I haven't really studied the new FOC system yet because we tend to treat them more like guidelines (insert Pirates meme), but is there a legal way to field all vehicle armies under the new system?

Most likely, but we have only seen the basic force org so far. I’d be really surprised if certain consuls/legions/whatever rites of war end up being didnt unlock things like “oops all vehicles” or “millions of jetbikes” and suchlike.

Yes, but you must take approximately forty seven centurions.

I have the following units in my current force assembled and painted:

- Praetor

- Chaplain (grants access to a single Auxiliary detachment)

- #20 Tacticals

- #10 Tacticals with Rhino

For the next batch of units I would need further Auxiliary detachments:

1. 10# Missile Launchers & #10 Flamers with Rhino

2. #10 Cataphractii

3. #1 Contemptor

4. #1 Spartan

So I went to the Warhammer website and looked for generic Centurion models as one of those guys grants access to two Auxiliary slots. I wasn´t surprised when my query only ended up with the 40K Centurion models and the vintage Champion/Master of Signals from the first edition of the game. Outcome: Better stay with Oldhammer.

Or just use literally any marine model and make it slightly fancier.

We won’t know until they show off more of the army list (or the books release)… if I were to guess however, they have Decurions in 2.0, with two legion specific ones that got models, and I’d bet they become the “tank centurion” for doing an all tanks list. Either that or you just have to have a few centurions hiding about somewhere on the board.

I also have been wondering if they are going to do this for dreadnoughts too… they had a dread-praetor via RoW this edition, I wonder if they’re just going to make a dread centurion/consul upgrade.

Andy Hoare collects White Scars, and is a big lead up on the Heresy team. I'd be shocked if he neutered his ability to play the Scars as they're meant to be played.

I’d not be shocked if Andy (or whomever - nothing personal) was busy play-testing the ‘Scars as they are meant to be played’ list for an expansion though.

It's not hard to kitbash a Centurion. Why do you need a dedicated official model?

One of those ten Cataphractii as a Centurion to lead them, plus a couple Prime Slot benefits and you're probably there with that collection. I say probably, I haven't sat down and done the maths because, well... it's not my army!

Honestly I would be shocked if we don't see specialized detachments for Astartes, Solar Aux, Custodes, and Mechanicum in their respective books. Legion specific ones might be a stretch in the new system, but leaning into organizing things so every faction has the core options plus some options that lean into their flavor of war makes sense to me.

Just so you’re aware, any of the Horus Heresy Praetor models that are available could used as Centurions.

There have been dozens of Consuls released in 2.0 as well, that could be suitable to represent a generic Centurion.

If you want to stick to Oldhammer (which one btw?) that’s totally fine as well. You can even

use any of the models I mentioned in your Oldhammer games.

If you really want a dedicated generic Centurion model for your force you're in luck! One was announced to be a part of the Saturnine box set. You may have to wait some months for the model's standalone release but one is coming.

Anyone who's been collecting for any real length of time is bound to have enough bits in their bits box to throw a power sword and plasma pistol and maybe a fancy helmet onto a random marine body, and 'lo, a centurion is born!

Agreed. Actually, I am excited to have a reason to build random centurions! I have several that I have slapped together on a whim that have never or barely ever seen play. There was just no real reason to include one in a very limited slot that had lots of better choices in it.

But now: that random powerfist/plasma pistol guy for my Alphas? Worth a look. The hand flamer guy for my Salamanders? Maybe give him a shot.

How dare they change things

Change is great when it improves things.

Change for the sake of Change is not good.

What differentiates good? The full decision behind a 'change' isn't always obvious, so what some consider bad, might be good - from another point of view.

Change is needed when things are negative and stagnant, but some changes just ruin a theme or feel of a game and people turn off it.

I'm happy with the changes in this game so far. Looks fine to me, baring in mind we need to see overall balance so reserve judgment in that regard, but yeah the rules work for me so far.

Dare I say it, I'd even say this was the type of change and direction 40K should have went from 7th to 8th.

Wish I'd seen those cool Conversion and Grav weapon options to use in Armiger conversions before throwing the Leviathan weapons on them instead. The Saturnine dread is looking like a great bits pack for me.

They did actually confirm both Faction and Legion specific detachments (in the official article about detachments) - warcom have been known to make mistakes sure, but I think that ones safe : especially if those detachments turn out to replace Rites of War

So what's up with the online store? Are they waiting for the new edition to restock some of the Forge World stuff on their EU shop? I've had Grave Wardens and Land Speeder Proteus with the plasma cannon set to "notify me" for a few weeks now and they are still out of stock.

In the US it’s not just the Forge World stuff that’s out of stock; all plastic marks of armor and terminators are out of stock. Hopefully a restock occurs soon as buying anything HH is difficult at the moment.

The little newsletter giveaway they have going right now probably also meant some of the stock was put to the side, since it is dependent on what the eventual winners choose. Not a humongous snag, but I assume it would be easier to keep some stuff back, just in case the winners all pick the same stuff, while the rest of the stockpiling and re-packaging, and movement is being done.

That does however mean, if they decide to restock it all at the same time, it'll be a big flood of people on the webstore all at the same time come release.
