That is painful since it means coughing up mid month as opposed to doing so after payday. Oh well.

Most of these are at least permanent stock additions, so you'll only need to be quick for the novels and maps.

Best thing I ever did was learn ignore GW release schedules and marketing hype to become more patient for things that I wanted to get when I needed them rather than felt I had to get immediately or miss out.

I won't be touching this edition but it's interesting to see Mk II being a solo release this early on and that the army books releases are on day one too.

Dear Omnissiah, it's just game abstraction, don't you guys know how to separete gameplay from lore?

This obsession over it reached absurd (in the dumb way) levels.

Just wait 'till the Primarch stats are out and we start getting "my dad is smarter than your dad," discussions.

Nice to see MK2 available straight away. I think my priority for this weekend is going to be the Libers so I can figure out how to move my army lists to 3rd. Saturnine will just have to wait a little for the hobby budget fo build.

Going to be an expensive weekend. Hopefully the libers leak prior but if not, Saturday is going to be a hell of an information dump when all the reviews go live.

We’re talking the largest book purchase I’ve ever had to make at once. No more PDFs on Warhammer digital.

How many do you need?

I'm just grabbing the rulebook and hereticus book for now until I see the rules fully and see how this plays out.

I have armies for all five books.

I want them all for fluff.

I’ve never played anything other than ultramarines, but you bet your bottom dollar I buy other codices and books to explore the lore.

Sadly, given the poor lore offerings in second and the range growth, I don’t think these will be anything but copy-pasted.

Could you explain the 'poor lore offerings'? The only slightly dodgy bit was regarding the White Scars in the latest book.

Sadly no. Old books have been pulled, and newest old world books never got uploaded.

That’s a bit worrying, but I can’t see that as 100% stated anywhere in what WarCom have put out about the new edition.

I’ve just emailed customer services to ask if they’re planning on releasing digital copies of the rules and libers for the new edition, I’ll update as and when I get an answer.

I believe the old world has digital books? It'd be odd if HH dropped them.

They haven't been "pulled" - all the books up to wood elves are available still from Warhammer digital!

The change is that the Matched Play Guide and Cathay are not available as ebooks, having come out on Saturday. Hopefully they are just delayed, and hopefully the same here too!

I'm pretty torn on this, tbh. Last time I managed to hold off until people started selling the box second hand and I kinda want to do the same this time around, as I don't have anyone to play with at this time + I have loads of other projects I could do instead.

At the same time, I'd also really like to have those tasty new marines...

I appreciate the intent to create variation between roles - a Chaplain could have absurd levels of leadership and will power but lesser cool, or a sorceror very high will power but lower leadership. That works in an RPG and, on paper it adds flavour to heroes but as with Rogue Trader I think it'll just slow the game down as rules are checked to determine the statistic to use

You've just stated two quite logical eventualities, so I don't think it needs to slow anything down by an appreciable amount.

Wait MK2s are 8 euros more expensive than mk3/Mk6??

only when compared to Mk3, compared to Mk6 it's only 2,50 more expensive, which makes me think this is already including the price rise.

Mk3 being this significantly cheaper was a surprise at first, but iirc they come without chain bayonets

Ah that makes a bit more sense. Thanks!

They'll become even more palatable when compare to 40k marine units, where they start at 47,50€ (tacticals) and go up to 55€ for ten bodies. Unless it's Kill Team where it goes up to 62,50€ for the included markers and, in case of the scout kill team, extra transfers.

So even at 70€ they're arguably a bargain when compared to any off the bolter units in LSM or CSM, especially when buying from a third party store.
