Just look at IF, the 2.0 poster bois and how much stuff they have and compare it to sallies/ GW couldn't even be bothered to add one character.

They could have just done Numeon, but noooooo

Because the Sallies will be the focus of the Saturnine Journal Tactica

Veteran Tactical Squad? I think so, probably to differentiate them from Veteran Assault Squad.

The jump packs would be what differentiates them lol

I had an idea buzzing around for a while for an all power spear vet squad for my night lords. Something a bit different and pretty good into a lot of the non terminator legion special units due to a prevalence of 3+. Now, I can't give foot veterans melee weapons almost at all, and I can't give jump veterans all power weapons (except for lightning claws). This is past making a unit really insanely bad, like what happened to my atrementar from 1st to 2nd. This is just killing a modeling build that's been valid for 13 years.

It's also missing the point that the legion veteran squad was a throwback to the 4th edition veteran squad that could be built as a tooled up combi/special/heavy weapon squad or a melee one before the split of sternguard/vanguard.

Like we'll keep on seeing how the cookie crumbles. But it seems to be crumbling under the people that really liked a lot of the older 40kisms. The destroyers I converted out of angel tears got legacies and we'll see if their weapon options got hosed. We'll see if my terror marines keep their chain gun and chain blade options. My inductii with the murderers blades? Ain't looking good lol.

Assault Veterans can all take sergeant weapons and every pistol option.

That makes it a bit better that theyd be convertable. But still ripping the packs would have been...irksome, especially since it was such a legacy option.

Also, I personally used recons almost every game in 2nd, and seekers pretty often. Never used vets lol, they didn't compete with either of those units at all in the ranged role.

I imagine they got tired of Nemesis Vets being used as much as scouts/seekers.

I don't know if it's a good idea (I doubt it) but a squad with power weapons and shields would look really nice.

And if you all thought Mor Deythan had it bad ...

Varagyr Terminators now limited to combi-bolter and frost axe ... BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT TEH MODEL COMES WITH.

No options. Period.

Caster of Runes comes with both a frost axe and a force staff ... BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT TEH MODEL COMES WITH.

Can't have legionaries with both bolt pistol AND combat shield, nope.

Pretty clear where this edition is going.

They don't want you to customise, kit-bash or be creative. Nor to use your older resin kits.

They want you to use the latest plastic kit(s) and the flavour of the month, which is disintegrator guns all around, because that's their latest 'invention'.

Consume plastic product and shut up.

The loss of options all around is ... I could say heartbreaking, sad or even infuriating ... but it's just bad.

And when they noticed the rules they had been brewing were rather mediore ... oh, let's add the Rogue Trader stats, so we can at least cash in on nostalgia.

Because they are definitely going in the direction of modern 40k here.

If you closely examine the 'new' detachments, you'll notice they add essentially nothing to the game that couldn't have been done before.

They do precisely the same thing those challenge 'gambits' do ... bloat the game in unnecessary ways to make you feel sated and overlook how things are actually de-evolving instead of improving.

One person on a different board put it correctly when they said 'GW are just milking the corpse of a game that died with its creator'.

And yes, feel free to disagree or plaster me with those 'minus' icons you love so much, but we've seen enough 'leaks' by now to be honest.

Oh boy, can't wait for Mechanicum or SA  leaks ...

And snip.

We don't have to buy or play 3rd edition rules as others have said, and it seems that sentiment is gaining a lot of traction with the leaks. We can still buy the cool models and the community can make its own rules for the new stuff.

Now that's not to take anything away from those who still want to play 3rd. I wish them the best of fun and I thank them for tolerating my pessimist self.

People said that same crap before 2.0 when everything leaked and then absolutely nothing came of it anywhere. No one kept playing 1.0. People like the Outer Sucker will push out broken as hell fan editions and in six months once the PDFs are out everyone who hates it will have moved on to the great Facebook comment section in the sky and the people who stay will just tolerate it with the occasional “in my day you got +1 toughness if your Breachers were in base contact”. This edition sucks. What were they even trying to accomplish here?

I'm very glad I didn't bother building and painting the jetbike command squad.

The option shrinkage is baffling considering what heresy is supposed to be. Charnabal weapons have become charnabal sabres only from what we've seen.

Sad really and unexpected. Glad I've only pre ordered the army book and Isstvan book.

Hmm, i don't quite agree with this sentiment. People left 40k for HH, myself included, when 10th hit and landed with the same kind of garbage changes HH 3ed seems to be bringing.

I think the difference with this one is, there's no where else to go now. if you were unhappy with 10ed, you went to HH. If you are unhappy with 3ed, where do you go? no other system GW sells does what HH 1ed/2ed did. the mass battle games are becoming garbage (maybe Legions Imperialis is the exception, but that doesn't help in this instance)

The only real option for people like me, who are able to separate themselves from the FOMO train and decide if they enjoy the game play a rule set creates, is to go custom. Whether that is houseruling with friends, using older editions or using community Rules like Liber Panoptica (i don't want to touch anything a dweeb like that Outer troll makes), it will be up to each person or group to decide, but GW keeps failing at reading the room and making the same mistakes over and over.

At the end of the day though, none of this will reach the people at GW who are really in charge, the executives and the marketing teams.

Unless we stop giving them our money.

That will get their attention. It is the ONLY thing that will get their attention. make all the appeals to the love and passion the rules team have for the game. IT DOESN'T MATTER. GW and 40k are Capitalist ventures. they exist only to generate profit. if they continue to generate that profit even with a garbage rulel set, nothing will change. So, if YOU want to change the game, don't pay for the rule set OR the models. It has to be both. If GW continues to make a profit from either of these, the executives and marketing will not change a damn thing.

Consuls and destroyers will almost certainly be in the legacies pdf. Apparently consuls also have cut down options (just plasma and bolt pistols for Moritat for example and they come with a jump pack). Praetors and Centurions have all the options still.

That's sad as I really wanted one with a Hand Flamer with a squad of Destroyers (I know they couldn't chain-fire a hand flamer in 2nd but I liked the image of him being an Arsonist leading a bunch of vandals).

Hmm, bit of a pity, this'll probably mean that Gal Vorbak will probably be stuck with boltspitters and tainted talons. Especially weird considering many of the options lost are available via upgrade kits. Do they want to avoid people kitbashing the legion specific resin stuff until they move those fully to plastic?

Or are the more flexible options gonna be tied to the Legion Journals?

Makes me wonder what the plan is; Are the Libers kept lighter to make starting out easier? Is Legacies gonna be the designated medium of the full gamut of choices? Or is it a stop-gap container until a Unit can be stuffed in a specific Journal or coinciding miniature release window? Are they still gauging interest per Legion?

I'm severely disappointed with this. I've literally just finished upgrading my Iron Hands Breachers & Medusan Immortals to each be 16 x Volkite Chargers and 4 x Graviton Shredders, and now they lost the option to upgrade to Volkite Chargers AND the Graviton Shredder has vanished from the Iron Hands Armoury...

It’s just all really odd to me, it would have been worse but at least made more sense to me if ALL options went but it’s like they’re restricting options to models in some cases (mainly legion specific stuff and consuls) but opening more options in others (kitbash units in the journals and stuff).

Seems someone compiled all that has leaked so far into an imgur album but has elected to make their displeasure with the 30k subreddit and some guy named pardo known. As far as I can see, beyond multiple expletives, this compilation does not include any slurs unlike the 2.0 leak compilation.

According to these leaks, unless he's forgotten to get a picture, Fafnir Rann (who has a model) doesn't have a profile, but Camba Diaz (who doesn't have a model) does

No doubt because GW will make people who want to run Fafnir buy yet more books - after paying almost £100 for their new rulebook and Liber - to get his rules :ermm::facepalm:
