on their website. The whole website is doing tongue in cheek style humor. It's very British. Doesn't really matter. What it is doing is driving engagement now that the image is out in the wild anyway. No, I am saying the fact they take the images (or as Indywisp pointed out, their own images made to look like leaked images, but not in fact those, due to legal reasons) is giving absolute validity to the leak. Because most people will now (ok, should now) understand that it is real. It would in fact be extremely counterproductive for them to packpedal now and say "nah, the images were all fake". People expect them to be real, the fact that they've taken them to their site and interacted with them, have validated them. Now not releasing this box would create backlash. <-- this was my original argument

The fact that Indywisp clarified that UK law actually means they could not have posted the images, without actually photographing their own box, straight out proves it.

Right, so the box was put on FB market place. That did happen. It was taken down. It just wasn't or would not have been GW who did this. Which is what did not make sense to me.

Okay hold onto your butts for this one, so on my stream tonight one of the users found the listing of this boxset on Facebook Market place (the listing has now disappeared), he contacted the seller who provided more images (see below)

Now the mad thing is, this isn't the only Warhammer box he had, he has the new drop pod box as well (see below), it's in my opinion that this is defiantly stolen goods since the user who found the listing has now reported the account has been deleted, I think he got nervous and nuked his social media, I've advised him to stay away in case it is stolen and he could end up with a charge.

I'm starting to feel like I'm living in the twilight zone.

I don’t think it’s because they love 2.0, rather it’s that people don’t want a new edition of rules after only three years, and 2.0 is what is readily available right now. If you could still readily pick up Black Books for less than several hundred dollars, then people would be saying “forget this, let’s just stick with 1.0”.

Of course, if that was true, many people (myself included) would have never bought any 2.0 books. As it stands now, if 3.0 ends up being a significant change from 2.0, I am going to buy some $300-400 Black Books. Why not? It would cost me close to $200 just for the core rulebook and the 2x Marine Libers if they stick to 2.0 pricing, plus now there are rumors that there are going to be additional Arcane Journal style books, so there’s potentially several hundred more dollars. Plus I believe that today’s GW is neither willing nor able to put out something half as good as an Alan Bligh Black Book.

While I have all the black books sans #8 (which is a million dollars these days) you don't need those to play 1.0. You only need, and can easily get, the "Red books" (The core rulebook, marine army list, mechanicum army list, aux+custodes list, and the "Legions" red book; depending on which you need) cheap on eBay.

In recent weeks (the last 6 or so) I've helped four people from my group get the Core Red book, and their faction red books, for about $35 per red book. (Whether that will stay the same as people panic about 3.0, who's to say). So if you have only one faction, only about an $70-80USD investment.

And in tandem with that, there's REALLY good quality OCR'd PDF's you can find with small effort.

I'm very familiar with all this because our group of 10+ guys and gals all wholesale abandoned 2.0 by the time the "Custodes" book came out in it.

It's because GW expects people to pay for rules, which is absolutely ludicrous with the churn they do. Remember though, even 7th Ed. had its fans and defenders.

Ya I understand the churn is frustrating and not wanting to participate in it, %100. But if you're not sticking with the current edition, why stay with 2nd when 1st is right there? It has its own problems, sure, but units tend to function and allow for far more interaction with your opponent. There's even still interceptor, overwatch, and "evade" so people can have some of that participation in their opponents turn.

Seriously, do these people drag their greasy fingers over the lenses before they take a photo. Please put in at least some effort, random person getting their hands on pre-release crap.

I know the red books are what I actually need to play the game, the Black Books are more an object of unchecked desire to be honest, haha.  But I'm not optimistic about 3.0 at all and now you have me intrigued, about pulling the trigger on the red books I need.   I'm going to shoot you a message so I don't detract from the topic at hand in this post.

Have you not noticed that people praise mediocrity more and more these days? It’s not just this hobby, it’s everything.

I can make out that those are 6 sided dice. I was asking about the 18 sided die.

Are you real?

Anyway.

Saw a filtered pic of the new box on Reddit. Looks like full deck squads of the new Disintegrator weapons (and maybe more than 10 of each which is interesting).

Overall pretty stoked on the new box. Saturnine is a bit big for my liking but hey, its novel. More heavy and special weapons are always welcome - particularly as I've been eyeing up a HSS for my Dark Angels and heavy Disintegrators will do nicely. The new Dreadnought being nearly Knight-sized is also very sick.

I think the only thing I'm not that interested in is the big shooty gun platform, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't pretty impressed by the sheer size of the thing. It'll at least be a nice scenery piece

Please don't be rude. read the rest of the thread...

Yes I am and was for real.

I was never the biggest fan of this style of Terminator armor, and as was said earlier, I don’t like the over under sickle mag configuration - however, I actually think the styling works well as a full sized (or even oversized?) Dreadnought.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of Mk2 armor, always preferring the up-armored Mk3 on up, but this doesn’t look bad - just not quite as good as overlapping segments would have looked, and I would have thought they might have found a way around any technical limitations on production.

Boy do those Preators have a lot of bling…

And even as a joke, it would have been interesting to know what a d18 actually would have been for in a game.

I feel like I should explain a little.

I know the site for the new 30k is in and of itself a joke.

I know the little comments they left next to the pictures were a joke.

I did not know, that the pictures themselves were jokes.

for example the d18 dice. I thought was really a thing. or going to be a thing.

the green plastic - one of the new kill teams is going to use green plastic - the new hero packs - so I thought this possible. I did not know it was a sprue for something else already.

and then there was a pic of some kind of fake crux thing... while I knew it had nothing to do with a crux terminatos, I thought it was a pic of a new model or something.

likewise the foot of the new dread... I figured that was a pic of something new.

so I knew the blurbs they were saying were jokes, I know the site is generally a joke but I thought the pics were pics of real things to come or expect.

there has been a lot of rudeness because I didn't get the joke... unnecessary and disrespectful. But I get it now. this is why I avoid all April 1st things, I tend to believe them.

FWIW I really do think you chaps are overdoing the “GW wouldn’t use the same photo because copyright”. Yes, we don’t have the same “fair use” protections as the US,  but I can’t see a UK judge giving any more than a slap on the wrist for using a photo like this - for damages we do still have the principle that the claimant has to show the loss they suffered. Pretty difficult to run that argument if the goods were stolen or otherwise illegitimately obtained.

Not that I have any doubt this is real. And maybe GW had their own photos because this was the back-up plan all along - damage limitation on the leaks by rolling with it in a funny way.  It is an evolution of the video that ended with the fiend of Slaanesh reveal?

Edited by LameBeard

I mean, it's a half hour job for a professional photo team to grab the box, make some less than perfect photos and crop them similarly to the leaked pictures. Doesn't mean GW did the initial leaks, just that they recreated them (with VERY little effort).

Clearly, you and your opponent would have both rolled it to see which legion rules you were playing with that game  (roll a lost legion? Use black shields or shattered legion rules!)

That would require a D20, no?

Or Jetbikes and Speeders

To both of you: I’ve always been weirded out by those even back in 3rd but because that was always the case I just kind of accepted it.
It’s always mainly been an infantry thing that annoys me because it was very rarely ever that way for such a long time, and now it’s happening more and more.
I realise it’s a slightly strange gripe to have, but it’s just my brain doing its thing haha.

For fun: I also hate how these new sculpts are often easy to spot, duplicates of legs/bodies. You can really tell when a 10 man squad is made up of models with 2 sets of 5 legs etc. Especially when there are really dynamic poses and tactical rocks scattered about.
This is one of the reasons I struggle to like anything about Bloodbowl especially. Those are literally just duplicate monopose models. It’s also why I think Warcry is awesome because each one of those models in a warband is completely unique.

Anyway, I’ve digressed enough haha.

Aye, I goofed mixed up the fact there was only 18 surviving legions with there being only ever 18 (including the 2 lost ones).

Oh well.

Random thought about the new Saturnine models..

Didn’t the old artwork show them as having a back mounted cannon between their shoulder pads??

it did indeed, lots of artwork showed them carrying heavy weapons and shoulder mounted weapons
