Random thought about the new Saturnine models..

Didn’t the old artwork show them as having a back mounted cannon between their shoulder pads??

Technically I think those were specifically the ten prototype models that Vulcan made?

it did indeed, lots of artwork showed them carrying heavy weapons and shoulder mounted weapons

Often but not universally. The original Rogue Trader model did not have the extra gun between the shoulders.

Oh really? Are they mentioned anywhere? I’ve not heard of those.

Aye, I remember the old model didn’t have one. I just remember seeing a few pieces of artwork with it, but then I have no idea if those were actually official works or fan made..

I feel like I should explain a little.

I know the site for the new 30k is in and of itself a joke.

I know the little comments they left next to the pictures were a joke.

I did not know, that the pictures themselves were jokes.

for example the d18 dice. I thought was really a thing. or going to be a thing.

the green plastic - one of the new kill teams is going to use green plastic - the new hero packs - so I thought this possible. I did not know it was a sprue for something else already.

and then there was a pic of some kind of fake crux thing... while I knew it had nothing to do with a crux terminatos, I thought it was a pic of a new model or something.

likewise the foot of the new dread... I figured that was a pic of something new.

so I knew the blurbs they were saying were jokes, I know the site is generally a joke but I thought the pics were pics of real things to come or expect.

there has been a lot of rudeness because I didn't get the joke... unnecessary and disrespectful. But I get it now. this is why I avoid all April 1st things, I tend to believe them.

For what it's worth, I thought you were pretty graceful about it. We all get stuff wrong from time to time - maybe you could have cottoned on sooner, but it's no big deal and you weren't rude about it or anything.
I think it behooves us all to try and be nice and patient when someone gets it wrong, if for no other reason than it'll be you being wrong and getting laughed at some day.

As for the actual box, I think I actually like all the models (as difficult as it is to say at this point), although I will definitely convert some of them to bring them more in line with my idea of 30k. I just wish I'd gotten at least one game of 2nd in before the new edition  /
Seriously though, I know I'm not the quickest painter/player, but I really don't like the idea of Heresy getting on the 3-year cycle too and I really, really hope 3rd is the "final" edition or close to it. Failing that, I hope the army and campaign books stay usable for 3rd, because it absolutely sucks to "have" to buy that amount of paper every few years.
I know, I know - hope; disappointment etc., but still...

Now on the Hearsay website too, with accompanying text:

Metal Bawkses

Check this out! Battle damaged tank sprue? Looks like a new Rhino to us. Or maybe a predator or whirlwind or Vindicator? One thing we’re pretty sure on is this is definitely not a Razorback.

Big News for Dreadnoughts

We’ve already seen one dreadnought rumour - well guess what? We’re now hearing that dreads can THROW marines as a shooting attack. Which obviously they could in real life so actually quite an interesting rule? All for more realism in the game tbh.

We are shocked

New token type? We’re hearing this marks a unit as “titanshocked” - a new ability superheavies get against smaller units.

MORE DREADNOUGHT NEWS

Hearing dreadnoughts are getting vehicle stats again. Makes us definitely think the throwing marines thing is true - makes a lot of sense.

Some more pics on the insta, looks like the praetors base, and… orders tokens?

Possibly the tokens are status makers? For things like pinning, shaken/stunned etc? Would actually be a fairly useful set of things to include to be honest.

This is what I think they are and they look cool. I like the idea of order tokens but I think the scale of the games for Heresy, it wouldn't work. I think order tokens work at smaller skirmish scale games or something like Legions Imperialis/Epic.

I wonder how much more of the set they can "leak" before they should show it off. They've been doing something everyday now and is this something they can keep going with until end of the month?

Would unironically love something like that, for the sheer hilarity.

Probably from the Saturnine Praetor base?

Yup it is.

Didn't they sell reaction markers in 2ed which looked like that?

Think it was deeds endured in the shattered legions anthology

You're right - well they didn't sell them I don't think but they were the bonus item if you preordered the launch box direct with them. I'd forgotten about them, but yes it's the exact same icon:

Based on that, it does seem to strongly suggest that the 2.0 reactions will still exist more or less as they were (type and qty).

Now, the specific rules for those reactions - could they change? Would be interesting to get some kind of preview on that.

You would need lots of tokens per player which won´t be included in the box. I personally use different kinds of coloured glass tokens to illustrate status effects.

With the templates still there it kinda feeds the idea of more of a 2.5 edition.  I think folks would be happy with that.

If this has already been said, my bad.  I didn’t read every page.

I've seen enough people over the Internet say they're outright done with the game regardless

Which happens every time GW releases any new ruleset!

For me the models look like a mixed bag, I like the MKII and it's good to have another launch box to get more people interested in heresy, but I think the most important part of the box is the new rulebook. If the rules are tightened up with some rebalancing where needed, it could be a fantastic release/update :)

Seems I touched a nerve on the LI commentary. Sorry people, the game with 0 list building restrictions and legion soup to shame 8th, essentially 10th Ed points on super weapon disparity, and alternate activations that can range to 50+ per side with extra interrupt mechanics is a bad one. There's a reason why the board is pretty much dead on the forum with the active threads boiling down to "how do we fix this game instead of just abandoning it".

As critical as I am of 2nds rules, it looks like the perfect game next to LI and I have no faith in the LI team: they took SM2 and butchered it. Nothing needs to be ported from LI.
