GW already confirmed they are looking at redesigning Tartaros and Cataphracti to come in line with the new Indomitus scale. No timescale given but another 3 years for a launch box seems like a long time even by their standards?

Some people are put off the current Tartaros for looking small next to mk vi - hence why upscaling tutorials exist. Scale creep continues.

That would be far too big of a jump in size imho. 40k Indomitus tower over primaris marines which are bigger than HH marines. I like my terminators to look like bigger/heavy armour suits for my marines, not like a different species.

We've gone a whole edition without breachers being done in plastic.

I agree 100%. I looked at the new indomitus, I love the poses, but they are too big next to my mk iii and vi and I think the egginators will be too!

But were breachers ever promised? I guess Andy Hoare said something vague that suggested that everything that wasn’t legion-specific was going to plastic? I always assumed the shields were technically difficult to mould, like mk ii leg plates or mk v leg studs …

While Tartaros and Cataphractii are fine, they do still have a bit of air until they'd become too large, especially compared to some of the newer praetors or even NL Contekar. Though I also wouldn't mind if Indomitus remains the huger-er of the three to reinforce the idea that it is a less refined mark, a temporary solution that became permanent.

But there are also other refinements that could be made with the two 30k TDAs, such as the inclusion of weapon options not already found on the kit (autocannons for C, heavy Flamers for T, thunder hammers for both), Legion Vexillas, Nuncio Voxes, maybe some bits and bobs to spruce up the sergeant beyond the samy lightning pattern chest. Maybe some eyes of horus or terran veteran marks.

Cataphractii could also benefit from actually having helmet options instead of the half helmets it has now.

Oh and while they're at it; get rid of the thigh gap butt plates and let the cake hang free. The transhuman bakery needs to be proudly displayed.

I’ve recently heresy-fied an Indomitus squad for my Raven Guard. They are a bit big but not crazily so I think.

Here’s a squad with a few random things to give an idea what they’d look like in a game. They do stand out as big chonky guys to be honest, but I think they’re ok. Very nice models too I think.

Anyway, the new Saturnines look like they’ll be bigger. Weird scales are now just a thing in heresy, apparently.

Next things up:

We’re losing our heads…

…or someone is, anyway. Found this – cool head! Can anyone confirm if new?? The detailing on the mouthguard doesn’t look familiar…

Shattered Legions incoming?

Rumour has it that the campaign for the edition is gonna focus on the Shattered Legions - some realy cool opportunities for raven guard, salamanders, and iron hands scenarios…

The Emperor protects…

…with cool bits of armour. Clearly new, but what is it? Chest piece? Bit of a turret or a sponson? Those studs aren’t a shape we recognise…

MINDS BLOWN

Well. We didn’t see this coming. How could we? We’re not mind readers. Rumour has it that the psychic phase is making a return, and that there’s a Psychic Lore for EACH INDIVIDUAL LEGION.

Lovely lads. But yeah with, Saturnine I would bet money on them being severly bone-saw'd down volunteer-almost-dreadnoughts. Tasty nugget marine egginators.

Looks to be the gas mask bit that is usually on the sergeant sprue finally found it's way on a face.

Looking good. But maybe they look smaller in black? Mine were gonna be World Eaters. I also have a castraferrum that I might give to the World Eaters - is it now too small? I’m very indecisive about these things…

Now there's an idea I can get behind. The massive scale doesn't work with normal Marines in there but if they've had a few bits lopped off and their just plugged in then it starts to make a lot more sense.

Just solved all my hangups. I'm all in. Cheers!

Appears to be a spiky version of this bit… maybe the dread and termies will have spiky traitor plates?

IMG_1167.jpeg

It’s the same piece from the mini you can see the small spikes on the legs too

though traitor + loyalist options will more than likely be present

Isn’t that painted markings and/or decals?

Hell, they could just go the direction of them being actual Dreads, just small. I'm sure some of the severely crippled marines might want to run around in something smaller than a full Dreadnought. (Probably not what they're going for since they wouldn't just call them Saturnine Terminators, but I like the thought.)

Terminator armour = Tactical Dreadnought Armour. I think blurring the lines between terminator and dreadnought could be the way to square this circle…

Seems like someone on the marketing team saw us arguing .

Now I'll retract my statement that there's 0 indication of LI rules making it over and you have a point.

You know, I've actually suggested tying reactions (if they have to be kept) to praetors, since they're largely useless compared to the consuls. Make the masters of warfare and command the unit that allows you to pull really janky gotchas, since they're the only ones experienced enough to read the battle and predict the necessary reaction. Or make it a leadership based test to pull off (like AT), with characters obviously boosting it?

New head cannon: it’s a halfway point between experimental designs like Ferrus’ Gorgon TDA (meant for Marines with bionics) and Requires A Sarcophagus Dreadnoughts for Marines beyond the scope of bionics. I imagine there were a lot of those post-Istvaan V.

I for one hope they upscale the terminators so I can buy up the old ones for my at scale space marines in mk2 and 6

But the prices tend to go up not down when that happens - look at eBay for some old Mk III right now …
