It's on the Saturnite chests

One thing that was pointed out on a YouTube video I saw recently is that the vehicle debris that the Saturnine Praetor is likely standing on is from the Rapier Batteries that are drawn in the Beta-Garmon book. And they said that it’s more likely that such base debris can be a sign of a plastic kit coming out soonish.

;)

I should laugh, but I feel personally attacked

Indeed, that's not a proper imperial aquila. Just like the one in the AoD sword praetor, it looks like an US government bald eagle rather than the fantasy roman/german-like variants we've always seen used by the Imperium.

GW: only III legion used the Aquila in the Heresy

Fans: got it <proceed to religiously remove any winged eagles from all other legion models>
GW: <proceeds to liberally spray winged eagles all over other legion models>

They were playing the long game on this  mickey-take!

They did: Death Guard favored MkIII and Iron Warriors favored MkII

Every time I see Death Guard in Mk VI armor I get this twitch in my eye that won’t go away.

Idk about that the only time I can think of IWs stating a preference for armour was one of them complaining about Mark II helms being locked into place

I'm Australian so for me tomorrow is the day but I definitely share the enthusiasm.

My wife laughed right in my face when I asked her to distract my three-year-old for half an hour in the morning so I can catch up. I don't think I'm gonna get my half hour.

Lucky for me I am on CEST. Kids will be in bed by then .

Got to say, I'm well impressed that even though the box leaked, they actually managed to keep the hype train going pretty well! (at least for me)

Now I'm mostly curious to see if they also show some additional stuff or if they'll only do the Saturnine box in the reveals.

I'm impressed the box has leaked but no real leaks about how the game has changed for the new edition.

I think they will show off a bit more than the box. I'm hoping they will do some mickey taking/trolling as well but I think it will be showing off what is in the box, releases along side and an overview of the changes to rules. I'm not expecting a road map as I think GW have been stung by them, but I think they will say a little bit about up coming things. I'm also half expecting a Dark Mechanicum tease but considering the set is about the Dropsite massacre, this is probably unlikely.

I'll be watching later tonight as it's on during the bedtime routine for my son, so I've got to avoid looking at my phone or annoying my wife about it until later!

Ironically I'm heading up to Sheffield for what will likely be a last hurrah for the 2.0 HH set, so I suspect I'll be on the M1 when this happens.

Will enjoy catching up on it later... hopefully they'll talk a bit about rules changes but we'll see.

There are two types of Aquilas (three if you count the Custodes symbol)

edit: (four if you count the ultramarian eagle of the east)

Also this one only has one head so I wouldn't be surprised if it's handwaved as a heavily stylised raptor imperialis, and the guys in the suits just happen to be terran veterans.

I regret having to work today, I'll still be at work when the preview goes up and knowing my luck I won't be able to do two things at once because customers will be demanding attention. So playing catch up when I get home it is then

That comment about not being able to pass 4++ saves feels like a personal attack.

As anyone who's watch me roll dice can attest to...

EDIT: And the beaky is just from LI isn't it?

Pretty sure they're having a go at me there...

Yes it is – and (pleasepleaseplease) I hold out a faint hope that this is not just a fun joke, but a knowing aside that GW will have something for the other games in the setting.

I really hope Adeptus Titanicus and Legions Imperialis get announcements alongside the main Age of Darkness event.

Sure, but I'm not going to get worked up and feel let down if this doesn't come to pass.

The preview could be fifty eight minutes of 28mm plastic infantry and legion uniques and if they spend the other two minutes even referencing Legiones or Titanicus the entirety of Reddit, crusade and heresy, and YouTube will have a collective aneurysm so powerful it births the chaos god of salt and cynicism.

aquillas are awards of veterans, the Raptor (eagle head) was terran veterans, and the EC wore the Palatine aquilia. The wording of the palantine aquilia make is sound like a unite citation a medal you get simply for being in that unit.

Though that evolved over time, as GW spread the pre-Heresy use of the Aquila.

In 1988: "The Legion's original Chapter colours of gold and purple were abandoned long ago, as was the Imperial double-headed eagle which was, at one time, forbidden to all other Marine Chapters. With the Horus Heresy and the defection of the Chapter, the right to use the double-headed eagle motif was passed to other, loyal, Chapters of the Adeptus Astartes." -Realm of Chaos: Slaves to Darkness, pg 263.

In 2001: "So inspired was the Emperor by the words of his newly-found son that he bestowed on Fulgrim's Legion a unique honour: the Emperor's Children would be permitted to display the Imperial Eagle on their armour's chestplates, the only Legion then allowed to display the symbol in such a manner." -Index Astartes: Children of the Emperor, White Dwarf 255.

I'm not sure when that changed to "the Palatine Aquila" being exclusively for the Third, with the Imperial Aquila dotted around amongst others.
