Price conversions sorted.

Liber Questoris costing the same as Mechanicum and Auxilia despite presumably being a much smaller book is, as the kids say, "oof".

Interesting that the Marine Libers went down a few quid.

MkII having a baked-in price rise isn't too surprising I suppose.

Sometimes, I want to go back to the late 1990s and somehow persuade myself to take up a less financially crippling hobby.

Only sometimes though, mind you.

Id be interested to see what you’d have gone with, I imagine most hobbies you’d be on a similar forum making a similar post. Hobbies are sadly not cheap across the board, in my experience.

I've alternated between music and miniatures.  I think I've spent more on guitars still over the last 25 years.

I've probably spent more time painting minis and reading lore though.

Are people thinking of getting the Saturnine box?  I'm not sold on the dreadnought or gun emplacement.  So, I'm going for the books for now and will pick up some minis as required.

It's a lot of money to lay out for Libers when you have loyalists, traitors, mechanicum and a planned milita army (minis have been purchased).

They haven't been "pulled" - all the books up to wood elves are available still from Warhammer digital!

The change is that the Matched Play Guide and Cathay are not available as ebooks, having come out on Saturday. Hopefully they are just delayed, and hopefully the same here too!

@Petitioner's City there’s no section for the Heresy anymore, that what I am referencing.

Wouldn't they have pulled that as soon as they announced the new edition? Like, there's no Heresy books to buy at the moment and given most of them have the same names as the previous versions it's actually entirely reasonable to pull it until the new versions are live to avoid confusion?

Same... Every one of my other hobbies has the potential to cost me 3-400 quid at a whim, and that's just to maintain something that just disintegrated.

To be fair, about half (if not more) of Liber Questoris is going to be explaining the new titan rules and so forth.

Huh, my liber hereticus epub was $32.99 cad in 2022.

Hard to want to give the game an honest look over if it wants like, $200 in books just to see how one marine legion works.

Edit: all the advertising for Cathay and matched play includes epubs, so they're probably just delayed to sell the more expensive physical books (iirc the same thing happened in 2nd).

Could you explain the 'poor lore offerings'? The only slightly dodgy bit was regarding the White Scars in the latest book.

Not OP, but for me a lot of the newer lore veers away from campaign and battle descriptions and into bland BL novel Bolterporn focussed on individual hero characters and the new "Kit that needs to be promoted" spotlight.

Older books (and the Legions Imperialis books are quite good at it too) told the story of the events you could place your dudes in. The new ones tell the story of characters in the events.

Also a complete disconnect between novels and campaign book lore with for example characters being dead in one and popping up in events years later in the other.

Finally just a lack of care that sometimes comes across. Standout for me was the Blood Angel strike force on Mars being described as having a single Leviathan dread. When the "epic" final fight with a Brass Scorpion ensues a few paragraphs later, it gets defeated by said Leviathan dread holding back its pincers, and a second one blasting it in the face.

Interview on designing Saturnine, some interesting tidbits there.

Quote

Saturnine armour requires both technological skill and a small degree of psychic attunement – above the average of a Space Marine, but nowhere near the level of a Librarian. One of the things you’ll see later is how different Legions adapted the technology to themselves. The Thousand Sons have the psychic discipline to get more out of it, while the Word Bearers have done their usual and stuffed Daemons into them. We’ll also see how legions like the Space Wolves use them, or the White Scars – given they have a different tactical doctrine.

Quote

Neil: You can see this with the Saturnine Command Squad that was shown in a recent article, which is a kitbash brought together to make something unique, but not something we’d want people to feel required to make. Rules are coming in the second Journal Tactica.

So yeah, just taking Obliterators for any potential possession works well, especially whith some of the leftover bits of the praetor and leftover weapons from the regular squad will work fine, before even considering any upgrade sets or legion upgrades they might introduce.

Also quickly glancing over the instructions again, this nub of the back screams "mounting point" to me.

I’ve just emailed customer services to ask if they’re planning on releasing digital copies of the rules and libers for the new edition, I’ll update as and when I get an answer.

That was quick!

“Thank you for your email.

We do not have any more information than is released in the Warhammer Community articles. So until information is released on there, we would not be able to let you know one way or the other with regards to digital rules for the forth coming new Horus Heresy rules.

If you have any further questions or queries, please don't hesitate to ask.”

So, no idea then! I’d be very surprised if the old books haven’t just been taken down to avoid confusion with the upcoming releases TBH

I’d fully expect - and I’m counting on - all the rulebooks being released digitally.

Feels like the Second Journal Tactica will be the one 'focused on heavy assaults' that was mentioned in an article last week. Which fits for Istvaan Part II: Electric Bogaloo.

£42.50 is 55 Euro? Who converted these prices? Hopefully GW doesn't do that this way.

GW never do straight up conversions, there's always something added extra (look at the aussie and USA prices)

You probably would have saved money if you got addicted to actual crack, instead of the plastic variety!!!

But you likely would have a lot less teeth!!!!

A box of Heavy Intercessors is £42.50 in the UK.

Having just checked the Irish website, the same box is €55.

To be fair, changing €55 at the post office into £GBP gives you £41.04 at the moment - so if anything, you’re getting it cheaper than it is in the UK…

I would buy several copies of Oldhammer stuff and get rich for selling them now on ebay. $$$

Yeah sure, but I thought GW just hates them.
